Love this vid. Shows me a few things to reassemble the power valve pieces. The top end was all dismantled when i bought it.. Should buy a clymer service book
I have a powervalve for my 92 on order from yamaha. Not to my suprize its back ordered.... $177 bucks for a new one. Supposed to be here for the 22nd of this month. Im restoring this bike. The top end was completely destroyed when i bought it because one of the pins from the power valve ejected into the cylinder haha. Frame goes out tomorrow for powder coating.
Glad to see that you do your own mechanics , its the only way to understand every part and how it works , i am very experienced with the yz two stroke any problems etc contact me ,If you had a re.bored /lined cylinder , be sure to check the power valve clearances , and put some threadglue or similar on the screw that holds the 2 parts together , I
then i must of caught mine in time had a gut feeling that i needed to take the entire engine apart and come to find out the power valve bolt inside was so loose and the clutch basket nut was loose i only paid 250 for the bike and the guy before me has money in the bike hot rods crankshaft wisco piston boysen reeds and spacer full fmf exhaust gold series fatty pipe and i believe power core 2 silencer its a nice bike for 250 but that gut feeling told me i should take the engine apart.
Hi, I'am looking for a carb joint for a 89 yz250, the rubber hose with the two hose clamps on it that connects the carb to the engine. If you possibly know where I could find one it would really help me out !!
and good thing i did i love the guy feeling when something doesnt feel right about the bike im also working on fixing 4th gear also because the shift fork for 4th is so worn out it was not fully engaging the 4th gear wish me luck thanks.
Any clue why the power valve linkage from the bottom end wouldn't move up and down? i can't get it up enough on my 95 cr125 to hook to the power valve on the top end, any advice?
Is that cylinder overbored? If it is he probably diddnt modify the powervalve and thats why it hit. dont rebuild it without modifying the powervalve or it will happen again!

NICE! Mine ate the center pins too! Whoever rebuilt it didn't use locktite... tisk tisk tisk....
@SirSmighty your power valve gear is not engaging inside the transmission case, had that problem putting the case back on my 98 250.
thx buddy , i Would have busted mine, tapping with a socket , not noticing it had a bolt in the center :)

do u know if a power valve off a 1988
yz 250 or 89 250 will work on a 1989 yz 125
@Garret3579 I finally got it hooked up, ended up having to take the side cover off and redoing the governor wheel.
Piece of mind matt also , Bbrraaaaap !
I'm building the same bike. What reeds did you use? I heard you had to cut a little if you wanted to run after market reeds??
