As soon as the Germans pulled out, the store owners put
'Hier spricht Man Deutsch' in the windows.

Always wondered why we rather than Russia liberated Norway, as Russia already controlled Finland.

Nobody liberated Norway. The occupation troops surrendered after the fall of the regime.

Same reason that the British Army in Northan Germany kept the Russians out of Danmark. Unrestricted, the Russian would have occupied the whole of Europe, up to the point they met up with the Allies. When the Allies met Russian troops at the agreed River, west of Berlin, the Russians made sure that the Allies stepped back a few miles later.

Germany effectively conquered Norway in a month and occupied it for five years with little resistance. 😐

      From Wikipedia:
_The German occupation of Norway during World War II began on 9 April 1940 after German forces invaded the neutral Scandinavian country of Norway. Conventional armed resistance to the German invasion ended on 10 June 1940 and Nazi Germany controlled Norway until the capitulation of German forces in Europe on 8/9 May 1945. Throughout this period, Norway was continuously occupied by the Wehrmacht. Civil rule was effectively assumed by the Reichskommissariat Norwegen (Reich Commissariat of Norway), which acted in collaboration with a pro-German puppet government, the Quisling regime, while the Norwegian king Haakon VII and the prewar government escaped to London, where they acted as a government in exile._

Like Holland they probably thought the Germans would ignore them, so didn't prepare for resisting.

@@dinerouk Norway wasnt prepared for an invasion from Germany. Someone can correct me, but I think they were manufacturing something for Germany, but the Germans were afraid the allies would occupy Norway stopping their supply line, so the Germans just decided to invade "unprecedentedly" instead to secure those supplies.
