Hi. I just saw your video. Fyi, I am from Penang, and most of here in Penang rarely go to Hameediyah because of it's price. They often offer luxurious dish such as turkey, giant squid, tiger prawn and many more. Hameediyah is like luxury place for a Nasi Kandar restaurant. However, thank you for your video. It’s useful to those of us, like me, who may not be familiar and now we know - ask first for the price for prawn, lamb shank and sotong 😅. Sometimes with long queues behind me, I hesitate to ask as I feel bad that I am holding back the queue. But better to ask than be caught off guard. And Jimmy is right, when you cook at home - it’s different and it’s really good that you can appreciate that when doing business, unfortunately there are different considerations. Good evening Ichang and Jymmy. So happy that you are both enjoying the many foodies in Malaysia. What you ordered here are at least for 3 to 4 person to share by most of the local folks. Stay healthy and looking forward to your next posting.

Correct. I agree with your fair comment! People who claim that the prawn is expensive have never been to the market.. that's an at least 150g 200g prawn. Poor iChang. Her mood soured tremendously after paying for that meal. But its true, seafood is expensive wherever you go. Even though Malaysia is surrounded by ocean, seafood prices kept on rising year by year a.k.a. source is getting scarce. Also, mamak is actually more expensive compared to other local restaurant. Similar to why 7/11 is more expensive compared to other grocer. For example, a fried drumstick thats priced at RM3.50 at another restaurant might cost RM5.00 at mamak's. Thats just how it is.

If you're in KL and nearby Kampung Baru, I would like to recommend you to try the martabak from 'Yati Martabak'. It tastes good and got lot of stuffs (chicken/beef) in it with the reasonable price (RM3.00/pcs) as well. After all, I enjoyed watching your video and yea the price for seafoods in mamak isn't a trap for tourist even sometimes, we local could feel like we're getting scammed by the price 😂

Husband, wife and 3 small children..and it's eaten on husband's payday ( + finally he received a salary increment after working like crazy for many many years)..hehe. Most locals don't even go near the lamb shank as it's too pricey and even on weddings if there's roast lamb served for the guests, we're only given slivers of that meat. Yea..small pieces only. When it comes to prawn, shockingly that was huge and we Malaysians never even had the chance to touch it before. What you had there was enough to make someone full for the next 3-4 days* 🤭🤭

For examples in Pahang there are at least more than 3 types. The chicken they used mostly are in the form of mincemeat thats why you could not find chicken meats.

Fyi, Hameediyah particularly their main restaurant in Chulia St is known for being the most expensive Nasi Kandar in this country as far as I knew. In fact their branches prices like Ampang and others are equally quite high. But again they are known for their original recipe and expensive spices used. They mix their own spices instead of buying a ready made spice from others. Thats why we recommend you to try Yusof Restaurant in Paya Terubung in another video of yours just to get another dimension.

    1) chicken (fried,madu,kurma) with bendi+telur masin
    2) lamb with bendi+telur masin
    3) beef with bendi+telur masin
Or just adding another dish such as telur sotong, sotong, fish
dont take so mush coz it will cost you more 😁

Jimmy and iChang come back to mahbub when you have a chance . The murtabak there is not bad in fact i prefer the ones made by Mahbub. Btw. I think the chicken is minced and added to the egg batter before the cook it and wrap. So chicken might be too small and fine to spot 😁

Nasi kandar wasn't 'well known for it's pricey dish'. If you order a piece of beef, one fried egg, vege, 2 ladyfinger + extra rice it won't cost more than rm10 in Penang. If you replace the beef to the whole thigh and drumstick, the price was around rm10-12. That's a reasonable price. What made nasi kandar expensive was seafood.
