I know you created this post several years ago but I just got a cardo and your post helped me! Thank you!

Great video. I was driving myself crazy trying to get this figured out. Thanks for taking the time to explain it.

I have a 2020 Indian Challenger now working with CarPlay. Going on 9 dayss of trying to get it to pair and stay. I would get my Packtalk Edge to pair to motorcycle using dongle for CarPlay. Next day, it would not work. Last ngiht I deleted all bluetooth devices on iphone that connect to bike, I had to PHYSICALLY remove Carplay Dongle so I could pair to bike (not sure why, but tried to pair Packtalk Edge10 times to bike and it wouldn't until I unplugged dongle) Then I deleted all bluetooth items from motorcycle. So starting with a clean slate: 1. I paired Packtalk Edge to bike. This is the first time I did not roll the jog wheel rearward for "bike" pairing, I purposely rolled the jog wheel forward for 2nd Phone Pairing on Edge to try something different.
    2. Paired iPhone to bike. Even though I deleted it, bike pulled it up and asked if I wanted to pair. 3 Plugged in AnyFar CarPlay dongle and paired it. Even though I deleted it, it remembered it and asked me 3 questions to which I clicked Pair, Allow, Allow to let dongle work with bike. Then CarPlay showed up and was working. I was planning on pairing Cardo Connect app to iPhone (trying something new to avoid glitches) but the volume was so low, I had to connect the two. I paired it and everything worked fine. If for some reason if all fell apart the next day when I tried to re-connect (this was the norm for 9 days) then I would see what I would have to unpair Then came the next day and I restarted everything, for the first time, everything just worked. Now, the only thing left to test is to connect to someone using DMC Mesh and see if CarPlay is still working. So far everyting is great. So my new start up procedure is to turn on motorcycle helmet while in the house. Go to the garage and turn on bike. Everyting works as advertised. My iPhone is not connected to the bike, it is connected to the AnyFar Model A4 Dongle I got from Amazon and the Packtalk Edge. The Packtalk is also connected to the Challenger.

To get mine to work properly. I paired the Pack talk to the Bike, and the Phone to the Bike. I don't pair the phone to the pack talk. It seems to get all screwed up when you do that.

You mentioned as long as we keep the headset on, we will not have to start all over again but at the end of your ride when you turn everything off does this mean for your next ride you will have to start all over from square one again? Thanks!

I have not had any issues. Everything reconnects on the next ride.

Once you get connected like this, can you control the music through your handlebars? I.e. pause/skip etc?

Any idea if it's the same procedure for the chief bobber DH ride command? I have the same cardo but the ride command is a different from the challenger. I can get both connected (phone and cardo) but one or the other will cut out when I try using the ride command to control the phone.
    Thank 😊

When you get or make a call, does the music playing on motorcycle pause until call is over?

Yes, if you are playing music from your phone. If you are playing thru the head unit then no.

Can you make just the gps go to your helmet and music on bike?, also do you have to connect it to the bike to answer calls and answer them with the bike controls?

You can only do that if you use two audio sources. Example,: Phone pairs to helmet. Bike plays the music from a seperate source.

Can you please let me know if this process will work for Carplay too? Also, does your audio quality deprecate when the music is played on Cardo through Ride Command? Vs. Phone + Cardo directly

Audio doesn’t degrade from what I can tell however there’s another volume control on the bike it has to pass thru, so there has to be some cut somewhere.
