    Nice little Kabota.
    The Grey Market tractors were built for import to countries other than the USA. Japanese imports were fine here as long as they were built for here. Main differences were safety features. The Asian models were narrower for use in rice patties. They had a tendency to roll over easier here. No ROPS on the Grey Market tractors either.
    Many Kubota dealers still won't sell you parts for them. At least around here they won't.
    Those 70s Kabota are as bullet proof as they come. Keep the oil good and keep her cool and she'll run forever.

    Need someone like you over here in Pa lol
    And hey while I’m here, what is your thought of a John Deere B (or higher) vs the Farmalls of that era. The one you have there, other than maybe needing a little paint, looks great. Uncle has a Farmall...ah, pretty sure it’s an H or Super H, and my dad had a John Deere B back when he was young on the farm.
    Will definitely pick up a B no matter what, but I’m just curious on which you would prefer

    Crazy D, $1800 for a decent running 9N is really at the top of the price range for those. If it was all restored than you could justify that price. I see them in good running condition for $800_$1000 all day long. Why specifically is that one worth $1800

    I had a 1950 8N and loved it. I know I'm coming late to this video, but I hope you found a buyer for the 8N at the end of the video. The leak might be a bad gasket on the top cap. At about the area where you pointed, there is a galley that feeds hydraulic oil from the pump to the piston in the top cap. If the gasket is bad or the top cap is cracked, oil will shoot out.

  • @philipingram1667

    Just to clarify on gray market Kubotas - Kubota had a cease and desist order (CDO) against the importers as the GM tractors did not have PTO shields, safety switches and ROPS. There were differences in the mechanical parts as well but now with the rise of the Internet, I am sure you can now get parts for any of them. Also there is a Zen Noh version - a version sold through Japanese coops was imported by a WA company who sidestepped the CDO as they were badged as Zen Noh. Good video and to the point for the market needs.

    • @matt426h
      @matt426h 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That B5100E probably isn’t gray market. If this tractor was gray market, its model number would likely be B5001 and all writing on the tractor would be in Japanese. On the older models the serial numbers look a little tricky because most would start off with the gray market model number before the serial number since they used many of the same parts in this case the transmission tunnel. My family used to own a Kubota dealership back in the 70s and 80s. Kubota has a few articles on their web page that goes into great detail explaining the gray market deal and which tractors are effected. As for getting parts, you can get parts for the gray market tractors from the dealers if you know the North American version of the tractor. If all else fails the internet is loaded with places that have the parts available. Essentially the gray market tractors were the same tractor as their North American counterparts just as rugged and dependable but missing certain safety items to meet North American specifications because they weren’t meant for the US market.

    • @timothykeith1367
      @timothykeith1367 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most "grey market" Kubotas are the same as models that were sold by Kubota dealers. My B6100 is the same as a B6001 (grey). The issue became more complicated when Kubota lobbied for import restrictions on used equipment that lacked mandatory safety equipment like ROPS. Later, the Japanese government passed emissions laws which caused many older tractors to be exported. Check for parts availability before you purchase a used Kubota. Yanmar tractors have wider parts sharing between models than Kubota, but many older Yanmars are only 2 wheel drive. An older Yanmar will likely have a wider options for aftermarket parts than a Kubota. If not Ebay, online dealers like Messicks.com are good sources of parts.

    Those gray market Kubotas are great tractors, I have a 2wd L2000 (20hp), I paid $2200 about 8 years ago and it came with a loader, 5' finish mower and 4' box blade. The only issue I have had with it in the 8 years of using it is the water pump started leaking. I use the poor little tractor hard in our 1 acre garden. I have a JD 4010 with full hydraulic loader and cab then a Massey Harris 44 with a full hydraulic loader, hydraulic hook-ups, and power steering and a little 9n with a trip loader and hydraulics. 75k views on my suggested video. Heck ya. Gotta show a video of filling up the lp tractor. And whatever mic system the wizard uses go for that. And to be honest I would copy cat alot of the wizards ways of shooting videos. His channel seems to be rolling.

    ...I'd take any of those, but unless you are just wanting to mow grass, I wouldn't want the Kubota..just too small and light to do much else..I had an 8N, had some issues(loose rear hub and leaking axle was the worst one), but it was useable..traded it for a small Hinomoto compact tractor..BIG MISTAKE..the Hinomoto has a great running, strong little diesel motor, but it is too light to pull much of anything...and the 3 point hitch quit working..can't find anyone who knows anything about troubleshooting or working on them, almost no information on the internet, and have no idea where to get parts if needed..even though the Hinomoto is probably 30 years newer than the 8N, it was WAY easier to get parts, information, and knowledgeable repairmen for the 8N....

    If you have 2500 for a tractor save 2500 more and you can buy a realy good ford 5600 or if your small a ford 2000 and if you need a big hp buy a ford 8000 any 70s big blue tractors are just awsome

    By the way, I think Car Wizard's logo would look funnier if it shows him holding a flashlight 🔦 from his mouth. I used to see his flashlight in his mouth a lot back in the day.

      @@CrazyDEquipment central Illinois. I was lucky to find a 1952/53 AC WD , and WC for $300 each. WD had engine tore apart , left out in weather . WC was locked up. Everything froze up. Pistons / liners were junk. Wouldn't roll. Bad tires . Was planning to slap WC engine on the wd, but it ended up being more than soaking the cylinders. It was a bad time in my life for that big of a project. I parted them out and made a little money . Now things are better in life , everything project wise is over priced ! May as well spend $1000-$1400 on something that at least runs on starting fluid !

    Will the 8n's 3pt pick up and carry a round bale? About 600-800lbs

    • @CrazyDEquipment
      @CrazyDEquipment  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No the three-point maxes out at 800 lb and you would have to wait the front end down quite a bit to be able to lift around bill that size
