- I had been looking forward to this interview ever since discovering this band, and I think my excitement shows it. I finally got the chance to sit down with Niklas Karlsson, the front man, guitarist, producer, mixer, and writer for Sweden's very own Orbit Culture. I talked a little more than I would have liked in this one, but I absolutely loved the time that we got to sit down and talk both during and after this interview. We talked about the history of the band, his influences, their upcoming EP, the future of the band, and even got off the rails and talked about some personal and goofy stuff.

Seen a few interviews with Nicklas now, always comes across as such a humble and genuine person. He deserves all the success that will be heading his way.
I reached Christopher ( the drummer) on Instagram a time ago, just to say how this band has become one of my favorite bands and restored a connection that i thought I had lost with Metal. Like Thank once said it seemed that they found a way to my brain and wrote the perfect song according with my taste, the drums, the solos, the rash and the clean vocals and the breakdowns. Must important, Christopher did replied and he is the most humble sweet guy, that came to be a great influence in my drumming. All the best to this guys they do deserve it, and all the best to you Tank, your reactions are priceless!

Tank, you should do a relay question in your interviews. The person you interview gets to ask a question for a future guest. Wether you know who it will be or not doesnt matter as it would be fun to to hear something that the interviewed person is curious about.

My leg wrap nurse got here at just the wrong time. And had to talk to me about stuff. So I missed most of this. But I got the last 5 mins or so. And I'm so bemused, that someone so pleasant and nice can be so DEMONICALLY POSSESSED when he performs!

This pandemic got me to find you and get back into metal. I would not have gotten to know most (if not all) of these bands if it wasn't for sitting at home, watching YT and hanging on Discord. And I cannot imagine I'm the only one that's like that.
I just went to see if and when Orbit Culture would play in the Netherlands, turns out I already have another concert that day... I need a freaking time machine! But I am sure they'll be back some day, and I'll be there. For all you Dutchies that are interested, they're playing at the Melkweg in Amsterdam on December 18th.

Yeah, I just found that out as well, they're coming on the ONE day I really, really, REALLY can't go 😭 I'm not from Amsterdam though, and not too thrilled about Melkweg either (for some reason metal audiences in Amsterdam never seem as stoked as the ones in other parts of the country), so hopefully they're going to play in another Dutch city on another day. Fingers crossed! But I really enjoyed this interview 😁

Tank, this was a great and fun interview. I think, going a bit off the rails also made it more organically, like a normal conversation between two people sharing an interest in music. I found your channel a while back when I was devouring every single reaction video to anything Orbit Culture related, because I was so in love with their music and it made me so happy to see everybody else's excitement. You are doing a great job with your channel, both with your reactions and your interviews.

Loved the part of the interview where you discussed drinking. I'm an alcoholic that's been sober more than 30 years. I identified with a large part of that conversation. The lack of control that I had over my life is something that I never want to repeat. Thanks fellas.

There are no words for how fulfilling it was to watch this stream. For how big of a fan you are Tank, and how big of a fan most of us are…it just genuinely felt good to finally see you connect with someone we all love. Regardless of how much you thought you talked, you were speaking for most of us fans, and it was just so enjoyable to witness. So thank you Tank and thank you Orbit Culture for bringing this to life 🤘🏻

Dude! Absolutely. Love to share Orbit Culture to non-metalheads, older metalheads, modern metal lovers, melodic death metal listeners, thrashers and such. A lot for people can enjoy their music. Fear Factory's Dino Cazares even said they're the future of metal in a recent interview with Metal Hammer.
I can't seem to find any info on that. Do you have any sources to share?

Dino didn't use those exact words, but the headline of the paragraph did say "Orbit Culture is the future of metal". Dino just said he's been really getting into them over the past few years.

Please ask Niklas to release orbit culture instrumental albums, I know I really think it would be an amazing listen. ERRA just did one for their Divisionary album and it's given me a whole new appreciation for that album a full year later... Please Orbit culture instrumental please.
youtube and spotify are the big sources i get new music from. i watched youtube a lot back in the days for new music every single day. i bought my first Metallica album in 2003 and that was St. Anger album. i love Metallica for introducing me to metal. but later years im the person who listens to the most brutal metal out there. i still go back to the old stuff when i hit a soft spot there i can listen to some not brutal. but i love every genre of metal. rap, viking, metalcore, deathcore and whatever. bands like, Ensiferum with Jari of cource now in Wintersun. lorna shore, archspire, parway drive and so on, i got 1600 songs on my spotify playlist with whatever metal people likes. with bands that many people never heard of.

I remember last year watching one of your first videos man probably right after watching Chase Carneson's channel and going like 'yeah, that's something interesting, there's a new quality on TH-cam reactions with these guys'. If not for the pandemic I probably wouldn't find all that jazz. And now it's all coming back to normal finally, I just bought a ticket to Nightwish at Wembley this December and will start looking for all other bands playing in the area. I guess what I want to say is 'always look on the bright side...' Thanks for another super cool interview Tank. Now I'm gonna listen to some more Orbit Culture! 🤘

Can an evening be better, my fav band and my fav youtuber. And while I was watching it I had a notification that I could preorder nija so I had to pause it in take care if that! :)
And was laughing when Tank said that about that windows in the car.. I do the same and my neighbours started asking what I am listening to that I am playing so loud (living in a nice little posh suburb)… and I told them and now I heard at least three neighbours listening to Orbit when they sit out in the garden having a little party or so :)

I'm a bit ashamed that didn't hear about them sooner, being a swede and a metal head..... 😳 I haven't felt like this for a band in a loooong time. And just like you I feel like they write music just the way I want it. A week ago I actually went to Eksjö. I told my wife and kids we were there to see the beautiful historic wooden city. But I was actually there to stalk Orbit Culture band members. 🤫😎 Didn't find any off them tho...... 😔 They probably only go out at night 😄. 🤘🏼🇸🇪

The end part about new music from reactions is so true. I've found so many bands that way, Orbit Culture included, and it's most of what I watch on TH-cam. It keeps my taste in music fresh sand I love it.

Growing up I had some people around me who partied a lot and drinking was part of that. I didn't like what it did to them and decided that it wasn't something I was interrested in. For that reason I decided to never drink or use drugs. You hear a lot of substance abuse in the music industry and we sadly lost some great people because of it.
It is always great to hear when people beat it and carry on with their career and lives.

Thank you Tank for this awesome conversation. It wasn't a classic interview but instead you were just talking to another person. I felt like a fly on the wall as you both just hung out and talked which was very refreshing. It was also pretty special to see you get a little too excited which is exactly how I would feel if I was talking to an unbelievably talented vocalist and musician. Orbit Culture has became one of my favorite bands for the last year! Listen a lot to them. Looking forward to the new EP on 24 september and the new single on 27 august. Can't wait for the SiriusXM Liquid Metal virtual show, seeing them live with Thy Art is Murder in november / december in Europe + hopefully next festival season!

Pretty confident the entire metal community in the US loves Orbit Culture or will love them so they need to do a tour here. If they open for a band like killswitch or parkway drive (yes, there's many others, I know), holy shit, they can quit their day jobs and just make music from then on.

Like you, I used to be in the pits a lot growing up, and started finding myself near the sound mixers more recently as well, for the same reason. But like you, when Orbit Culture rolls through, you better bet that I'll be training ahead of time for it! lol!

Hey, Tank! I was thinking that it'd be great if you could do something like a live stream reaction on the full EP when it comes out, kind of similar to what you did with Nightwish's All the Works of Nature... but I don't know if that could have a negative effect on the numbers of the release...
Anyways, even if you can't or don't want to do it with this one, it'd be great if you could talk about it with the band and the label and do something like that for future releases. You can even have the band on the stream or something... I think that would be reaaaally cool..!
As always, really cool interview. your background in music and the "informality" of the whole thing seems to make it easier for the people you talk to to share their thoughts and experiences.

I personally don't drink any alcohol at all, but I can see the "WHY" for drinking. Especially after that hell of a last one and a half year we've all been through and with my own set of nasty little phobias nagging me. People get lonely and angsty and bored - and alcohol seems like an easy to get by and probate drug to get by. And just because someone's popular or successful - that doesn't mean they can't be unhappy, have fears or have other problems, especially when they're away from home. Humans are social beings (and that comes from someone that does remarkably well with minimal social contact) and being away from home easily uproots humans - and no matter how great appraisal and admiration might feel, I bet it still wouldn't make up for the lack of being with one's friends and family. That -said- written (and I know I'm getting all lengthy again, I just can't help it ^^'): I love that you speak up on these matters 🥰. Mental health is so important and a topic that shouldn't be pushed into that "Hush, hush - don't dare to talk about that" - corner, but often are.
