I SCREAMED when you said “I don’t want to copy ANY of those characters!” I’ve been doing really well with Echo (sans accidentally charging Zarya’s friendly, I’ve worked out avoiding her personal) and I think it’s because I play a LOT of heroes well, but I’m not great at anyone. If someone says “can we get something for this ______?”. I absolutely have a hero I play competently to switch to. So if the other team doesn’t have anything I can make an impact with, I hold onto my ultimate for a serious situation. Like to stall, or if it’s close to over time. Then I just switch to something with either a fast building ultimate, or someone stocky, or if our heals died I can duplicate their healer. That way when I die, I essentially get an extra life, and more time on the point. Oh, also if our carry died and has ult, or it’s overtime, I duplicate Mercy solely to rez them and damage boost their ultimate lol.

I'm shocked by the default button layout for echo on console. It is set up so you literally can't aim while hovering. Mercy has the same problem, but it's okay since you can also hover using the rez button, but seriously the default button layout is shit.
