Flower carpet 2024 in the Grand Place of Brussels

Deze morgen nam ik vroeg de bus, om te gaan kijken hoe het eraan toe ging bij het leggen van het bloementapijt op de Grote Markt van Brussel.
Toen ik daar aankwam om 9 uur hadden ze al bijna de helft gelegd van het tapijt. 15-08-2024
Men kan het Bloementapijt nog gaan bewonderen tot en met zondag 18 augustus op de Grote Markt van Brussel.
Voor het Bloementapijt 2024 kan je de toren van het Stadhuis beklimmen en genieten van een panoramisch uitzicht van 360º over Brussel. De inkom is 8 euro.
Elke 2 jaar wordt de Grote Markt in Brussel met een bloementapijt bedekt. Het tapijt van 70 m x 24 m wordt volgens een plan en in verschillende stappen gerealiseerd. Het tapijt wordt samengesteld door ongeveer 120 vrijwilligers die 475.000 bloemen in ongeveer 5 uur plaatsten.
Voor het thema van het Bloementapijt 2024 werd er voor
deze editie een beroep gedaan op Océane Cornille. Met haar creatie Rhizome knipoogt deze Luikse straatkunstenares naar Brussel en de art nouveau. De gebruikte bloemen zijn dit jaar dahlia's.
Tijdens de eerste 22 edities van het Brussels Bloementapijt was het de begonia die de Grote Markt van Brussel sierde om de tapijten vorm en kleur te geven.
Maar in de loop der jaren is deze bloem steeds zeldzamer geworden.
Dit jaar zal het bloementapijt enkel dahlia's bevatten. Dankzij een samenwerking met de vereniging Bloemencorso Loenhout zullen duizenden dahlia's in de meest uiteenlopende kleuren het tapijt de glans geven die het verdient.
De bloemen blijven uit zichzelf fris en blijven gemakkelijk vier dagen mooi.

Fr: Ce matin, j'ai pris le bus de bonne heure pour aller voir où en était la pose du tapis floral sur la Grand Place de Bruxelles.
Quand je suis arrivé à 9 heures, ils avaient déjà posé presque la moitié du tapis.
