    Thanks for the post, Tim.
Another match I have not seen before.
Earl had not even gained his famous nickname yet, "Earl The Pearl."
Before Game 9, I thought I saw Jose Parica in the audience.
Even the commercials brought back memories.

Even in low-res PotatoVision it's nice to watch Earl play pool during the time before he started paying attention to the voices of The Weasels in his head.

To go from being a kid and seeing the Miz as some older pool player to now being 13 years older than he was here is horrifying.

The commentary was as enjoyable as the match! My, how their attitudes toward Little Earl changed! 🤣 You can hear the shift, right there, starting at:
    Her: "Oh...🙄"
Him: "THAT WAS NOT A MISS!! 😲"
    (Me, listening: "😁!")
This is my favorite match. It reminds me of the movie "Rocky", somehow. The underdog/unknown breaks through!

Are Wembley ties still available? No, don't make me google it, just a fun observation. Both players are certified champions in 2023, but in Mizerak was well known, and 1983 Earl was just starting his run of victories that later had him on the cover of Billiards Digest with his cue "on fire."

I want me one of those automotive cigarette lighter jumper cables, lol. Seriously though, In '83 Earl was rather new to tournaments but was THE man to beat in any pool hall in Texas. No rookie by any means.

I was at this match, and right after the final game I said to my friend that Earl would be the next great player to emerge on the pool scene. He didn't agree. I think I was proven correct, however. 😊
