      Thanks, you can get the decals here vintagedecals.co.uk/shop/4578711910/sailor-seagull-decal/6334766 I prefer the waterslide ones over the stick on ones.

    Could you share some pics of your stand? It looks like a nice piece of work on its own - I'd like to make one for my 40+. The stand in your newer video is too big for my space but this one looks perfect.

    I had this model with the one piece head and cylinder and no markings. Now I know the model. Great video and restoration. I now have a 40 +

    Superb Seagull - and video.
    A good few years ago I rebuilt one for a fisherman in Ireland. "It doesn't go."
    Sorted points. Cleaned carb. Went first pull - but NO drive to prop.
    Investigated and found the very cheap square tube 'driveshaft' had worn away internally until round rather than square - so just spun on hardened square gear shaft at bottom ...
    Would have been dangerous if out at sea when it finally failed.
    Cleaned out and reassembled it [new tube] with a dollop of grease internally to prolong the life. Would therefore recommend this on any Seagull with a cheap square tube 'shaft'. Bad design 'feature' ?

    hello Fergul. Great work. I am half way through the restoration of my 102 TC 1961, could you please tell me how did you polish your carburetor.

    • @1968ferg
      @1968ferg  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David I used a soft metal polishing kit from Halfords you just attach the wheels to a drill and work from rough to smooth with the different wax sticks and wheels.

    • @davidguy2839

      Hi Fergul. Thanks for that, i'll try that and hope it come as good as yours.

    Hi fergal, nice job!
    What paint have you used on the tank please?
    Got given a 40+ and cleaned it up a bit but yours looks incredible.
    How many hours did it take?

      I have a forty done in one of my other videos, I used Halfords gloss black spray can and there fuel resistant lacquer. All depends on how fast you are at polishing 😁

  • @GregoryPride83
    @GregoryPride83 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well done mate. Im in the process of polishing my 102. Do you have to keep polishing it to keep it like that or have you clear coated? I’m also debating weather to take the chrome off the water pipe. It wouldn’t be original but yours looks brilliant

    • @1968ferg
      @1968ferg  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just give it a wax polish every now and then and that seems to seal any pores in the aluminium, the brass gets a bit of a rub of metal polish, when it's stored indoors it will stay shiny for ages.

    I thing you may have your carburetter float bowl on the wrong side of the carb? it should be on the boat side not the tank side?

    Hi there, I’ve got an old seagull abit older than your example, how did you polish the exhaust chamber as it was painted/ plated in chrome?

    • @1968ferg
      @1968ferg  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I removed the chrome and took it back to the brass and polished it up. Here is a link to the restoration that might help. www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=90589511

    Would have been better if you actually showed how you did the restoration rather than after it was done, I have just been given one and need as much help as I can get with taking it ALL apart to repair and bring it back to life.

    • @1968ferg
      @1968ferg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are very easy to take apart the only thing you might have trouble with is the flywheel to do this get someone to hold the engine by the flywheel loosen the nut and hit it a wack. Here is a link to some of my restorations that might help you out www.boards.ie/discussion/2057219073/seagull-restoration/p1

    • @1968ferg
      @1968ferg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did but I live in Ireland and now with Brexit it costs me £25 in customs for a £2 washer so I will be doing no more 😞 along with other engines like the BMC's they are just not cost effective to keep running.
