Merry Christmas. Keep up the good work. I am an old man introducing the Pi to my grandchildren and am pointing them in your direction for good information
I am so impressed with how frequently you are able to post high quality and in depth videos. I really appreciate your channel. Thanks for all the help.
Tbh Id like to argue that Pi 4 2g is the best value for the money given the current market prices. I rarely come near 2gig in ram usage unless I have several youtube video tabs up. 8 gig just feels redundant and even 4gb is kind of over the top. But since this is aimed towards newbies such as myself I can more then recommend 2gb, it was my first PI system and it deals with everything I can throw at it.
The rpi4 with 8g ram would be nicer but they all get hot and need "ice towers" and fans. The rpi400 is cooler and was faster. I wish I'd got a rpi4 for messing with but I like rpi400 as it's quiet and neat. I use twisteros 2.1.2 on a 120gb usb3 ssd . Not a win alternative, more for messing with. Everything is ok, video, sound, even cura for 3d printer. Getting freebasic to install was very hard but eventually sorted it. I don't do python or c so freebasic is my choice and great cow basic for linux I built with fb. GCB is a pic/avr coding in basic language. I have a backup in case I break it.

Great video for beginners who bought a Pi bcz when i bought the first Raspberry Pi 3B+ in 2019 there wasn't much tutorials on how to use a Pi but after the release of Pi 4 lot of amazing channels have come out like yours
For anyone interested, I tried Kali Linux on the Pi Zero 2 w. It does work ..... mostly but seems a bit of an early version to try at the moment. Bluetooth doesnt work and it runs out of memory easily and locks up quite a bit. Worth a play as it can look quite nice but probably needs a few versions before it is stable.
Don't know why 4k wouldn't work. I only own 4k monitors and I've tested 32 and 64 bit versions of Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu 20.04.3 and 21.10, Manjaro, Twister OS (only 32-bit) and Debian 10, 11 and 12 on my Pi4B 8GB. All of them worked just fine in 4k as long as you run the correct options activated inside config.txt. Debian 11 with MATE was the smoothest so far. Didn't even bother to install h264ify because youtube ran perfectly in 720p (Firefox). Also noteworthy is that Debian 11 uses less than half of the RAM that Ubuntu does.
Merry Christmas and Happy New year! 🎄🎇 Keep up the excellent work. I hope in 2022 that we will continue to be spoiled by you with such valuable and many videos.

This vid was perfect for me, it had answers to all of my questions regarding booting pi from different sd cards, I was thinking of getting a pi and using it as a Nas, an emergency router, and a portable pc but wasn’t sure whether it needed any additional configuration after changing the sd cards Btw I have a question, can I get away with using 16 gb cards for the implementation of piNAS and router (one 16gb card for each of em) or do I must have a minimum of 32gb? Also, can the pi 4 power on perfectly fine from a powerbank? Or does it face underpower issues?
This was a very interesting video. I found just the right info on where to go for extra installs and I will now finally make my Pi4 work like I want. Thank you very much, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
You said any comment welcome. An observation. I use twister os on rpi400 from ssd boot. I use the retropie app and roms were on a usb2 hd and worked fine but took minutes to start, the zxspectrum at the end took minutes. I got a usb3 sata case and 250Gb ssd today and set it up as before and spent hours copying the roms and it works... but it's no faster than the usb2 HD ??? But it's cooler and takes 80% less current. Running games is the same experience. Changing resolution changes twister display but doesn't change retropie display that I can see. I'm using snes starfox and starwing to test as I had a snes and those carts. It's like I remember it. Pseudo 3d but still fun. It's been "fun" and am trying charity shop displays for a portable retropie system. I'll send a video when sorted.

It looks like a learning cliff, not a curve, but I subbed your channel, you seem to know what you are doing.

Very good stuff! Recently noticed playing movies files on Kodi at 4K results in a choppy video like stucking most of the times. So nothing that can be done about that? Is to give up the idea of playing movies / videos at 4K on the pi4? Btw been using the resolution in raspbian set to 4k, will look to drop it down to 1080p and your recomendation! Just drop the resolution and accept that even and intel hd2000 will have better performance than your pi. Probably we will be forced to wait for the pi 6 before we can use for real the pi as a desktop.

I installed Vivaldi browser on a rpi 400 running twister os and thought it hadn't installed as it had a panel on the left with the vivaldi arm zip in it. It had installed and the panel can be cleared and a new home page can be set up. Anyway I clicked the vivaldi zip file and it asked for the admin password. Twister os default user is pi and password is raspberry but I can't find the admin password so I had to look up how to create on in the terminal. I had to type in some commands like passwd and entered raspberry as the admin password. I don't know if raspi os has a default admin password but for others maybe you could show how to use the admin password in Twister os. PS. the Ugreen hub I bought lets the rpi boot when the hub is powered so worth mentioning. It also works with a win10 pc when the hub is powered. My other powered usb hub stops the win 10 pc and the rpi from booting. You have to boot first then power the hub.
Will KiCad run on a pi? Also, I was wanting to know if it possible to make a tablet based on the pi CM4 that can do everything the HTC Jetstream can do(plus an IR port).. And Run Google Sky Map... which needs a compass. I want it to run a DeGoogled version of android.
Been running PI 400 with your plasma OS strange no sound Problem stated with the Tabs getting mixed up with 2 source playing at once in chrome Now youtube or News sites are silent butVLC is ok All the setting seem to be OK obviously there is a setting that's gone bad
In Pinn OS, does each OS have it's own 'home' folder, or do they all share one home folder? I'll assume they have different, especially since using one common home folder can cause issues. Thanks. Oh, by the way, great video. :)

Love this channel. Great information. I have Twister OS on a SSD set up thru Berryboot on a SD card. When I boot into the OS the time /clock does not run current. If I set up same for auto time setting, I get an error that the NTP server is not available. After setting the time manually, the OS looses its time setting on next reboot. Any help would be appreciated, as I know Twister OS is yr OS of choice. I have tried installing NTP server but does not work. Many thanks.
AstroCat ...... Tried everything you suggested, but still does not work. Decided to uninstall and reinstall latest Ver from the berryboot site. Thanks for yr help.
I tried to get Twister to run from a USB stick earlier, didn't like that at all, used the copy SD card from within the OS however even if I set the PI4 to "boot from USB" first, no go. I'm probably missing something really silly? Any ideas :)
Thank you for this video! I was about to buy my first Raspberry Pi 4 today, but wanted to check if there is something I need first. Out of curiosity, would a 64GB SD card (SanDisk Ultra) work? I have a RetroPie img build from 2020 that when I start up my Pi4B it displays the black diagnostic screen listing that the OS needs an update. I'm wondering if I need to use my 256gb Samsung flash drive to upload Raspbian through raspberry pi imager and try to update the system board, but I feel that once I power it down and insert my SD card with the RetroPie build that was created for Pi4B that it won't recognize the changes I made via the flash drive. I know that my operating system needs updating but it's structure is setup in partitions so I'm baffled as to how to bring up the terminal while the SD card is in the pi and the black diagnostic screen is on asking for an update. I continue to learn on this but I'm stumped at the moment.

If this doesn’t work

I have tried installing NTP server but
does not work. Many thanks.

Out of curiosity, would a 64GB SD card (SanDisk Ultra) work? I saw in your storage holder that you had one, but people keep saying that a 64GB won't work and that i should buy a 32GB instead. Is that true??🤔

I tend to not update Retropie builds as it often breaks things.
