    you have a very unique and fresh perspective on the voice, i disagree with some things, but in singing this is kind of inevitable. having a bit of nasal cavities can actually help the sound cut through more, and falsetto can help in learning certain techniques, so when you say these things are bad, i have to disagree. in the end, these are different sounds, we should just learn to control them and mix and match to taste. that said, your explanations on how everything works are killer!❤ wo kommst du her eigentlich? schöne grüße aus münchen!

    You explained sooo clearly, not everybody think or knows tgat us possible to sing lower tones with a head voice, but besides that I think it sounds better (and more powerful) with the chest goice, that's why I need to learn yow to use it.
    I have found and trained and sung always only with my head voice, but I have troubles with the chest one, I don't even know how to find that chest voice in a comfortable way 😐 Hope I find a way to access to my chest voice and then be able to sing mid and lower tones with more power and less air than I do know. Happily I think I'm very comfortable now with my head gouce at higher tones cause it feels and sound more powerful and less air than in lower tones.

      Thank you! Chest voice can be a little tricky to find if you are used to sing in head voice. I will make a video about how to find it at some point maybe it will be helpful to you 😀

    Timo Parker - You explain things very well Timo but it's also important to hear you sing before adopting your techniques. I cannot seem to find a single example of you performing full songs? Can you provide links to full live performances please or even studio but singing full songs in various styles would be great. Ty

    Thanks for the video. What do you feel differently when using head voice vs chest voice? Or if it’s a better way to ask this question, what are you doing differently? Many thanks!

    • @timoparker

      That's a good question and not so easy to answer. I think after watching this video, you got an idea what the differences are on an anatomical level.
      When I create these sounds I don't think about anatomy anymore and solely focus on how the sound that I create feels.
      Head voice feels much softer and warmer to me than chest voice does. In (open) chest voice everything seems more intense and also more powerful to me. But even though the feeling changes I always focus on staying relaxed and as passive as possible so I don't start overcompensating by engaging muscles I don't need to use or using air pressure.
      Hope this helps! Thanks again for a great question 🙌

      @@timoparker Thank you for the explanation. I’ve been asking the questions about the feeling when singing and breathing because my voice teacher always told us to feel our voice and not listen through our ears. She never would allow us to tense up our body when we sang. She trained us all classically, and I develop a five octave range. Unfortunately she died 10 years ago and when she did I started listening to other coaches on the Internet. Two of them were very famous SLS coaches. That didn’t work for me. Another one stressed how important it was to support your voice. He said it required the strength similar to doing a sit up. This did make my chest voice stronger, but unfortunately it ultimately lead to muscle tension dysphonia. This basically was because I was no longer freely using my head voice as you describe it. So I went through a lot of therapy and went back to my original voice teachers exercises, but still incorporated breath support where all of my support came from this solar Plex area. On a good day, I can sing “Don’t stop believing” or Toto’s “hold the line.” But the next day, my voice feels tired. To be clear my throat does not hurt, it is just that the muscles get tired. I can’t tell you exactly what my vocal coach would do or that any of us technically understood, but she created an incredible group of singers, some of which are superstars today. I feel like I was supposed to meet you because you are the closest thing I can understand to what she was telling all of us.

    any suggestions on exercises on how to learn to activate only the ct muscle? any vowels or consonants that help with that? instant sub by the way!

    • @timoparker
      @timoparker  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Love it, welcome to the community! You can not really "feel" the CT muscle itself which makes it a little harder to identify. But if you are not using air pressure (getting screamy on higher notes) or your voice breaks (what I call Falsetto) it is almost guaranteed that you use the CT muscle. Hope this helps :)
