Oh oh Mark! Don't forget to try the Ban Mi sandwich, or is that to generic and uninteresting. And also don't forget to try soup with rice noodles too.. I think they call it Kuay Jub Yuan in Thailand, we have this here as well.
Mark, You are really a true inspiration, because of your open- mind and acceptance of others, it is really encouraging and hopeful. I love your videos, the food, the travels and just... the entire experience. Thanks for allowing us into your travels, I am appreciative of your thoughtfulness and kindness in doing so, blessings to you and yours!
Not sure if anyone has already told you, but when eating the rice dish with pork and fried egg, its customary to add the fish sauce with chili on top of the rice. makes it so much better!!!
I noticed that your partner was in the video abit more. She is very beautiful. Vietnamese rolls are my forever favourite rolls 😉 It's amazing what some of these motor cyclist carry on the the back of their bikes! Really appreciate the videos you do. I can imagine it being hard talking and focusing where you're walking, especially in a busy environment. Talk about multi tasking. There's a saying that men can't multi task! Sure proved that wrong 😉 keep up the good work Mark!! ✌️
Hi Jem Smedley, thank you very much, and glad that you get Vietnamese sandwiches too. Haha, I'm not so sure I'm very good at multitasking though, I was definitely walking and sometimes had no idea what I was talking about, but I did some editing of the things that didn't make sense!
Like always Mr.Mark, the best food reviewer on TH-cam. Thanks for always giving the best reviews on Asian food Mark. With respect all the way from San Diego California, Mr.L.Molina
A superb combination of the delights of simple tasty food and travel tips :) Mark you have got the perfect balance now for your video blogs and it's quite noticeable how more professional your production and editing has become. Thank you for sharing your wonderful travels and making all of us feel that we are there with you every step of your journeys. Ryan.
Ryan Darcy Huge thank you for the feedback Ryan, and for the encouraging words. I'll still publish lots of food videos, but will try to take some vlog style travel videos like this as well. Thanks!
Pho bo is the only dish that will never make me a vegan.. is so addictive.. First time I tasted it was the instant kind.. but tasting it in a real vietnames restaurant.. it was mind blowing.. My favorite food ever!
I KNOW RIGHT? I'm from Thailand and my parents work in Vietnam, I'm so used to these prices but now I'm studying in Canada, EVERYTHING is so expensive like. it took me a while to get used to the pricing here. lol
Saigon is my hometown and I've been away from home for almost 5 years. Thanks to your video, I get to see my beloved city again. I hope you enjoy the rest of the trip and Merry Christmas. :)
thanks for your sharing, i'm a vietnamese and i love sai gon, your video make me know more aspects of the sai gon food and some good places to eat. when you went to the market, the saler was saying ''Hello'' very friendly, actually they didn't understand english even some easy words but they always say''hello'' to the foreigner this is the way of vietnamese to show their friendliness because the vietnamese really happy to meet a foreigner.
i love your video about Japan and i realized that you have more than 900,000 views of this video so i think they like Japan the most,i hope in the future you will comeback to Japan and make more video about it.waiting for your next video and especially some Thai's spicy dishes such as hot - pot :D
Just looked up the exchange rate. 22,471 Dong for 1 USD. Wow. Their inflation a few years back really killed them. Having been there on and off since 1993, I remember the exchange rate going to as low as 8,000 and it was at 11,000 for many years. The Banh Mi Thit (hamburger sandwich) is .76 cents !! Wow.
Thank you for sharing these videos Mark! I love eating vietnamese sandwiches, this is one of my favorite VN snacks. :-) Great job on all the videos. I love watching them all.
Bit weird but it makes me happy seeing people enjoy eating their food lol. Mark you make the best facial expressions when you eat, it's awesome! Keep up the great stuff.
ab202012 I actually find his enthusiasm quite endearing. I don't know him personally but from following him on TH-cam and Instagram he seems like a very positive and passionate foodie and a good person in general. "Stiff competition"? I hope you're not referring to yourself because that would be amusing. Perhaps the reason why he's married to such a lovely woman is because he's such a kind and friendly human being, as opposed to being an obnoxious jerk like you. Honestly, if you don't have anything positive to say then I propose you keep it to yourself. Sheesh.
ab202012 I was merely defending Mark then you go out on a tangent and started erratically ranting and insulting me in the process. Obviously your attempt at "sarcasm" was lost over the internet. Responding in such a malicious way just shows what a hateful person you are. And you say that I'm the one "polluting" this site with my "aggression" and "wickedness". Talk about hypocrisy.
Great video as usual! Pho is amazing, one of my favourite foods - I usually dip the beef in a mixture of hoisin sauce and siracha sauce and then eat it together with the noodles and then chase it with a scoop of delicious broth. And that broken rice pork chop dish looks amazing! Can't wait for more of your vids!
I enjoy your videos and you always display a lot of positivity. As for the crazy Saigon traffic and crossing the street with your eyes closed, how do the blind or disabled get around Saigon. Must be a real challenge for them.
I remember Tao Dan park had an outdoor rollerskating rink with strobe lights, disco balls, dance music with loud subwoofers, and mini hills and valleys to skate through. I wonder if it's still there. They were also playing Jamaican songs of all types of music, which I thought was pretty rad- this was in 96.' Oh, and go-cart racing!
Hello Mark, I'm a Vietnamese. Thanks for video about Vietnamese foods. And I love travelling and tasting food, too. I hope you go on do this not only in Vietnamese but also around the world. I will watch your videos. Thanks for sharing!
ah man you totally make me homesick Mark :) i was such a wuss when i came to visit, i never dared to cross the road without help from my cousins .. there is a dish but i think you normally get it in the outskirts rural areas. It's a fish freshly caught, wrapped in banana leaves and put into hot coals ... shame i forgot the name but i think you'd love that.
i spent most of today goin thru ur channel and watching most of ur videos mark ur videos are so cool and thet are educational and exciting thank you for sharing ur food journey with us
I learned that after you "lime Up" the pho, use the lime slice to wipe/clean your chopsticks and soup spoon. In over 10 years, I have never been sick in Vietnam and I eat in side walk stores as well as restaurants.
Bánh Mì Huynh Hoa is very popular in Sai Gon.This place is Le Thi Rieng street, dis 1.Ho Chi Minh city. And second popular Banh Mi,this place at Nguyen Trai street, dis 1 too.
I’m a Vnmese staying in S’pore. Your video makes me miss Saigon so so much. Ppl buy banh mi Huynh Hoa from Saigon to sell in S’pore (only small quantity) for 10$ 🤪 and I still buy sometimes. Because it just so HOME and it’s the most amazing banh mi.
You love your food very spices food very good healthy foods thank you for sharing your beautiful food nice place for food and lots of nice fruits as well thank you for sharing your beautiful video .
Idk how I stumbled across your channel but I'm vietnamese and everything you showed in your video has been a bitter sweet feeling of nostalgia of my home country. Enjoy your stay and eat away!😊
I think the people that made the videogame Frogger got the idea from crossing the streets of Vietnam. One thing I miss about Vietnam is the super delicious food and dirt cheap prices, 30 cents for a bowl of pho bo, a dollar for com suon, so good! This video makes my mouth water.
Hi Mark! I like how you answered all of the comments from your viewers. That must take a lot of your time! Lol I recently stumbled upon your TH-cam video from your Instagram account. :) Thanks for the videos and keep up the good work!
Watching your food vlogs really eases out my stress especially for finals week. Thank you so much Mark for your incredible work. I hope you go and visit Phnom Penh next 😃.
Hey Mark! Great video again! I had to chuckle a little when I seen you eat the pork chop as I saw you using that same flimsy spoon and fork as we have in Thailand. What made me chuckle was seeing the bent points on the fork pointing all different ways! The traffic in Saigon looks similar to Thailand but from what I see, the traffic looks like it flows better and not erratic like in Thailand. I think so long you flow with the traffic flow in Saigon, it will make it safer than going through Thailand traffic. Much mahalos again for the great informational videos!
Haha Jon Watanabe yes, same silverware in Vietnam as in Thailand! That's about right with the traffic, it flows and there's just overall a lot more motorbikes and less cars than in much of Thailand.
Since we have a huge Vietnamese population here in New Orleans, and we are the home of poboys, we have a BUNCH of Banh Mi sandwiches here. The bread is like French Bread but fluffier. Please don't mind if we give you any suggestions for improvements. We r your fans. We love your videos. Thank you Mark. God bless u & your wife.........lots of best wishes from me xoxoxoxo
Pho Dac Biet would have been better I reckon. With all the trimmings. All the meat cuts, herbs, beansprouts, chilli and hoisin sauce. I hope you had that while you were over there. Though the Com Suon (Rice with the pork) made me hungry... at 12:30am. Loving these Vietnam videos.
linited Thank you for the suggestion. I don't think I managed to eat Pho Dac Biet - I ate so many other noodle dishes though. I will remember it for next time. Thank you!
Great footage and food blog in my birth city, I have never been back there and I was only 9 when I left so I didn't really get to explore the city. Keep it up, I want to see more food! lol
Great video! our family enjoyed this video so much! watching you eat makes me hungry. I guessed that you'll go for the chilli as soon as you saw it. Crossing the road part was funny, enjoyed that a lot! hahahaha Can you show some shops where they sell kitchen equipments in Vietnam, like stoves..etc.. I'm greedy to see stuff like that too. :) thanks!
Chrysanths Hi, thank you very much and greetings to your family. I think I got a little footage of that in an upcoming market video. So much to buy and see in Vietnam!
Banh mi it good delicious and cheaper to in Vietnam , but some store banh mi never open at noon, there open in the morning and night to...thank man keep do good job my friend...
Of all the world's greatest sandwiches, the Banh Mi is in my top three with Croque Monsieur (France) and Shrimp Po' Boy (USA). Fun video Mark. The slow and steady traffic maneuver was awesome.
The banh mi place is the bomb. I ate their almost every night in Saigon. I also posted a vlog of the best food to eat in Saigon in 2017. Thanks for the great video!

Dude... thats awesome. I wish I could be there.. love vietnamese food. Your videos are so smooth. Do you use any stabilizer or you just have extremely stable hands while filming.. ?
afnaan khan Hey Afnaan, thank you for watching. I'm not using any stabilizer, just trying to keep as steady as possible, and for the selfie vids I use a Canon S120 which has very good built in stabilization.
For sticky rice, you should go to Bùi Thị Xuân restaurant. The restaurant is really famous for a long time. Here is the address: 111 Bùi THị Xuân street, dist.

Looks like fun

Great to hear that TheKarma101, when will you visit Vietnam?
The end of January
I think the people that made the videogame Frogger got the idea from crossing the streets of Vietnam.
One thing I miss about Vietnam is the super delicious food and dirt cheap prices, 30 cents for a bowl of pho bo, a dollar for com suon, so good! This video makes my mouth water.
Clement Teng Thank you Clement, haha, yah, half the time walking around Saigon you feel like you're in the middle of a video game!

The grilled pork is my favorite. My wife, who does not like liver, still loves them even though they have the liver pate on them.
Yeah, it's fluffy so your mouth doesn't get cut up like if you were to eat a whole french baguette.
Or New Orleans style French bread after 4pm (No preservatives so it gets stale so fast)
Bobby B Hey Bobby, nice to hear you can find Vietnamese banh mi in New Orleans too, and a poboy sounds delicious right about now too!
If you ever come here, I have a list of places to try.
excellent travel tips , thanks of the videos .will be in Vietnam for a week in January and this makes me look forward to it all the more .

A good bowl of Pho is when the broth is really flavorful & beefy. You shouldn't need to mess with it too much.

Hey Ying & Mark,
I love Vietnamese pork rolls with Chilli and soy sauce.
