    Question: Can you talk about the run over the bridge? ..Is this concrete or Metal grates. If so how much. IM concerned about what shoe to wear and if the grates will damage the shoe.

      No prob! It’s almost entirely concrete. From what I remember, there are two very small grates where the bridge’s towers are, but they are pretty small and won’t damage your shoes.

    If you carried a phone/watch with you, did the gps (Nike RC app?) remain accurate while crossing between both countries?

    • @FreshBrewRunClub
      @FreshBrewRunClub  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It was pretty accurate. Just make sure you don’t get hit with big roaming fees (I turned my cell service off for the Canada portion). You will lose GPS crossing in the tunnel though, but it’s only about a mile.

    3:04 we're on the same train of thought on that with the ID. I also have a passport card, so I just carried that in a ziplock bag in my belt. By carry the passport card, I don't have to worry about losing my driver's license or my actual full size passport.

      This is when a runners belt/fanny pack comes in handy!

    4:15 yeah, all the past before the pandemic and I think around mile 9 on the half marathon RunDetroit would be handing out gels. I'm willing to bet that GU just isn't being as generous after the pandemic with free merchandise.

    5:00 when all else fails, revert to beer shots 🙂. By taking stuff from the random spectator stands, in 19 I took a couple orange slices over in Windsor. I have taken water that's about it. I don't drink at all so no beer shots, although if I did I definitely would 🙂.

      I did the beer in my first marathon which was cool but probably not helpful for my pace!

    Just signed up for this and I know this video is old but I was wondering why you’d keep the energy gel? I’ve only ever done 5ks so this is new to me

    • @FreshBrewRunClub
      @FreshBrewRunClub  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So for energy gels, I take one for every 30 minutes on the course, which is 5-6 gels per race for me. It's recommended to intake at least 100 calories per hour. I store them in the side pockets of my halftights (I like Rabbit's tights). Does this answer your question?

    Is there any other time on the course where you feel the elevation? Or do you really only feel that incline on the ambassador bridge?

    • @FreshBrewRunClub
      @FreshBrewRunClub  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a decline/incline in the tunnel and some smaller hills after that, but nothing too major. The bridge is the biggest

    Ugh salted caramel is a horrible flavor when running. Tri Berry is good, but don't take salted caramel during the race 😀.

    You have to carry your passport the whole race? That sucks.

    • @FreshBrewRunClub
      @FreshBrewRunClub  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep. There’s two border crossings. I don’t think people get stopped very often, but you don’t want to mess with border patrol and risk not bringing one. I’m a Michigan resident, so I carry an enhanced ID card
