    Please clarify what you mean by assisted open. I have a number of knives that, per their packaging, were called assisted open knives. None of them have a button or switch, but there is a spring mechanism inside to assist with opening. They open by directly manipulating the blade, either by pushing on the thumb stud or by pushing on the bit of the blade sticking out from the back when closed which becomes a kind of hilt once opened. They open much like the two you showed before the slip joint. They open just as quickly with the same satisfying snick as it fully opens.

    Switchblades are legal in Cali as long as blades are 2” or less. Google California legal automatic knives.

  • @anthonycatello
    @anthonycatello ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Cities have length limits. LA is under 3". Most others are 3" and under. The knife you show is legal in the state but not legal in most cities.
    Assisted knives are fine and in some ways prefered because it can make it more difficult to wrist flick open a knife. The Kershaw Spine for example forces itself closed if only half opened. Some cities prefer this.
    Automatic knives are legal if under 2 inches.
    Fixed blades must be carried openly.

    in several counties in california it is illegal to carry any knife over 3 inches. these laws override any state law that say you can. be sure to check local laws.

    Both Los Angeles county and city (municipality) have a blade length limit of 3" for ALL knives carried openly. Any knives carried in a visible manner must have blades no longer than 3" long.
    Also, carrying that knife with any portion visible (like carrying it clipped inside your pocket) might constitute "open carry" due to part of it being visible.

  • @TylerSnyder305

    Assisted opening knives are perfectly legal.
    Assisted means it has a bias towards the closed position and doesn't open till you apply pressure to part of the blade.

  • @Djsnifflez
    @Djsnifflez 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Assisted opening knives are legal to conceal carry in CA they just have to be activated by flipper tab rather than a button or switch like an otf. That is why ken onion invented the assisted knife there is a difference now between assisted and automatic. Its weird and confusing but blades like the kershaw leek are legal to conceal carry because of the flipper tab even if its spring assisted

    As long as you wear it openly, in a sheath, pretty much any fixed blade is legal. I carry a Ka-Bar on my belt most any time I leave the house. Never had an issue, multiple cops I've talked to have confirmed this. (Except in LA County, where the blade has to be 3 inches or less.)

    Plenty of CA legal switchblades you can carry, all about 1.9” blades. I have a bunch of the Kershaw Launch series and a couple of Bokers. I also have several full sized microtechs and a Benchmade Infidel I carry regularly, as well as a Buck 110 auto, and I’ve never had an issue.

    Knifes you can legally carry in Sweden:
    None, unless it's for camping - OR - you are into construction or a contractor, then you usually carry like a box cutter or a Mora knife.
    All knifes can be used to inflict body damage/and or death to a person - thus we have very strict laws:
    Can carry your working, everyday knife to and from work, but not into a store or similar.

I was just a Bass Pro Shop today and they several spring assist knives from all the major brands. I find it hard to believe that a major retailer like Bass Pro would be selling knives that are illegal in the state.
