    I practice yoga 5 days a week. I'm very flexible overall. Yet, I still have snapping hip syndrome. I had a bad hip flexor injury in my hips when I used to run track and field. I've always known my hip flexors were a bit different. It snaps often when I wake up. It's much better after stretching but it still occurs. There's no pain, but I think there's a general immobility in the exact part of the hip that causes this snapping hip syndrome. I am flexible in some ways of my hip, but in others, it's so inflexible I have trouble with the posture virasana (hero pose). and other postures requiring similar hip rotation.

    I got snapping hip syndrome out of no where when I was in middle school. I'm not an athlete. However, with that being said, i don't USUALLY experience pain with my hip. Sometimes i do get some inflammation, which can either be in the affected hip or the opposite, for whatever reason, both will become inflamed whenever they feel like it. Mine doesnt bother me, but if your shs is really painful to you, please see a doctor! I saw my orthopedic surgeon!

    Can you tell me more about how you recovered and if they symptoms of snapping hip ever returned? I had this problem start on my right side when I was a teen trying to do thai boxing. Then through running and weightlifting, my left side eventually started doing it a few year later, to a lesser extent than my right though. I'm 34 and still struggling with this. I've been doing yoga for a year and it's not improving. I'm willing to do surgery. I have the internal issue explained in this video.

    @swaaahtome I just had surgery on both of my hips for a snapping hip. It is not a bad thing and you can start lifting not too long after. All they did was make one incision near my bladder/crotch area and move my muscle to the side and cut my tendant and reattach. Left side hurt more and was bed ridden for a couple days, right side i had done couple days ago and was able to walk that day when i got home. I recommend you get this surgery. Not a long period of recovery, just stretch and therepy.

I have trouble bending down to pick up things say on the floor and raising myself up. I don't hear much clicking on a day by day basis. But can be a little painful when getting up from a chair. My left hip has been clicking for years. Rarely pain. It usually happens during straight leg raises standing or lying down. The click is getting more louder and seems like it is in the inner portion of hip. I have quite a bit of osteoarthritis. Even though I don't have much pain, the click is more prominent, should I get this checked out, or wait for more pain? I can deal with the click, but if it is leading towards something more serious, I would like to know.

I no longer wish to 100% sprint and i cannot play as well as i used to. I don't want the surgery because of worries that it will make my hip worse. Next physio is in 3 days, i will ask for xrays to try and get more detail. At the moment physios are unsure and are just experimenting, giving me different exercises.

    60% of diagnostics for years are negative when in fact they are positive. Most Drs don’t find these tears until they go in and do exploratory surgery. These damn Drs depending on diagnostics are leaving ppl crippled with delayed diagnosis. I can barely walk anymore dying in agony for 20 years becoming bedridden by severe hip, back off hip pain and a massively swollen hip. Just now a surgeon is saying I may have a tear, chronic bursitis and snapping hip syndrome. If something isn’t done soon I’m afraid I may die from the pain. The pain in the back of hip is so bad my brain feels abnormal. The mystery is it snapping hip syndrome/tear there is massive clicking or is it si joint dysfunction.

Last April I randomly felt a tear like sensation to the right of my groin, I wasn't doing anything at the time but I'm wondering if I did something beforehand without realising. Anyways, after numerous visits to the GP I have got nowhere, the pain hurts when I lean forward, putting my left leg forward and leaving my right leg behind. Planking also hurts. The pain is also present if I squeeze my legs together, this gives off a painless popping sound in the area. Not sure what to do now though as I've got nowhere with the GP's etc.

    My snapping hips are so bad that I can no longer run (I'm 22 years old) -- It feels like something is "loose" in my hip joint. Both sides. It's been four years now and it hurts so much. Is this some kind of permanent damage? I'm terrified I'll never be able to run again :(

    I will not ever do surgery for this problem. My hips improved some and I foolishly thought I could get back into kickboxing since I was doing so much yoga. Well it seemed to be okay for a bit, then one crazy class that put so much demand and stress on my hip flexors dashed any hopes that this could be realized. I'm now doubling down on yoga. I believe if this just starting happening one day, then I can make it unhappen another day. Warrior 1 really targets the psoas at the lumbar to the illial.

    @swaaahtome Well i played football since the 4th grade until the 9th grade. I am going to be a senior this year and i quit the 9th grade. I am 5'4" and was squatting 300+ pounds in the 8th and 9th grade. I football caused it because for my height and how much i was able to lift and push myself beyond my entire limit then it strained me. Also my left hip bone is turned outward for some reason, so that i am much more flexible on that side so it made it easier for my tendant to attach and get stuck

    I didn't know this was a thing! I always feel my hips clicking and it's not a good feeling. It's not super painful, but it clearly feels like the ball of my hip joint is getting caught on something... the socket. I just thought it was a ME problem!

    I am 19 year old male. In shape. I was doing situps/crunches at a decline angle in my gym today, and as i went down i kept hearing a snap or pop in the area between my left testicle and my left upper-inner leg. Why does it hurt to raise my left leg as if i was going to skip steps to go up the stairs?

    • @nickotommery5132
      @nickotommery5132 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meibh O'Sullivan If it hurts in your outer hip (the hip flexor), then you've "maybe" strained it. You should give it rest, and put some muscle gel on. Avoid sprinting/ or just running with your knees up high.
      Though, when you feel like it, warrior lunges is a great exercise to strengthen the hip flexor.
      -Bests of luck :)

    • @nickotommery5132
      @nickotommery5132 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meibh O'Sullivan Don't sprint too much. Give it rest DAYS. No activity at all, except walking. Don't run with knees lifted high. You could make it worse.
      - I would say, put sports aside from now. Stretch it good and do it daily. When you feel like it's gotten better, you should start again, slowly and progressive. You really don't want to strain it "further", because then it could take months to recover.
      Hope it helps.

    This happens to me sometimes and also that area hurts sometimes, like a dull long-lasting pain. Occasionally when I lie down and I try to get back up it hurts really bad, like jolts of pain and I have to try a few times to change my position and get up... I wonder if that's really bad? I hope exercising helps and doesn't make things worse

    I'm 14 and my hip clicks constantly when I walk. If I lean to the side, my hip joint can usually slip completely out quite easily. It happens with my shoulders and collarbones too. My hips also make squeaky popping noises with a bit of pain (but I get pain in all of my joints and they're all loose). Should I see a doctor?
    P.S I'm not very active at all (terrible, I know) but I am underweight.

    I get a snapping sensation in my hip while running and walking. While running it is painful, but never audible. I have been seeing a sports chiroptractor for pain all the way from my back to my hips and in my legs but over the course of several months and various visits I have only gotten marginally better. Could this issue be a contributing factor to the pain I experience which keeps me from running?
