I totally agree with you Harnoor, people in India have a common stereotype that they need graduate from a really good college or else they won't be able to get their dream job. They think about what college they want to graduate from rather than what they want to do. They decide their career based on the college, which shouldn't be the case.

I work in Microsoft redmond and worked in Microsoft IDC both, I hired candidates in my teams at both places, and I can assure you, there is no difference between interview theme of India and USA, DS ans Algo is must basic skill for entry level positions, we see how you code, how you think, how is your problem solving skill , how wide you think in terms of test cases for the problem given.
no FAANG or Microsoft are interested in dev skills for entry level (FYI we hire lot of math BSC degree people , they easily able to do programming and design after some time even better,)
Is this a sarcasm? Okk I'm based in Seattle, WA. Not the classic SF bay area due to lower taxes here and cost of living. I can say for sure that in FAANG and microsoft, interview theme in US is wildly different from India. The tier in US here, Priority Order - Entrepreneurships/Startups>Internships>Projects>DS+Algo>GPA.

@@themillionairereview1469 I worked in 4 different teams of Azure and across teams, hiring for new grad is same, its only DS + Algo, we dont care about your projects.
watching his interview, now i understand why sumit sir is hero of all students , honesty is the best virtue. tnx to both of you i learned a lot from a single vid. I am confident to apply for pepcoding when i get my budget ready.
7:20 I am a final year mechanical engineering student from a tier3 (or maybe even tier 4) private college I am also interested in coding and programming but our college has organized a campus placement training in which they expect us to become an expert in DSA within 10 days instead of 150 days. when the training started the trainers assumed we already knew the basics. many students didn't care, some students struggled but nobody could complain because there were very few students(from non-CS/IT branches) who had no problem, and teachers blamed us for not working hard like those few students.
Even I want to learn coding I am mechanical engineer student wanted to make carrier in IT. Needs some guidance though

There is no drastic difference. It's harder in US compared to India. Some people get their internships converted and are lucky in US, or else it's pretty hard.
Leetcode is given utmost importance.

That's the problem with our system.... whatever we learn to get into institutions and companies is not relevant and ultimately we have to learn something else to survive....
Million dollar advice.. because in Tier 3 college even teachers are totally unaware about hiring pattern of indian IT sector..
Is this video uploaded for 3rd yr, 4th yr?? Bcz, its hard for a student to get 12 hours per day in his/her life. 9-4 goes to college, 2 hours journey, 6 hours sleep. This is the least amount of time that I have mentioned about. Even though we will be getting 9 hours, in which getting ready, break fast, dinner, If we remove we will be having 7 hours/ day. Which may again differ if we have mid exams, assignments, lab examinations, semester examinations.

Project semester is very important here in India also...In placement process it really helps.....marks and CGPA are only qualifying criteria not given much weightage after that.....then knowledge is your friend...

Why everyone is writing tier 3 etc . If there is 60 percent reservation why we are so much obsessed with IIT and NIT . More over the fees for this 60 percent peoples is very less . which is taken from our taxes . Start line should be same for all

Well the interview didn't go that well and I haven't heard back from Google. Well it was my first interview ever... But I learnt alot from this... hopefully in the future I will Ace it.

Small observation (may be I’am wrong): you appear to follow the same pattern in preparing students for the interviews as people follow in coaching institutes. CS is solving problems with computers. You should think in a certain way and develop the required skills to solving problems rather than memorizing few examples!
Unfortunately, we are a step behind in the supply chain. We produce what the market demands. Agar companies jyada smartly hire karne lage to hum wo he padhana pasand karenge.

Brother in reality just know this I am from a tier 3 college and the best DSA training center in India is geeksforgeeks in just less than 2000 rupees. Just a problem only a bit level students are comfortable there other students cannot cope up with that unfortunately.....

Mujhe nhi smj aarha main resume main kya dalu? I know ds algo.. Even i do cp.. but resume can't be fill by single word na? Toh kya kre.. ? Project nhi honge toh. .. resume shortlist nhi hoga. Fir ds algo ka kya karenge jb interview hi nhi hoga?
Use that ds and algo to make project. For example make a project which visualizes the path finding algo etc.

I think the high priority to DS and algo is given because these are the login driven concepts of computer science and play a really vital role in increasing the thinking power of students , but still i must say preparing for these top companies has been seen as an exam ,even if you consider companies which are medium in size they to ask the specific questions , and its very easy to know that at what topic they are going to stuck too , using their glassdoor reviews , this guy submit is doing the right thing bec even knowing these DS and algo makes you ahead of several people

Also learn something that is hard to break in. Java is very easy as you can download the language and start coding at home. The SAS programming language is difficult as you need a number of servers, data and SAS licenses. This is expensive, so break-in barriers are high and the market cannot get flooded. This way it remains a profitable source of income as people cannot easily acquire the knowledge and skills you have. Anyways it something for the youth of today to think and mull over. Also look at Wall Str. or City of London, sometimes it's better to be the man with one eye in the land of the blind. You will be held in value and esteem by your employer, this will also give leverage in any negotiations. In FANG there will be a lot of competition so you may not stand out of the crowd, better to be the Sirpunch than a chai wala. Quality of life, wife and happiness...

Anything for people who are already working in companies like tcs, wipro etc...But want to move to good product based companies...i have already completed my 1.5yrs in one of the indian service companies...Now i want to move for better oppurtunities...i feel i should move within 3-4 yrs...after that it gets very hard to get into the FAANG,MS other product companies....
