Tahiti: Top three things you need to do!

  • Welcome to Tahiti! The beautiful main island of Tahiti is full of adventure, shopping and kind people. While many people treat Tahiti like a layover to other islands, we're here to tell you that there is SO much to explore on this beautiful island.
    So, we're here to share the top three things to keep in mind when planning your vacation! We're going to share where to stay, what to do and activities that are not to be missed:
    00:00 - Intro
    00:38 - #1: Visit the Marche Papeete
    01:27 - #2: Rent a car
    02:23 - #3: Vist inland Tahiti
    Tahiti is so full of options when it comes to diverse landscapes and exploring. Our first recommendation is to visit the spectacular Marche Papeete, the island's large pearl, jewelry, floral, everything market. We have found prices to be incredibly reasonable and the experience is so much fun. Tourists can buy discounted pearls, deemed too low of a grade to sell in the fancy shops like Robert Wan and others.
    2, you need to rent a car! Going to "the big wave" or exploring other parts of the island are hard by taxis due to the high price. We recommend renting a car at the airport and exploring the island. It may end up saving you a hefty sum.
    Lastly, inland Tahiti is full of waterfalls and stunning hikes. Be sure to get there early before the crowds - and don't expect the paved walkways like you'll find at California national parks. The hiking is very "au natural" as they say. At the end of our hike, we found an impressive waterfall. There are so many hikes, just minutes from town.
    Overall, Tahiti has so much to explore and we always wish we could spend more time on the main island. If you have any questions, let us know below!
    See you out there,

      Glad you like it! It depends on what you're looking to do, and how long your overall trip is, but typically if you're going for a week long trip, we'd recommend a night or two on Tahiti , and then the rest on Moorea. Do you have an idea of what the activities are you're looking to do? Or what hotels you're looking at? That really sways where you should spend the bulk of your time.

    The market looks beautiful! And you just can't beat a GOOD beach! I have experienced black sand on the west coast of New Zealand which living on the east cost most my life I never even knew NZ had black sand until my trip west!

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally agree!!! Omg New Zealand is so on my list 😍😍. I feel like there’s so much diversity in terms of landscape and places to explore. How long do we need to go to experience a lot of it? 2 weeks?

    • @zeishasjourney
      @zeishasjourney 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VoyagerGuru There is a lot to see!! And it is so beautiful! LIKE SPECTACULAR!! 2 weeks you would be able to see a lot! Being across 2 main island and then the tiny one at the bottom you could extend that time if you wanted to see the lot. I have done the full South Island (except Milford Sounds which I MUST get to ... but I live in Australia now so will have to to do a trip one day) I have also been lucky enough to see a bit of the north island as well. People rave about Queenstown - It is beautiful but very very over run with people these days nothing like it was back in the day, it has become so popular it has recked it a little but still very beautiful. Central Otago is very beautiful. But LOTS of places are. No matter where you decide to go you won't be disappointed!

    Love it! Looking for some guidance please. We will only have one full day and a half in Tahiti before getting on our cruise. When we come back into port PPT we plan to walk onto ferry to Moorea and stay 3 nights. I have a rental car booked on both ends with Avis but a bit nervous about finding a taxi from the airport to cruise port & then again from ferry doc to airport. Whats the best way to get a taxi or do we need to schedule ahead?
    OR should we consider taking the car from Moorea onto ferry and explore a bit more before our 11:35 pm flight? I’m so conflicted on this. I don’t want to have to stress about getting the car onto the ferry etc. also we will have luggage to deal with & dragging it around for 4-5 hours before flight may be a pain.

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Kelly!! Thanks for reaching out! So taxis are very easy to get so honestly don’t worry about that part. They are plenty around Tahiti and they’re fair when it comes to pricing- it’s not cheap, but not a scam either.
      You can pre book ferry tickets which I do recommend if you have a car because then you’ll be guaranteed a spot on the ferry you want. It’s a small port too so it’s easy to navigate. That’s definitely easier with a lot of luggage and then returning the car to the airport. It’s about $20 from the airport to town in a taxi so you could save a few bucks too ultimately.
      That being said if you don’t want to worry about getting a car on the ferry, you can easily get cabs once you get to the ferry port in Tahiti. we left our bags with the restaurant Tres Brasseurs after lunch and went shopping most of the day and had beers and such at the restaurant after before heading to dinner at Intercon and the airport after (check in opens 3 hours before your flight). It’s a small town all around so that’s very easy and safe to do as well.
      If you need any help deciding what to do or have any questions feel free to DM me on IG or email me at team@voyagerguru.com :) xx maren

    Hi again, question for you. Will Google maps work over there on my Verizon international plan? Just wondering how we will find everything that we want to see. Also our flight gets in late at night so not sure what food options we will have.

    • @VoyagerGuru
      @VoyagerGuru  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Kelly! Thanks for reaching out! If you have an international plan, it will work. However, I actually recommend you download the map for the area before you go because it can be quite slow. We always down the map for international destinations so you don't waste data when driving around an exploring :). If you arrive late at night on any day except sunday, you will have some options depending on the time. There are a few bars/restaurants open late in Papeete. Where are you staying? Your hotel should also be able to accommodate a late night meal.
