Politicians should learn how to to address the facts instead of attacking each other, they can’t recognize that all parties have made many mistakes. Throwing blame to each other shows that they can’t move forward. They lack the necessary responsibility, morality, knowledge and commitment to work for the people.

Denise Dresser, really?!? She is invited to many conversations on Mexico and always always, she pitches Mexico in such a negative light but Mexico is not that bad and Morena really has done a lot of great things searching for more equality among the people. Now, Morena isn't perfect but they believe more in the people and the country and Denise can't seem give a little more deserved credit for the last 6 years. Also, like this coming for each other and laughing at each other passive-agressively is definitely common in Mexican politics. I can't seem to warm up to that immature behaviour some 8 years living here.

. . No!

For starters, the drug trade is deeply imbedded in our government and has been since the first gringo bought a kilo of marijuana before most of us were born. The Mexican government, regardless of what political party is in office, has always had a moderator role in the drug trade. They arrange pacts between cartel factions, to create order. The US is in charge of regulating supply and demand. This is why cartels have existed for many decades now. It has not stopped with previous administrations and it will not stop with our current president. One woman vs a multi-billion dollar industry? C'mon now. Let's do some research before we get into this whole narco, cartel drug trade topic. In regards to research I recommend starting with the "Anglo-Chinese Opium Wars" and then working your way from that point in time to where we are now.
I remember the days of the PRI and PAN and can agree with most that things are much different now in many aspects, mostly positive and some are yet to be seen. I also remember when the AFI, the Federal, and State Police were tasked with fighting organized crime before Felipe Calderon's war on drugs, things didn't go too well. There was a lot of corruption and many higher ups had ties with crime bosses, there was fear and suspicion amongst themselves, state and federal agents, they didn't know who could be trusted and who cannot, at every level. This is why the National Guard is now in charge of fighting organized crime because thanks to our northern neighbor, the US, the Cartels have evolved, they have military, special forces training/tactics, and military grade weapons, the same weapons and training the US armed forces have. I've seen many incidents of municipal, state and federal police going head to head with cartel militants in the past and things didn't turn out very well for the civilian law enforcement agencies. They were poorly trained, poorly armed and most would rather turn a blind eye to preserve their own lives, or work for them and those that didn't comply would end up ceasing to exist. Now the cartels are up against competent armed forces. I lived in Guerrero, where it is known that the municipal and state police are basically an extension of the cartel and still are to this day and I genuinely feel safer having the National Guard handling these matters instead of them. I now live in Mexico City and I'm ok with the local police handling civilian matters, low level street crime. But leave the Cartel fighting to the men and women that have military training, like the Marines, Army and National Guard. I personally have never been hassled or had any type of problem or know anyone that has had any incident with the Mexican Armed Forces, although, unfortunately there are incidents where there are civilian casualties, like in any other country where crime exists but despite all of this I think people feel safer having them around, especially in the rural areas.
Objectively speaking, I think that in order to at least reduce cartel violence in Mexico, the US would need to help stop the flow of illegal weapons into Mexico that end up into the hands of the Cartels. They need to focus on regulating Big Pharmaceutical companies who are at the heart of this current "Opioid Epidemic" that started in the US during the times of the US Civil War and that intensified in the early 90's with the mass prescriptions of oxycontin and fentanyl to the US population. They also need to stop the Chinese from exporting the precursors necessary to produce fentanyl in other countries. They need to work on restoring the social fabric of the US. Without drug addiction there wouldn't be a market. Unfortunately, It's now a multi-billion dollar industry that has existed for centuries, since the Anglo-Chines Opium Wars. It is a monster that has grown out of control that benefits many renown financial institutions, among other government entities, persons, organizations in the US, Mexico and other parts of the world.
There have been attempts of maintaining order and regulating the drug trade by the collaboration of previous US and Mexican administrations and there was some level of order and "peace". But when you attempt to abruptly stop a monster that has long been growing, for decades, you will have little success in the short term and things will get messy, like we have seen during Calderon's term and recently in Mexico's northern states when the US decided to destabilize the Sinaloa cartel by arresting one of their head honchos. I hope that arresting "El Mayo" and "El Chapo" put an end to the cartel activities for years to come.
Realistically, the drug trade isn't going to stop. Where there is demand, there will always be supply. Whether it be the US (some guy synthesizing fentanyl in a forest somewhere next to his meth lab), China, South-East Asia, Afghanistan or Latin America (Mexico and Colombia). So how does one put an end to all of this, exactly?
The question that has always baffled me is.......
Why isn't there an Opioid or Heroin crisis in Mexico, a country where they cultivate heroin, produce fentanyl and where you could buy syringes over-the-counter at the local pharmacy for a couple of dollars?

Terrific question about the judicial reform, I personally think that will be affecting the independence of how judges will be under the pressure of the government to vote in favor of who is appointing them ( cartel, government, groups of interests) the judges will be unable to perform with independence, I agree that a reform could be use, however this is just insane and irresponsible to create even worse conditions for the Supreme Court knowing the type of corruption that still exists even with this new party in power.

You are totally right!.This new party that seeks authoritarianism and populism was created by a corrupt man named López Obrador who dedicated himself to spending money, putting the country into debt and destroying the health and education systems. It is popular because of the money the government gives away, but it does so for electoral purposes, because the money is given away indiscriminately to those over 65 years of age. There are many other "social programs" with the aim of obtaining electoral clients.

Those of us in our fifties, remember very well the old PRI. And many of us fought for a change. As soon as I turned 18, I got involved and spoke up against the one ruling party and against its absolute power. And it took México decades to become a real democracy. When AMLO became president, I was so proud. But I started to worry when he bagan to call everyone who did not share his vision, traitors to the country. It is heartbreaking to see how all our efforts to stop the ruling party ( the old PRI did anything to secure its perpetuity on power) was in vane.

The United States of America brings about the election of Judges on the ballot in many states .

Denise Dresser has written three books, each criticizing the last three administrations. She initially supported Andrés Manuel López Obrador but feels disappointed because he did not fulfill his promises and has proven to be deceptive.
Obrador even relied on her and others to achieve his victory in 2018. Unfortunately, his empty words have not been matched by tangible work. Many now consider Obrador to be the worst president in Mexico's history, particularly in terms of economics, health, and security.
