Love is taking accountability for your actions, Love is having uncomfortable conversation, love is seeing and hearing the person, love is not walking out when the person needs you the most.
The “choice” of love is greater than the “emotion” of love. We can tell many people we love them and that’s usually said through the emotion and feeling of love. But when you choose to love someone, it’s a decision to love them no matter what. Trust is necessary in the emotion and decision to love, but the choice to love will supersede that if and when your mate falls short, loses your trust and/or disappoints you. Trust can be broken or lost, but love never fails. This is a needed conversation between those who choose to take the love journey together because understanding what your mate’s perspective of what is love, is critical. Everyone has a different idea about it and no one’s perspective is wrong. It’s a matter of what works for you. That is where your complete transparency is a MUST! Just my two cents. Prayers of peace, comfort & understanding to you and the family of your friend David. God is ever close to the broken-hearted 🙏🏾
That's not biblical. The Bible says "...and the greatest of these is love." I answered your question with the word RESPECT. But no...I am reminded that when you TRULLY love someone all these things come along with it. Trust is something you can establish within a relationship but it's not greater than true love. My condolences to you for the loss of your friend.
Wow so sorry to hear about your friend...My thoughts on the rest of the podcast: From many years of Christian retreats, I learned that love is a decision. It isn't a feeling which is why you can't fall in and out of it. Love is the most important because God is Love. Nothing is higher than Him. When I was married I trusted my husband, but I trusted God more and settled it in my heart that if there were ever something I needed to know God would tell me. He did. None of my years were wasted on trust issues and my marriage was great until it wasn't. I worked through the sadness of it's end, but I continued to love my Ex and do good to him. No longer as a husband or a friend, but as a person whom I shared my truest self with simply because it was a choice. Otherwise, it would have taken too much energy to be bitter or hate, it would have been contrary to the spirit of God in me that was helping me through the pain. God told me to concentrate on where I failed and don't waste time on his failures. Today, I am open to love and in a good place. Hope this helps someone.
Greetings, I came across your podcasts today and first pray that you and your friends family are celebrating the memory of his life on this 1 year anniversary. Secondly, I have enjoyed all the podcasts thus far and these were God sent and right on time! Thank you.
I totally understand your point of view about love not being stronger, especially when you look at the way people vow to love each other for the rest of their lives and then hate each other years down the line. We, humans, are fickle with our emotions, also, the various facets of interaction with people in our lives cause love to be expressed differently, hence the different types of love. The Bible says that God is love and that perfect love cast out fear. God is our example of how to love. When we understand who we are in God and what we have, we begin to desire to love God and others around us the way that God will have us love them, not the way we think they want to be loved. Trust, commitment, are all expressions of love. You cannot love someone you do not trust, nor commit to something that you do not love. It is why it is so important that the person you are believing for loves God and places his word as the final say in their lives. so that you both love God's way and not your way.
I have had the privilege of speaking to many brothers returning home and a lot of their fear of being reunited in society with family is the lack of support once they are released. I am sure the expectation of meeting with you and him seeing all you do was mentoring his heart in ways God only knows, even before the date you expected. I pray for Mr. Gwen's family, his babies and you as well. You spoke about experiencing loss of a friend on another show, so I pray that this grief coaster does not reopen that pain and that God guides and covers you all in your time of loss.
I have to say this show was the best , trust is top of my list for my future wife , purpose is second on the list followed by attraction, I agree with you on the age gap I turn 51 this July and really need someone closer to my age if for any reason but to have the generation connection , I do think I’m in trouble I find myself drawn to black women , I had a terrible crush on a girl when I was 9 years old , yes she was biracial but I found her smile and brown eyes most intoxicating , I even started writing stories about people getting married with diverse backgrounds , I guess this is my escape to my heart’s desire for the second half of my life . After 27 years of marriage and divorce with three kids with two grandkids my heart drifted to a place that brought me the most joy in a friendship I ever had, only God knows if I can find this again 🕊
I think love is a bark that has many branches that can be patience, trust, availability etc. And complex that it does not only produce emotions because Love is a decision. I do not think anything is greater than love but the other disciplines (Branches) complement and can only add to ones character.
Love n trust goes together. If I love you so much and you keep breaking the trust, will forgive and let you go. Trust and love MUST go together. That's my opinion.
What a beautiful podcast! Not sure how this came across my timeline but I'm sure glad it did! In the last two days I've watched back to back episodes and I'm glad to say I'm allowing the Holy Spirit to heal me from things of the past. Keep sharing and keep caring...-K ♥️
Mr. Laterras...I have viewed this episode many times and shared it/been in convo with peers around this topic. The statement of struggle is “you can have love without trust; you cannot have trust without love.” The struggle is that it seems as if upon meeting its all lust until trust is established and maintained then and only then can lust transition into love. (In the tune of the childhood playground “first comes love...”)First comes lust, then comes trust, then comes love. So my rebuttal to you is, should the statement be “you can’t have love without trust.”
That's a good perspective. I only speak from experience when I say, I've loved but didn't trust. We must take into account there are 8 types of love, as well.
This is so good, so true, and definitely needed a reminder! A male acquaintance of mine keeps asking me to tell him my future plans and I always tell him “no” and he asks “me why not” and I always say “because I don’t trust you”. I could easily love him because of who I am but because of who he is and how shady he moves in his life (that he doesn’t even realize), not trusting him definitely outweighs possible love- I believe love is our natural nature but trust was broken with the fall of man, not trusting God was the biggest mistake. I believe that trust is developed through discernment, maturity, and wholeness and you can definitely open up to the trustworthy!
OMG, I am so sorry for your friend going home so early:( He did great by asking you to assist him on his journey. As a Recovery Coach he was changing and putting work in. He left this world in pursuit of change.
God allowing this channel to pop up on my timeline but more so me choosing to click onto it has been the blessing for me in a variety of ways....... #grateful #godisgood #wisdom #confirmation #futurewife #waiting #prayer #vision #desire
I really love your podcast! My mom has always told me in a marriage you need respect, trust & honesty and of course keeping God at the center of your marriage. I am so happy to have a great example in my parents since they been married for 24 years and counting. For me in my last relationship I would ask my ex to pray with me, he would only pray because I wanted too. I want a man who will pray me on a daily basis. Mind you he grew up in the chruch. I much rather have a man who does not go to chruch every Sunday but will pray for me and with me everyday. Omg we have the same phone!! Sorry for the long comment. Quaratine has made me appericiate small things like this. Your son is so lucky to have you in your life. I love seeing a articulate black man & you have a bald which I love ❤❤
Your transparency, I pray will be your healing for you and your friend (Nothing is greater than God)🙏. I'm glad you gave specifics on Trust being greater than love because I was prepared for a debate.....only to look at my relationships and think, this Man makes a valid point. Great content 💞
Wow! That's deep to be able to get to the cause of your son asking about food, usually we never find out the why someone doesn't trust this thing or that.
This is almost 2 years old but grief doesn’t have an expiration date. I pray you and the family are healing. Our family shall inherit our trust. That part. I love Beauty and the beast as one of my favorite fairytales. She had to love a beast. If she could see beyond the surface, her love would have the power to break the curse. Everything else would become divinely aligned and back in order. That was my story. I had to learn to love a beast and exchanged the ashes for the beauty, you will now receive. God trusted me and gave me good understanding to know that it was so much bigger than him and me. ❤
Wow, his heart was in the right space. God knows your heart. Let that loss of life be a reminder that time is the greatest resource that we should not take it for granted. May God use this moment to strengthen your cause. Apparently your reach is very far. Yes, life is so fragile and we must respect it and it's many lessons. When you mentioned trust it resonated so deeply. Love is such a fleeting emotion. In opposition, trust is not fleeting as it is the belief in one or something DESPITE feelings or emotions. Good Stuff❤
Trust is greater than love. Wow! I have to agree. I've come to understand (as a divorcee) that trust is foundational and should continuously be "watered" in a relationship. Also, looking for a future spouse based on preference will lead to disaster or unrest (at minimum). There is no catalyst for growth without the presence of purpose!! Beautiful episode.
I listened to this on Spotify, but I came back to watch on TH-cam to see your face. Very sad to hear about your friend. Shows life is very unpredictable and fragile. It's good that you were able to tell him you loved him. Initially, I said that communication and mutual respect are greater than love but after hearing you I understand why trust is greater. Your points were all valid.
I’m in agreement with trust is more important. I have to trust that what we are building is being built in love and understanding. However love is not an emotion. For me love is action , it’s being. My love doesn’t change cause I’m upset, or we are having a rocky season...... about Samson, he wanted to be in a place comfort. He didn’t trust her cause he didn’t tell her till the third time. He was over confident that if they came he would overtake them. He lost the battle because he forgot where his strength came from.
Just started watching. Commitment to God is greater than love. Because if you are committed to God then everything else fall into play. When your spouse violate trust and when years go by and love becomes different, its only through tge committed God can love and trust be reestablish, move forward and grow . I will continue to watch.
I am in awe of this. The nakedness that comes through here without shame, in love with that. Even the life experiences of your guests, I don't have to go through hard times to know that they exists seeing it in others is experience enough. Thank you
Sooo very sorry for your loss! May God bless you. Our family friend passed in June in a motorcycle accident days before his one year wedding anniversary and his first child was born the day of his funeral. Life is truly fragile.
I’m sorry for the passing of David and for the way it happened suddenly. I pray that time has given you the strength to heal from it and that you find comfort knowing that through the mentorship of others, like you would have done for him, his life and everything he could have accomplished can still live on. I believe love is greater because true love encompasses all of the beautiful things being patient , not easily angered etc but it also encompasses the challenges aspects with sacrifice, selflessness, preserving through the bad and even the commitment to always trust. The analogy of a trust between humanity and God and Christ is an interesting one. It all comes down to vulnerability to die to ourselves at an altar and commit to the new life of full love with our spouse that we’re reborn into, similar to the love Christ exhibited for us when he died on the cross, all while saying “forgive them for they know it what they do”. It’s wild that’s the love we’re meant to emulate but beautiful when both people are committed to working towards displaying that love daily , thank God for grace.
T.R.U.S.T. (Total Reliance on Super Natural Truth) My former pastor would say this and it's a faith thing to put your "trust " into something or someone. It's a risk we've got to be willing to take within relationships 🙏🏽
@@DearFutureWifey perhaps ...he ( my former pastor) dropped a lot of acronyms to help us remember certain points/ principles and that one stuck with me and resonated based on the topic you discussed. Keep the 🔥conversations coming #LIT
I think it is really that there are different levels of love, as there are different kinds of love. Like when you were finished .. I just said out loud without even thinking about it..’I love you’. And I know I wasn’t thinking about romantic love. I just love the way you delivered the message and love your declaration. I know, as I think you know you are going to find that love, God made one especially for you and you are going to find her. I think because of the love you have for someone you create an environment of trust, you do things to make them trust you and even more importantly, you not only put in actions, but you verbalize that they can trust you. You sometimes have to reassure them, you have to create that security,
1 Corinthians 13:13 Love is a verb, an action word. It acts as the foundation for all of the other things- trust, respect, compassion and intentionality!! Also, it’s a huge difference between love & IN LOVE! God bless you!❤
I honestly dont think there is nothing greater than love. Love saved my life. God is love. Because of the Love that Christ had for me He gave HIS life. Love isnt an emotion to me. Its an action. Its a choice.
You are really a voice to both men and women, opening us to a whole new level of thinking when it comes to relationships. what is more interesting is it is almost like seeing a flower bloom and being in awe at what it unfolds. This podcast is really a gift and I thank you.
My condolences regarding the loss of your childhood friend. What a blessing you were able to positively impact his life before he transitioned. Please hear my heart...I understand why you feel trust is more important than love. It reminds me that the Bible said, “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.” Psalms 118:8. Love is an action word, and mostly, not always reciprocated the same initiated. I think about the love you have for your children, in one of your podcasts, mentioning your why...Your son did not exhibit what you desired, but you still blessed him with a phone, not because of trust, but you love him, as Christ loves the church. God doesn’t trust we will always do what he desires, but he loves us to give us life and more abundantly despite of our disobedience! Him coming in the form of man, and die for us is the ultimate price, love. I truly understand your need for trust, but I would prefer you trust God, and he will present you with HER, and you will love her as God loves you. Love is I Corinthians 13: 4 - 8. My words may not flow easily, but I hope you hear my heart. God has your heart, and you will experience your shield. Bless you sir!
Thanks you have shown me what I need to go work on or pray for. I use to trust but so many broken heart. I can say I really love but realize what I am lacking. Thanks
Heeey, I found you on TH-cam you popped up on my feed.... Congrats on your podcast, also sorry for your friend... praying for the fam and children.... Dianna
My condoles about your friends, praying for you. I am new to your podcast and I love listening to it. I love to see my kings, beloved brother are being vulnerable, and healing journey. I know my love is a relationship unbreakable bond with the kingdom of Heaven. Keep up the faith work beloved brother.
I just love the letters at the end. trust is my biggest need as well. Can you please post these letters on Instagram as inspirational texts (us wife's in waiting can use the inspiration)
Going back and looking at some of your old podcasts and first would like to give my condolences for the loss of your friend. I am still sitting with the trust being more greater than love. I get where you are coming though. Always really good content.
What you say is true on an earthly sense and in our human understanding but not according to Gods definition of love. LOVE as God created and defines it incorporates trust. True LOVE involves trust. Yes someone can love you and cheat on you but they don’t TRULY LOVE you as as as they claim they do. Love is action. In an earthly sense you can love and not trust but in godly true love, all parties must avail themselves to trust the person they love as this is part of love. Yes this is a process. In an earthly sense you can trust someone (function wise ie they’ll pay the bills) and not love them but in a godly sense you should love the person you trust. But I get you ..... it’s just a process to align our actions daily with Gods raw definitions from His word Deepest condolences for your loss
Wow! I'm so sorry for your loss, RIP David, the days ahead will be tough. May the Lord be a Comforter for you and all of David's loved ones. Life is fragile indeed. David's sons are blessed to have a cool Uncle T to help and guide them thru life. Your love for David continues its expression through his boys. To contribute to the topic for me it's Peace! For me love and trust gives me peace and that's greater than love.
I send my condolences to you and all friends and family. As for the message in this episode, you hit the nail on the head. Trust has always been imperative for me, in every type of relationship.
My condolences 🙏🏽 & thank you for this episode. It's exactly how I feel & tire of explaining to men that do not value me. They give me no reason to trust they're sincere.
My condolences for your loss...and I will be praying for you and David’s family. Thank you for keeping it LIT and sharing your journey, God is doing a great work thru you.
I completely agree. It is trust. I have to say though in your example given about the man not being able to trust the wife to tell her xyz. Well, he has to give her an opportunity first to say I don’t trust you. He may be basing that on past relationships but that’s not fair to her. You (not you but in general) have to give the person a chance to show you before you don’t put your trust in them and step out on the marriage.
I too believe that love as illustrated in the Bible is the greatest; however, I do understand that trust plays a vital role in a relationship. Maybe we shouldn’t be loving people we don’t trust and vice versa. Another mind boggling episode. I know it’s late, but my condolences of your friend, I’m getting caught up on the episodes I’ve missed.
I would first like to extend my condolences to you & your friend's family. Glad that you were able to mentor him thru his journey and speak to him before his passing. In my opinion, true love and trust should work together not be greater then the other. Before you enter into a relationship you must do your due diligence and self evaluation. Why open your life and heart to someone who really does not respect you. It's not easy but you must protect yourself and your peace at all cost. Love these podcast, very inspiring.
Sad to hear about your friend...Life truly is fragile and it was great to hear how you told each other ' i love you,' before hanging up the phone. It then really shows us how important being intentional is in every moment of our lives because we just never know....This episode Uuuummmm.... TRUST!!! And the story of Samson and Delilah just nails it home. Before you said Delilah had that Jezebel spirit i was just thinking about that too having just listened to the episode before this with Nurisha. Trust is important... had never thought about it being greater than love...always just thought it has to be there in order for love to thrive and live. You put it in perspective. Thank you for this episode. Enjoying listening to the letters to your future wifey. I pause just before you start reading it to comment and then continue. Thank you for this episode👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Sorry about your friend. Because he reached out to you it's definitely a great deal to show you are on the right path. You're doing great thing's Sir. I believe that understanding in all things and trust is very important.
Trust is very important, especially if we can trust their walk with God, a person may not love you but will treat you right because they are first accountable to God, their fear and reverence for God will guide their relationship with you.
Trust and love work together; the kind of love that Philipians 13 talks about. I have trusted people that I didn't love and vice versa! I believe that they work together.
You have my sincere condolences. Trust - Powerful and I agree! It is the reason for most failed relationships and the seasoning for prosperous ones... I'm enjoying this journey with you! The insight and perspectives of your guests as well as yourself. You have very meaningful eyes... Your blessing is comimg!
The bedrock of love is trust, without Trust there is no love. I don’t believe that trust is greater than Love, because according to God’s word love is greater than all… Love never cease. What I do believe is that, to establish true love, trust is essential. We cannot love without trust, and we cannot trust without love, the two elements are mutually exclusive, and important to each other, becoming complete.
My condolences. The Word of God says without love we have nothing. However, what many people refer to as love is not comprised of what the scripture says love is.
Love IS not enough. I say this all the time. It just isn't. If it was, there wouldn't be any divorce. Keep searching....we will all find what we are searching for and if not, we will have stories to share about our journey. Bless you on your journey and sorry for your loss.
LOVE really isn't just emotional.Trust is the highest form of Love, to me. Respect is second. "And the greatest of these is 'love'. NOT the emotional aspect of it, but the KNOWING aspect of love, which is trusting that no matter how someone 'feels' about you, they will really always be in your corner. You really can't love The Father if you don't TRUST HIM, and HE said, "If you love Me, keep my Commandments. Keeping His Commandments is trusting the what He's asking you to do is for your good whether you understand why or not. My husband told me that he's not just looking for my feelings, he desires my respect and trust. That's LOVE to him.
Thank you for trusting us to listen, receive and understand your vulnerability and transparency. Your thought process and desire to seek God's truth if so profound.. thank you and may God bless & comfort you even more with peace joy and being happy on purpose..
This segment unfold so much for me I wanted to thank you personal. Thank you for being LIT.. You made me think like wow now I understand some of my break down.. You brought back memories in which I spoke as young as 13 years old saying “ if I can’t trust you no need to be in this relationship”.
Love is taking accountability for your actions, Love is having uncomfortable conversation, love is seeing and hearing the person, love is not walking out when the person needs you the most.

Sorry about the loss of your friend. 🙏🏽
Thank you so much. Much appreciated.
Trust is a must have in all relationships...once its broken its almost impossible to get it back...

Trust is a house built on a foundation of love. Like you said you can't have trust without love but you can love without trust.
I agree 100%. I believe trust impacts love on a tremendous level. That man had a journey of a life. Condolences to you and his family even in 2023.

Good Stuff❤
Sorry for the loss of your friend. When I saw your topic, my immediate response was TRUST and u emphasized and elaborated on it.
Thank you buddy!
My prayer for David's children, family, friends and all who knew and still love him
I am in awe of this. The nakedness that comes through here without shame, in love with that. Even the life experiences of your guests, I don't have to go through hard times to know that they exists seeing it in others is experience enough. Thank you
Facts!
Sooo very sorry for your loss! May God bless you. Our family friend passed in June in a motorcycle accident days before his one year wedding anniversary and his first child was born the day of his funeral. Life is truly fragile.
Reflections of Love. TRUST Wow this hits the Heart
Love conquers all...comfort sent your way for the loss of your dear friend.
Sorry about David , your friend. I pray for your recovery emotionally, and healing of pain all throughout for yourself.
I’m sorry for the passing of David and for the way it happened suddenly. I pray that time has given you the strength to heal from it and that you find comfort knowing that through the mentorship of others, like you would have done for him, his life and everything he could have accomplished can still live on. I believe love is greater because true love encompasses all of the beautiful things being patient
, not easily angered etc but it also encompasses the challenges aspects with sacrifice, selflessness, preserving through the bad and even the commitment to always trust. The analogy of a trust between humanity and God and Christ is an interesting one. It all comes down to vulnerability
to die to ourselves at an altar and commit to the new life of full love with our spouse that we’re reborn into, similar to the love Christ exhibited for us when he died on the cross, all while saying “forgive them for they know it what they do”.
I like that. Maybe the acronym is Total Reliance Upon Supernatural Truth.
You sometimes have to reassure them, you have to create that security,
I receive it!
1 Corinthians 13:13
Love is a verb, an action word. It acts as the foundation for all of the other things- trust, respect, compassion and intentionality!! Also, it’s a huge difference between love & IN LOVE!
God bless you!❤
Awesome letter the beneficiary the family broke that definition down!! Amen
I honestly dont think there is nothing greater than love. Love saved my life. God is love. Because of the Love that Christ had for me He gave HIS life. Love isnt an emotion to me. Its an action. Its a choice.
I would have to agree that trust is greater. If you have that, you have everything.
My condolences about your friend! Prayers for you and his family!
Respect and understanding are two things
You are really a voice to both men and women, opening us to a whole new level of thinking when it comes to relationships. what is more interesting is it is almost like seeing a flower bloom and being in awe at what it unfolds. This podcast is really a gift and I thank you.
Wow! That means alot
.... you're strong, truly Life is fragile...... for me respect is greater than love ❤
My sincere condolences on the loss of your dear friend.
Thanks. Well said.

Thank you for your time to share. I have appreciated all of the topics. They have helped me tremendously.
Its true trust is greater than love...when trust has been broken I can't move forward because I love open and wide..
Going back and looking at some of your old podcasts and first would like to give my condolences for the loss of your friend.
I am still sitting with the trust being more greater than love. I get where you are coming though. Always really good content.
I’m so sorry for this loss. May God strengthen and heal you and his family and friends.
I know it’s been 3 years but I’m so sorry for your loss.
My heart is pounding ....
But I get you ..... it’s just a process to align our actions daily with Gods raw definitions from His word
Deepest condolences for your loss
I just found your channel, I want
to thank you for your genuine perspective

@@DearFutureWifey yes, I have.
Loved this. So sorry for your loss. I felt your sadness brother.
Facts.
Though it is very much after the fact, I really hope your friend found the FULL freedom he was hoping for in the presence of our Lord and Savior. ❤️
My condolences 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽New subscriber here. Ask and we shall receive. Wish you well on this journey.
My condolences for your loss...and I will be praying for you and David’s family. Thank you for keeping it LIT and sharing your journey, God is doing a great work thru you.
Thank you. I really appreciate you.
Amen trust is greater respect too u can fall out love but if u have respect u can fall back in love once respect gone!
Thank you. It's never too late.
So sorry for the loss of your friend. 😢
Thank you. I really appreciate the support Tamika.
I appreciate that
This was a beautiful segment to share
Trust is very important, especially if we can trust their walk with God, a person may not love you but will treat you right because they are first accountable to God, their fear and reverence for God will guide their relationship with you.
I enjoyed this. Trust is probably actually greater than love. It makes total sense.
Thanks
Loving your amazing journey as a student of Life. I know you will find her!
My condolences 🙏
The bedrock of love is trust, without Trust there is no love. I don’t believe that trust is greater than Love, because according to God’s word love is greater than all… Love never cease. What I do believe is that, to establish true love, trust is essential. We cannot love without trust, and we cannot trust without love, the two elements are mutually exclusive, and important to each other, becoming complete.
Great perspective
My condolences. The Word of God says without love we have nothing. However, what many people refer to as love is not comprised of what the scripture says love is.
Love IS not enough. I say this all the time. It just isn't. If it was, there wouldn't be any divorce. Keep searching....we will all find what we are searching for and if not, we will have stories to share about our journey. Bless you on your journey and sorry for your loss.
Thank you so much! Welcome to the journey.
Oh No! I am sorry to hear that, my condolences to you and your friend's family. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thank you for your condolences.

Amen! To God be the glory.
