As an Aussie, I'd say that our hardest aspect is that we are so vast and there are expansive areas that look very similar to one another. I'll go 'hey, that's North Queensland', get it, but still be 200km away and lose 1k points.
being a local changes things a lot, for example because of my Finnish plant knowledge and travelling I can region guess very easily when I happen to get a Finnish round
"we need to send you to counseling about the baltics, they've been rent free in your head for like three years" -- trevor rainbolt 1:14:03 *this caught me off guard so hard lmao* also oscar maybe it's just me but you look tired in this video.... make sure to get some sleep during the christmas break!!
Belgium higher than Russia, Thailand, and Mexico xD I know you're factoring in Europe bait but guessing something like Germany on Belgium is still probably a much closer guess than going wrong region in the other 3 countries. Think you need to be more specific about mode / format for this tier list to make sense (e.g. NMPZ duels)
I have a video idea where you pick regional clues and rank best X countries for each clue with explanation For example: Architecture: France, Romania…etc Vehicles: Argentina (taxis) More categorize Landscape, License plates, Language, Camera Gens, Google car, soil color, utility poles, bollards, trees …etc The number of countries in each category it probably should not be fixed to make it reasonable
Bolivia is IMO the worst rating here. It's easy for < 1% of players who basically learned most of the coverage in it. But for people who don't bother to do that it's very easy to confuse it with Peru or e.g. north Argentina if you don't see the car. There are even traps of most Bolivian looking red brick architecture ending up in northern Peru. Hell, I've seen tournament players confusing it with Lesotho on rare occassions.
New Zealand is much harder to region guess than australia, the bottom of the south island can look almost identical to South Auckland/North Waikato, etc
Similar topic: I've completed all countries in explorer mode to 25K in move mode and made a complete list of all of them analyzing the difficulty in detail. It's probably fairly luck based, but I've found these countries to be HELL for 25King: Bangla, Mongolia and Ukraine. Hard countries were Lesotho, Madagascar, Senegal, Bhutan, Kyrgy, Philippines, Qatar, Thailand, Greece, Romania and Greenland. Difficulty was mostly about nothing (settlement and/or street names) ever being displayed or whatever is displayed is quite useless because it doesn't match the map. Another difficulty element was middle of nowhere referencepointless locations where you have to move 10+ minutes to get to an identifyable location. There are countries like Greenland where certain locations (like the capital) can be easily 5Kd without moving, but half the locations in the official map are 100% hopeless like boat in the middle of ocean or 5th tier tiny settlement with 3 noname streets and no location name displayed. Also it's important to note that gold rating and platinum (25K) are entirely different animals. Almost all countries are easy or fair if you only want to go for gold. Getting platinum is at least one whole magnitute harder.
Region Guessing Japan isn't too hard, even in rural rounds, with limited meta. Things have gotten alot better as more metas are discovered. Such as the Noto Peninsula Rain Coverage, The Iwate-Miyagi-Fukushima Truck, Some good plant metas like Bamboo, Asian Burch, Cedar Trees, Fuki(Hokkaido Cabbage),and Okinawan Palms have ranges that can help eliminate certain regions.
Would be cool if you did tier lists for country streaks and region guessing separately too. I spread this video out over a couple of days and really enjoyed picking up little bits of knowledge from it. Maybe I just want more hour long zi8zag content tho
I like the video idea, but you can make so many distinctions in hardness. The Netherlands is very easy to recognize, but regionguessing is very hard (I’m Dutch and I even struggle). As well, you should definitely include what Rainbolt said about the extent to which you can lose points on a country easily on an map like OCW. Most big countries are hard in that case.
I would for sure shuffle some countries around. For example I can't for the life of me regionguess Philippines, if I regognize it's Philippines in the first place. But from the point of view of a Pro I can see the list making a lot of sense. But every pro will have a different opinion based on the skillset.
Hard to make just one list consisting all play styles and modes. Country guess list is of course easiest to make, most interesting personally would be pts/plonk tier list on NM and NMPZ (which really need two separate lists) which this kind of is, but excluding the country guess aspect, which would put Croatia much lower.
I somewhat agree, but I would say Denmark is easy. And latvia is a bit weird to me. And russia is definitively not medium for me, it is #1 of hard for me.
As a Belgian myself I would say it's hard to region guess if you don't have any language. Because in cities and towns, the north and south kinda looks alike
Does anyone know if there's a solid guide out there to South-Eastern Europe? Watching this video made me realize the part of the world I really need to focus on is the countries from Slovenia to Bulgaria to Hungary to Czechia (like the countries in that trapezoid if that makes any sense at all). I have less trouble with the Baltics but these countries often trip me up because I haven't taken the time to learn all of the country specific clues that are out there
Quite good, wouldn't put Denmark so high though. Guys, play more AI Generated Europe and An Arbitrary Europe (and try to beat my NMPZ record on AIGE heheh).
I feel like the ranking should be separated into "based on nature" and "based on man-made objects". Because if you are a European who can read azbuka and has been to fifteen countries with fifteen different languages etc etc (not to mention one from a Slavic country who can EASILY can tell all Slavic countries apart) you are doing much better than a native English speaker who has no first hand experience with any other language and, upon seeing Cyrillic, does not know whether to choose Bulgaria or Russia.
The tier list needs more thought. Are we talking about identifying countries and/or points scoring potential?? As an average player, my tier list would be very different. Also, you might have consciously missed them out because of the UK but you missed Isle of Man and Jersey from your list.
As a South African I can tell you the map generation for the country sucks, the western half is way overly represented which apart from the Southern Western Cape is pretty samey, the areas with the most geographic variation are under represented.,
My favorite RC quote: "This looks suspiciously south." 15:50
sussy south
17:45 I'll never forget the moment when I was so confident for guessing south France and it happened to be Croatia
As an Aussie, I'd say that our hardest aspect is that we are so vast and there are expansive areas that look very similar to one another. I'll go 'hey, that's North Queensland', get it, but still be 200km away and lose 1k points.
As a Croat it's really funny to see Croatia as the hardest country in geoguesser. even when I get Slovenia I can tell it's not Croatia
Yeah one of the hardest for me also. I sometimes think it’s Italy, sometimes Slovenia, sometimes Macedonia, sometimes Turkey. You get my point 😅
being a local changes things a lot, for example because of my Finnish plant knowledge and travelling I can region guess very easily when I happen to get a Finnish round
“You need counseling on the baltics” it’s ok we all have that one country/region
"we need to send you to counseling about the baltics, they've been rent free in your head for like three years"

Been waiting for an updated version of this!
the second half of the video is rainbolt reacting to zi8gzag reacting to old zi8gzag reacting to older zi8gzag country's difficulty tier list 😂
Zigzag fans are eating good lately
Belgium higher than Russia, Thailand, and Mexico xD

All my homies know Croatia is annoyingly difficult 😣
I'm Croatian and I still miss it like 50% of the time on NM or NMPZ
idk man I don't find it that difficult...I actually often get it right, especially the coast, to me it's just very recognizable.
@@vlachlemnmichail coast is fairly gettable, but more inland is pretty damn difficult imo
This country has made me rage on battle royale countries countless times 😂
Right?? Croatia is literally in the hardest countries to get! I dont even know why
Would be really fun to see you play 1000 rounds or something and then see what average score you have in each country.
I get it but I honestly think Russia should be top tier just cuz how scary a random forest or urban is on nm/nmpz

Denmark positioning is crazy even after the adjustment. It's like NL, but without a Belgium.
New Zealand is much harder to region guess than australia, the bottom of the south island can look almost identical to South Auckland/North Waikato, etc
as a croatian i can confirm that even i sometimes mistake my country for something else (lvl 54 geoguessr, dont play multiplayer)

Over an hour?! Oh we’re in for a TREAT
“It does go medium” is this the new and improved form of “this goes hard”?

Lowkey a geoguessr explained video but instead of regionguessing you do baltic streaks or some other commonly mixed up areas.
I like the video idea, but you can make so many distinctions in hardness. The Netherlands is very easy to recognize, but regionguessing is very hard (I’m Dutch and I even struggle). Netherlands looks all the same in region guessing

I don’t think it’s easy for pros to regionguess Philippines lol

An hour and 15 minute video? Let’s gooooo

Denmarks architechture gotta push it down a slight bit atleast

We should have one of these every 6months or so , I feel like things are chaning constantly
good list, for me id bump up uk and ireland a bit cause of the 50/50 and russia cause skill issue
Trevor opinionshaming as always
South America and Europe is hard for me, I’m trying to get better at them
As a Croatian, i know my country, and it is easy to get it. I like people reacting too it 💀😭🙏🏻
New ZigZag Video Lets Go
Albania to me is the easiest country because the mountain formations are so distinct based on where in the country you are in.
when the top difficulty is hard
Was India missing from the list?

Usa, Russia, Brazil, Australia all has to go into hard.
Great videor ;)

Where would Montenegro be this time?

I love tier lists
NGL mexico is really hard
And thats coming for a mexican
Help its like 36 celsius as a normal temperature

Nice
Rip Montenegro
pros be like: idk what Germany looks like, just check copyright ignore all other clues 🤓
Do you know that you are on Akinator?
