The suspension probably needs set softer to soak up the bumps. Stiff is more for asphalt racing as it keeps the bouncing down to get the power to the wheels. You lose speed when you land the jumps.

Finish the campaign on Realistic Damage. That's how I played thru it and it makes things interesting when trying to get the target goals, without removing yourself from the race.
