Having worked in Social Services for nearly 20 years these problems have been going on for years. Social Care needs and NHS needs should be considered together; the two cannot be separated, or nothing will sorted out. The Government have been 'moving the can down the road' for years. It's a disgusting state of affairs.
Thank you for your hard work in supporting the elderly. Must feel like trying to walk through a hurricane at times. Are you aware of the charity We Are Hourglass. It is shocking that abuse/sexual abuse of the elderly happens in care homes and even in hospitals in this country. I hope that your media contacts will give some airtime to this charity and yet another shameful episode in this country's recent history.
Your call for a boycott of the commission is right. The problem is the organisations likely to be called to contribute will have CEO's with an eye on a gong in the honours system. We know the problems just get on with it. Failure to tackle social care now will be a waste of a huge majority
You are talking about politics, and devious politics at that. Anyone who has been in the NHS or social care knows where problems lie, but when hoping for governmental interest in providing anything, it is the same old story, and what better get out than setting up some investigatory body to take their time in coming up with what is already known and needed. Except they will delay in telling you that, but only if the final report is actually published rather than dumped into the proverbial filing cabinet way down in someone's basement behind locked doors, along with so many other such never to be seen documents. In the meantime just refer to the ongoing investigation if anyone asks, so the responsible ministers can avoid all questions and not have to spend money or seem responsible, as ''all questions will be answered in due time''.

Thank you Dennis for your continued work on behalf of those who have reached retirement from work.

I think they're hoping that we elderly will just disappear!! I see now there's talk of stopping free prescriptions. What else can they do to us??
Do we really need government?

It does very much sound like stalling tactics.
