- On this week’s episode, Zoe and Hannah recap the 2024 Singapore GP. They discuss Max’s press conference shenanigans, Lando’s impressive victory, and the race highlights, but of course they focus on the rumors that this was Danny Ric’s final race in F1. And yes, tears were shed. BUT, on a positive note, they also announce their capsule collection with Sunday Avenue, which you can pre-order starting on Wednesday, September 25! Enchanté forever, friends.
Shop the collection here on 9/25: www.sundayaven...
Yesterday was torture. I had to prepare myself mentally for every Daniel postrace interview (don't get me started on the pre-race ones). It was horrible listening to the media constantly saying it could be his last race. Give our man a break!
it was a tough one, that's for sure
I cried this weekend too! Daniel has given my family so much. My husband and I have so much fun together now with F1. And it’s given my kids and I something that we now love and can share. It brought us so much joy. And I hate seeing him being treated this way. Thank you, DR!!
Thank you for articulating a lot of the emotions that people in the F1 community have been feeling and wrestling with. It was beautiful to hear the significance DR has had on your lives. In terms of why now, I wonder if the success of Bearman and Colapinto was a factor in the decision. Although both drivers are new and have only driven in a few races, they have gotten points and shown that a strong driver can still make a big impact, even if there are only six races left.
Crying with you... I feel exactly the same way and didn’t expect to be this emotional either. Like you both said, it's the way he’s been treated that makes this so sad if this is truly the last time we see him race. What he’s done for the sport and its fans is truly unmatched. What stands out most to me, though, is how he’s carried himself through it all. I can’t even imagine how tough it’s been, yet he’s always maintained such a respectful and positive demeanour. Despite endless questions about his future and the constant commentary over his performance, he rarely lets the strain show. His anger or frustration never dictates his actions. I truly don’t know how he manages it. He always takes time for people, responding thoughtfully and with kindness. For that alone, he's an inspiration-and we could all stand to be "a bit more Daniel" from time to time. Drivers come and go-some fast, some not. Some leave with titles and wins, others with no points at all. You may or may not remember their names. But you never forget the ones who leave a lasting, positive mark on the sport and its fans. Daniel’s sportsmanship, humility, and infectious personality will always set him apart. Alongside his 8 wins and fearless reputation as the “last of the late brakers,” this will be his legacy. My one hope is that future drivers model their conduct and attitude after Daniel’s. You really can’t go wrong with that. Enchante xx
couldn't have said it better myself 🫶🏻
Don’t feel bad - I sobbed watching his post race interview. I also agree wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments. I knew this might have been his last season but for him to be yanked out of a car not even capable of scoring points is just not okay. He earned the dignity of his own announcement and racing one last time at his favourite tracks.
I’m not a fan of his. But they should’ve allowed him to race at Austin and go out that way, dressed in cowboy attire. He loves all things Americana.
You both summed up the influence and impact DR has had so well! He truly deserved a much better send off!
🫶🏻
Fair enough, Bearman & Colapinto reminded RB that rookies are hot marketable too. Daniel was hording the seat for too long, wish it could ended definitely but f1 is ruthless unless you have papa stroll
Really love the Sunday Behavior idea and merch! It's perfect. I also cried with DR's post race and I'm ready for him to move to Indy for IndyCar with all the other Aussies and then he and I can be friends. Or more than friends, I'm open 💁🏼♀️
thank you so much!! and I just hope DR finds joy and peace in the next stage of his career!
Can’t wait for the merch to drop!
thank you!!
Abbi Pulling would make for an awesome interview 🙃
Sad watching this after the way the week played out 😢
Been watching F1 for years now. Jensen Button was the driver I rooted for originally then came this aussie who joined HRT, torro rosso then to red bull and became a huge force in his first season alongside Vettel. Funny thing about drive to survive, who's the first driver that appears on the show? Danny Ric. He's the superstar of the show and has a huge part in the influx of fans. People often forget his 2020 season with renault where he came in p5 in the driver standings. Checo only beat him 6 points driving that "tracing point" Mclaren didn't work out, not because he all the sudden forgot to drive but there was a clear disconnect with him and mclaren's style/set up of driving. His time in mclaren made him lose almost all of his confidence. Redbull picked him back but only to throw him out now...fucked up.
People will always say "yeah well what has DR done lately?" well what can he do? He's driving a a horrible F1 car who's engineers were questioned publicly by their former team principal. The car is a disaster and has gone backwards since canada. How is he supposed to showcase what he can do with a car that never feels the same every weekend? Every FP session they almost never get the car set up right so he has to do what he can with what he got. it's not as easy as people assume. Put him in a ferrari, mercedes with the time to get adjusted and then see what he can do. Not saying he would be Charles or Lewis but he would do significantly better with a better car.
totally agree!! it still feels like he has unfinished business
@@fanbehaviorpod still one of the best to do it. if RBR had a championship worthy car back in 2015 or 2017, he would have given lewis a huge fight for the title. He still has a lot of time left in F1.. It's a shame. At least give him a proper send off...They did him dirty
The post qualifying press conference was hilarious. Lando joking that Max deserved it.
As a ride or die Checo fan, I too felt it was really unfair for Daniel to be cut mid season! It is such a cutthroat sport with a lot of surprises, but Daniel and his career merits better treatment from RB.
And I I hope you know how much you two have done for the sport with creating a women-centric space to talk about F1! I love my Mondays knowing I’ll have a new Fan Behavior podcast to enjoy! ❤
thank you so much for your kind words, they mean so much!!!
Ok, but you guys getting emotional about this made me feel so much better about myself. Because I was feeling dumb blubbering about it yesterday. lol
never feel dumb for having emotions!! we're all human and we're all in this together 🫶🏻
As a Bills fan maybe we'll see him hanging out with his best friend at Bills games. Ha. Also, I love the shirt that you got Zoey. Hilarious. I want it.
The merchant is amazing 😍
thank you!
I hope every viewer of this episode takes the time to consider the emotional investment of other fan bases in the hope that we communicate with more consideration as a collective sport fan base.
An F1 fan here since the Montoya - Schumi - Coulthard - Barrichello - Fisichella era.......
If Twitter - Instagram already booming in early 2000s I bet there will be more Williams fanboys and girls than Red Bull XD
Ricciardo's career is like Fisichella's in my opinion. I hope he moves on to another racing, like world endurance racing, which is getting more exciting lately :D
slight correction: over the last 10 races DR has outscored Yuki 7-3, not 5-4 🫶🏻
🫡🫡🫡 THANK YOU DANIEL 🫡🫡🫡
Checo is still racing for Red Bull because his sponsors were able to pony up the cash to make good any losses to Red Bull for coming second in the championship. Beyond the huge marketing protentional that Checo brings in the Mexican market both in America and in Mexico proper. Riccardo has a lot of fans but they bring in way less cash
Literally bawling when Daniel got driver of the day. My fiancé was concerned…
haha listen, we're all in this together!
FIA broadcast drivers dying but has a problem now with coarse language. Make it make sense.
There is a clause in Lawsons Red Bull contract that says if they don"t give him an F1 seat now, he is free to sign with another team, for example Audi..... But of course Red Bull could have chosen Perez or Tsunoda for this swap as well. 😢
I think the understanding was that the clause was for an F1 seat in 2025, not midseason. But honestly there's so much we still don't know about what's going on at RBR behind the scenes
@@fanbehaviorpod that is definitely true... I hope Daniel will move to F1 broadcasting. He would be hillarious 😄
It's Helmut Marko the leader for the drivers for the RB team? From what I have understood it was Christian who wants him back it's just he can't keep making the argument for both drivers (checo)
there's definitely a power struggle at play between CH and HM
It's so hypocritical of the FIA to want to publicize so much of F1 and give fans this much access, then turn around and nag drivers about how to present themselves and what "language" to use. You WANTED to capitalize on every aspect possible. This went from a sport where fans didn't get much beyond autographs and press conferences, to an industry pumping out merch, content (which is just random activities they make them do), adding even more (sometimes unserious) interviews to their hectic schedule. All while they're dealing with training, jetlag and fatigue. While the sport can be very entertaining, the management and media aspect of it sucks.
I boohooed unexpectedly when he went for fastest lap! Like boohooed. I turned to my husband and was like I’m sorry lol I didn’t expect to react like that! And I’ve cried again watching the post race interview etc. The way he is being treated is incredibly despicable. I’m so so sad! You shouldn’t feel silly for crying. My husband got me into the sport and he is a big max fan (who I love too) but it was Daniel and his huge heart that really pulled me all the way in. I’m so upset I don’t know if I even want to watch anymore, which I know is silly. To say I’m disappointed in Redbull is a colossal understatement. Shame on them. He will always be my fav driver.
It’s so many things: the disrespect from Red Bull, the disrespect from the media, the lack of closure. And then I put myself in his shoes, walking into that media pen knowing that everyone pities him. I can’t think of anything more degrading for a last race. They threw him out like he was garbage and just hung him out to dry in the media, letting him answer all the hard questions himself. Red Bull have single-handedly destroyed any good will they built up over the years, starting with Horner being a sex pest, and topping it all off with this shit show. I used to think the Max to Merc rumors were dumb, but the way things are going, it’s looking more and more likely…
it was really really hard to watch
👩🦰+👩🏻=⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great episode, will definitely get me one of those t-shirts.
thank you!!
Leave Checo alone! lol
FIA can excuse sexual assault allegations but draw the line with cussing 😑
exactly 🧐
