I am 66 but just getting around to taking my first real drawing class. Describing your technique as you go is very helpful for me. Thank you so much for taking your time to help others.
This “play by play” of how to interpret folds from photo to drawing has taught me more about shadows and flow of fabric than like a ka-jillion TH-cam tutorials. The photos and drawing is understandable and the back and forth from each is valuable. More like these please.
Fantastic, Informatic and Thank you! It only took me a blink of an eye to what seem to be a long video at first to me and now I wish it should have never ended so soon. Thank you once again👌
thank you for using a model to show how to create a drawing of fabric. I think you and only one other person on you-tube has done this. Having the model of the shaded material next to your active drawing really helps with teaching the subject. Well done!!
Rick, I really appreciate the detail you used in describing what you do. I draw folds from the right side of my brain - so your explanations help explain what is going on nonverbally. This will help me more effectively teach it!
Great video, thank you. It's by far the best one I've found on TH-cam on how to draw fabric, as the combination of demo and what you are saying makes it so easy to follow. Next up, I need to practise what you've taught me. Thanks again!
Hello, I just watched this video and while I could sense your frustration with paper and table, it was a superb lesson. I like the idea of dark to light, good advice. Thank you so very much for sharing this.
Thanks for the video, I like doodling as a complete amateur, i guess what you explain in this and your other videos is like secret knowledge taught in art school, whatever, it widens my horizons ! Thanks again
You are a very good teacher thank you! I like your style of describing your techniques! Not all teachers explain what they are doing. I get frustrated with people who just do their drawing without explaining what they are doing! Yes, I can see but some explanation would be helpful 😨. Anyway your video was perfect you do wonderful explaining!!😊. Thank you I will be watching more of your videos from now on!🎉😊
I am very glad I always want to know how can i peint the foldings now with your simple way of observing and shading in the good way i understand realy thanks a lot
When you use the blending stump, do you find the paper gets damaged-even tho you do it lightly? Do you have any tips to prevent damage? I see you repeatedly add more graphite and continue to blend, does it cause your paper to change? Lastly, your videos are awesome, thank you for posting the “play by play” you are teaching me more than all the TH-cam videos,
When done lightly the paper does not get damaged unless you 'overwork' it. Use good quality paper and when you apply graphite do so lightly as well so it will spread easily.
*You are my inspiration.* *I've three questions you've to* *answer.* *1. When did you start?* *2. How many hours you practice* *and how many days?* *3. Any tip for new artists?*
Mine looks nothing like this. My dirty blending stump just kinda pushes dark graphite from my 2B pencil around and makes it look darker throughout the shading. I dunno what you're doing.

This was SO helpful! I love that you've explained what you're doing the whole way through.
Thanks. I have my moments.

Great tutorial. Appreciate you talking through each step. Cheers from Oz 🙂
Glad it was helpful! By the way, you mind telling the Wizard that I said hello?
Thank you! I am learning to draw and found that drawing fabric was my nemesis. Now I can't wait to practice! Before I dreaded it.
Have fun!

Thank you so much you are the best to show us this video
My pleasure 😊
Could you please also show how to do face lines/wrinkles/ spots in same way ? Thanks for this tutorial ❤
Check the videos of this channel. There are videos on face lines/wrinkles already here.
Thank you!! This was so helpful!
I'm so glad!
Really good video, answers a lot of my questions so thanks. I take it that there is minimum pressure on the blender?
You'll quickly determine how light to press.
When you use the blending stump, do you find the paper gets damaged-even tho you do it lightly? Do you have any tips to prevent damage? I see you repeatedly add more graphite and continue to blend, does it cause your paper to change? Love and hearts, so sweet
I loved the drawing man! You shouldn't be so apologetic though about the little problems you encountered, your drawing is great!
Thank you.
good job man. Thanx for the video! it is very helpful!
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
This really helps. Thanks!
Glad I could help.
Thanks. Very helpful.
Thanks a lot.
شكرا(thanks)
*You are my inspiration.*
*I've three questions you've to* *answer.*
*1. When did you start?*
*2. How many hours you practice* *and how many days?*
*3. Any tip for new artists?*
Started Sept 2014 and was drawing realistically within 90 days. During that time, I put in about an hour a day.
No way. One hour can't bring this masterpieces. You are a genius and a fast learner. Please post often.
Thanks. But I'm just a regular old guy. If RixCanDoIt, so can anyone else. Just know what you want to achieve and go for it!
Can I have your ig? So I can share some ideas.
Thank you
Thank you !
what is the best pencil product based on ur experience ?
I think the table grain through the paper added age to the fabric
Mine looks nothing like this. My dirty blending stump just kinda pushes dark graphite from my 2B pencil around and makes it look darker throughout the shading. I dunno what you're doing.
You have to decrease or increase the pressure you put on that stump. You can't just press and push.
@@RixCanDoit Oh maybe that was my problem, I should have gone lighter.
What is the blender you’re using? Thanks!
Just your everyday paper blender.
What is the kind of the pen ?Is it H?
Τhanks Rix!
+lampros mellis My pleasure. Thanks for watching. :-)

What's that white pencil thing?
It's a white pencil thing. Seriously, what are we talking about? You're probably referring to a paper blender or tortillon.
rix can do it
i got gibaited by the reference picture he used lol. nice vid tho
Getting gibaited sounds painful. Have you had that checked? :-) Thanks for watching!
