  • I got for free PS4 (model CUH-1004a) with BLOD (blue light of dead).
No hard drive and bad blu ray drive.
I wanted to fix my PS4, at least as a digital version only, w/o using a BR drive.
I'll show how I've fixed BLOD by APU reflowing and adding washers under screws.

Would flux paste work instead of liquid flux? I want to attempt this on a ps4 that turns on with a beep and blinking blue light then shuts off.

Sanjeev, did you tried flux paste? I am gonna give this a try over the weekend with a no-clean flux...hopefully it would work.

@@Grooby97 hey yeah I did try it, the no clean flux paste flowed well enough, I discovered though that there are 2 types of BLOD, a long one and a short one, the longer one is more likely to be apu. The short one as I had encountered, seems to be a power problem, I discovered a popped smd capacitor, only didnt see it was popped cause the top was still attached, when I probed it then it came off. Looking for a donor board to get caps to replace.

@@tybalttechnologies2192 I tried this and still BLOD. What is the Long one vs Short one? I don't know anything about PS4 and my friend, who gave me the PS4, said that it would randomly reboot prior, before he store it away. Is it possible that it's a PSU issue? If I leave PS4 on, BLOD would go on forever.

@@Grooby97Sounds like you have the long BLOD, did you try the washer fix already? Search ps4 blod washer fix. Basically installing washers between the apu clamp screws to increase mounting pressure on the apu. This is in the hope of making any apu solder ball connections that aren't touching to touch.

@@tybalttechnologies2192 I did..but with the method similar to this video. Will try others where the washers are directly under the screws.
