  • Easy way to retro fit a pump return to a concrete pond. Let me show you how to fit a tank connector into a fibreglass pond. This simple method is what I recommend.

    Hi after you put the connector in the wall how do you put the pump pipe to the connector to take the water out the pond

    • @leecalladine
      @leecalladine  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is a return pipe. Water is flowing back to the pond from the filter.

    • @81chilly
      @81chilly 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So how would I use one to get the water out the pond or would I use something different

  • @KoiKicks
    @KoiKicks 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Only thing I'd do different is glue the pipe to the connector first as lining it up and threading though after whilst keeping the glue clean from dust etc is difficult.

      Very good suggestion. In fact that's exactly what Matthew said when we were doing it.

    Brilliant video, really informative. How would you recommend fitting a return to a new blockwork pond that’s going to be fibreglassed? Am a little confused as some people are recommending just having the pipe protruding and then cutting flush but others are recommending using tank connectors but don’t understand where the fibreglass connects or how the connection is made stable and waterproof, any suggestions?👍😊🐟🈲

    • @leecalladine
      @leecalladine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The best way is to use a tank connector and set it in the block work with a section of pipe left sticking out the back. Then render up to it an and fibreglass into it.

    • @leecalladine
      @leecalladine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Don't let any pipe protrude into the pond. It could damage a Koi if it swims against it. Or flashes on it when it has a parasite. Smooth.

      @@leecalladine fibreglass into it?? Wouldn’t the water flowing out of the pipe force it’s way under the fibreglass if it’s not fully sealed ??
      only when I had mine done by mat at GRP linings, I left the pipes sticking out of the walls and he fibreglassed on to pipe then cut back flush with the fibreglass on the walls, then sealed with a polyurethane sealer so totally flush no bumps or screws etc and never leaks, 12 years on perfect pond no leaks no cracks or pin holes and smooth as glass.maybe he could help you out with these retro fits .

    • @leecalladine
      @leecalladine  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alansmall9071 the tank connector would be behind the fibre glass. It would be a larger surface area for good adhesion between the GRP and the fibreglass. No need to seal afterwards. Exactly the same as the connection to the bottom drain and skimmer.

    Hi Lee, really appreciate this as I’m just about to fit my returns. This video takes away a lot of my fear of installing them, will be adding them to a sleeper pond. What would be the best way to secure the return as I’ll be using a liner as opposed to bolting to a concrete wall ?

    • @leecalladine
      @leecalladine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need to put them in the wall when assembling the pond. Also cut slits into the sleepers then chisel out a slot. Much easier than using a hole saw. I did a video about sleeper ponds and it is very detailed shows exactly how to do this and more. th-cam.com/video/ng0bvRcAiPE/w-d-xo.html

    Great video again Lee - can I ask a cheeky question in a very rough way what would you estimate at cost to construct from scratch a 10000 litre rectangle pond in block with fibreglass and with bottom drain and nexus 320 ? Many thanks 🙏🏻

    • @leecalladine
      @leecalladine  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very hard question. Largely dependent on how much work you can complete yourself. How careful you are at getting good price on materials. And what refinements. Could be £4000 or much much more.

    Dam man dident even remove that lsyer of dust from the wall jist silicone strsight to the dust. No attention to seslingnthe 4 gole possision ether just plenty of silicone for the colit. Prety poor effort bud. Ps dont swing in drills the bit was like a bow st times even your boy said ey up lol. In hind sight ide have added some pipe to the fitting before fitting tonthe wall as now you have to slide a glued pipe into a dusty hole knowing the joint will be compromised.
