    Galleon? GALLEON?! That my friend, is a carrack. Galleons didn't have the raised focsle. The carrack is essentially the predecessor to the galleon though and maritime terms have always been kind of vague, especially back then. Of course, that's on the developers, not you, haha! I still enjoyed the video

      Very true Mocha! You are right, they are definitely Carracks, or as the Portuguese called them Naus. As you pointed out the Galleon was much more streamlined, akin to the Frigates of the future, they did not have the huge towering castles at the end and front of the ship and were much more maneuverable. I was going to call them Carracks and Naus, but as you mentioned the developers named it a Galleon so I just rolled with it. Nice catch though, seems like you like Naval history, also a huge fan! Cheers for the info, and glad you are enjoying the content man! If there is any specific fight you would like to see, feel free to let me know!

I do believe the galleons in game can also be used for trading goods as in game that are called "nanban (Southwestern) trade ships" if anything the galleons are usually my main way of transporting reinforcements along the coast of Japan.

      Because it's not a galleon, it's a carrack. And a huge one at that, carracks weren't that big. They also weren't as poorly armed, this one is enormous but only carries 24 guns as opposed to the 80-120 it should. Exploration carracks did carry around 20 guns, but they weren't this big. The flagship of Vasco da Gama during his trip to India had 20 guns but only 60 crew, not 300+ like this one.

    The only thing the Mori slightly had going for it got eclipsed by Added an additional DLC clan!

      @@mastermuncher1492 The Mori shi is one of the clans go's back to the kamakura Jidae since 1225.
      The mori in the Battle of Kozuki Castle defeated toyotomi hideyoshi sent by Oda.
      Oda's sent force of 10,000 suffered loses, casualties & captuure of at least 1/2 the troops sent. The Mori losses where little to none.
      Kizugawaguchi 1st naval battle was a Mori victory though outnumbered with smaller ships but they would lose Mori Motonori in the 2nd battle where oda had 8 heavy Atakebune if memory serves.
      The mori supplied trade to the Ikko iki from 1271 via naval route since the ikko ikki wasn't reeally a clan with border but mad monk revolutionists of a sort.
      The Mori ended in the second battle mentioned in 1579.
      The Mori won more battles then Oda clan but could not suffer the losses at this 1 crushing defeat because their region of chugoku had little population to replace the fallen & Motonori's death in the battle left the clan effectively without command so The Mori became a vassal of sort's used to direct coastal trade mainly.
      This is a very brief over view of the mori master muncher.
      A clan that punched above it weight limit & made a note of it's self against much larger clan's.

    So many shogun 2 youtubers say the Black Ship isn't worth it in the campaign... I completely disagree and try to get it at every chance. The upkeep cost on this one ship is worth it to me. It replaces 2-3 entire fleets. Also it's great for leveling up a general. Lots of easy to win sea battles.

    • @kaleidoscope3234
      @kaleidoscope3234 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it's still a pain in the arse to locate the black ship while also bringing enough manpower to capture it. But yeah, if you do get it you basically control the sea, aka all the trading lanes.

      @TheFlyingZulu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kaleidoscope3234 It took me a while to figure it out but I can capture it with two or three fleets... and just one or two if it doesn't try to run from battle the initial battle. Use war cry while boarding and it only takes 4-6 medium bunes to overwhelm the black ship's crew. Even on legendary difficulty.

    • @Raptorsified

    • @kaleidoscope3234
      @kaleidoscope3234 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Raptorsified yeah but you need to remember the black ship can easily destroy an entire fleet and maybe taking a few scratches on it's paint against 2 fleets or more. Having 2 fleets in your navy you will inevitably take casualties and will have to replenish at port. The black ship eliminate rebuilding cost for lost ships and opportunity costs from having ships sitting duck in the shipyard after a battle or two.

    It,s a carrack. Btw its to big for the region of world. Such a carrack as big as in the game would be one of the biggest carracks ever build (yes such where build) but still it would have not 20 but 60 or up to 100 guns and then it would have a crew of 400 - 500 men (but only as in war time) a commercial carrack as big as in the game would have half of the cannons stript to 30 at best 40 and the crew would be at 120 men circa. Still even stript of the guns and most of the crew no asian ship at the time could take a fight with such a carrack. Even a asian fleet of ships would be defenseless agains it.

      Hi messi! Sorry that you are having trouble downloading the mods. Do you speak Portuguese or Spanish, I´ll give the explanation in English but if you want I can explain the process in those languages too. So, the first thing is that you need to subscribe to all 4 parts of the Portuguese Faction mod from the steam workshop. The 3rd part you'll have to download from a link that the mod gives you. Once you downloaded part 3 you need to go where your steam files are, click on shogun 2 and open the data folder. Then you scroll down and look for the 3 files you downloaded from steam, part 1, 2 and 4. Place part 3 after part 2 and that should do it. After you successfully downloaded and installed the Portuguese faction mod from steam, you should download Portugal Redux + from ModDB, the links are in the descriptions of the videos. Hope this answered your question. Keep me updated on how it goes.

    Honestly I never liked how top heavy they designed these Galleons. Like they look like they can capsize with a slight breeze. They do look cool, but it look better if they Mae the aft and forecastle 5 decks high with a 2 and a half high main deck. The nanban trade ships on teother hand look great in terms of design and accuracy.

    • @joaogomes9405
      @joaogomes9405 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's how they looked. Carracks had remarkable stability on open ocean because of how wide the hull was towards the waterline. The same design idea was implemented on the galleons, indiamen and especially fluyts that succeeded the carracks, to allow them to carry massive amounts of cargo without capsizing. Really the strangest thing about the black ships in shogun 2 is how big they are. The portuguese did not use trade carracks this big, with 300+ crew compliments. You can clearly see from the amount of cannon portholes that this is meant to be a war carrack that should carry 80+ guns, which wouldn't be near Japan with a 5th of the guns they should have. Why they didn't just make it a smaller carrack with 80 crew and 24 guns and make it very deadly at range but prone to be taken out easily through boarding is beyond me. It would have been both more realistic and more balanced.
