Why? I cannot imagine a life so poorly lived that not one person in our family, not one person you have ever known will take you in. Anyone I have ever known who finds themself in such dire circumstances due to no fault of their own could appear at my door at this moment and I would let them in. They would have a place to live for the time it took them to get back on their feet. I know that would not be very long because they would immediately go back to doing what they had done before that had made them able to support themself until something beyond their control, like losing their business because of a pandemic, and subsequently losing their home. The reality is that most people who are homeless are suffering from a self-inflicted wound. Most abused drugs and/or alcohol, and caused their homelessness. If I let one of them in, they would steal my chainsaw to hock to have money to get high and/or drunk. Nope. They can starve and freeze. And I was raised by a raving drunk who started going to AA meetings, so I have a tremendous amount of experience with him, and with countless people I met through that organization. So don't they that "You don't know the struggle of addiction" crap with me. People volunteer to risk becoming a drunk or an addict. "I know this might ruin my life, might put my Mother in an early grave, but f*#k her and everybody else. I want to get high with my friends." Nope. No sympathy from me.
yet every officer has EXTRA CASH coming outta their wazzzhoo....kinda a fucked up thing just like the other day when Lady GaGa offered $500k to get her 2 dogs that were stolen back, no questions asked!! WHEN WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY WHERE 1 PERSON CAN DUMP $500K WITHOUT QUESTION yet less than a mile away there are people starving, WE HAVE FAILED AS A SOCIETY IMO.
I will pray for the true servants of Christ that their hearts will be broken and that we all realize that our righteousness is as filthy rags before a holy God. That we may all reach out to everyone including the homeless. Jesus left the splendor of heaven, being perfect, to live essentially as a homeless person for 3.5 years until the religious hypocrites of his day crucified him. He had no place to lay his head at night. He bled and died a horrible death that we, though wretched and sinful, might be saved. Jesus spoke of those who act like this as neither hot nor cold and that he would vomit them out of his mouth. May God have mercy on us and help us to change.
They were on their best behavior, when they saw the camera. The officer (or security guard) said "no, it's not that way"... the whole reason they even came, was to run you off. The hypocrisy of that "church" is blinding 🤦♂️
I'm from the Hampton Roads area in Virginia and all the churches in our area take turns caring for the homeless at night during the winter. We give him a place to get clean and eat and make sure they take their meds and give them a place to sleep. And we have a sheriff outside just to make sure everyone is safe. My City of Newport News Virginia now has a day center for the homeless, they can get clean they're fed and we even have a day room for them to relax. They also can get IDs Medical Care and free clothing. It's just a shame we don't have permanent housing for them yet like hopefully someday soon! Keep up the good work Jeff, much love and respect!
An attempt at, but a failure to, enforce tyranny. It's unfortunate that those who are homeless do have some level of tyranny enforced on them. Thanks for exposing the cognitive dissonance of this religious business. I will also make it clear that homelessness is a failure of all of society
"Unenforced tyranny" simply is not tyranny. Tyranny, by definition, involves force. If nothing is forced, then it's not tyranny. It might still be problematic for OTHER reasons, but it's not tyranny if no one enforces it.

1. its a public sidewalk. 2. the 1st amendment is still in existence. but I do find it disturbing that the cop kinda commanded this person to "move along" (@4:40), but then quickly changed his tune when the person said NO. its obvious these people do a briefing and their commander tells them to say such things, to attempt power over people. most people would subconsciously obey security/ law enforcement in such instances. the "I was just doing my job" excuse wont work if/when all hell breaks loose. history has shown us that, repeatedly.
I believe they realised you were recording them, and that made a big difference. At 06:03, that officer Holland walked to the sergeant and probably mentioned it too.

I have to say that as a pastor, had you come to my church as you did in this video, I would have definitely invited you as my guest to stand in the foyer of the church and share your message. We all need to be reminded of the plight of others, as well as, the blessings of our rights in this country. We ALL need a good shaking now and then! Keep up the good work! You are definitely an example to others that this can be done without acting badly to others. Golden Rule....
"I'm gonna need to get you to move on" Who the fuck does this security guard think he is telling a member of the public to "move along" when he's on a public sidewalk?!? 🙄
First, I admire and appreciate Jeff's work to educate and test issues surrounding 1A. I want that known. Regarding this video, it is easy to look at it and summarize the church as being uncaring and unwilling to interact and help homeless and to see the homeless and street people as victims who are ostracized by the church. It is often a very unfair characterization of both sides. Here at my own church, it is surrounded by homeless and street people. We are in the heart of people in distress, and we have ministries devoted to trying to help people in need, drug and alcohol addicted, hungry, etc. Experience also teaches that homeless and mental illnesses often go together. Does one lead to the other? Sometimes, but there is often a connection between the two. Regardless, these folk are invited into our church, but like anyone else, homeless or not, they are not allowed to interrupt, disrupt, or prevent services and classes. We've worked with many homeless in the past, and some participate. Others interrupt and disrupt, and that sometimes leads to their being criminally trespassed from the property. It is a last resort for us, we don't like trespassing anyone, but we also must be allowed to hold services and classes. In the case of FBC Jacksonville, we don't know the backstory to what is described as the sterile environment. Maybe the homeless were never on the unoccupied property. Maybe they respect the church and voluntarily gather where we saw them in the video. While the officer tried to move Jeff along in this video, and after his refusal to go, there was no further action. No demands for ID. No threats of arrest. They asked him to move, he refused, and they left him alone presumably because he was on a public sidewalk. Anyway, all of that to encourage readers not to be too quick to judge FBC Jacksonville or other organizations when watching similar videos. This video presents a very narrow slice of an issue, and there is often much more to the story which is untold. Regarding this particular video, 1A was tested, and I give it a huge passing grade. But in the theme of my argument above, maybe there is more to the story . . .

You do understand don't you that Matthew 25:31-46 is Jesus judging the nations that are gathered upon his return for how they treated the Jews during the 70th week of years- 7 year tribulation or wrath of God poured out on the wicked on earth? He is not judging the body of Christ there, the body of Christ is reigning on earth with him, after returning with him. The church is at that time a glorious bride and consort.

Looks like officer Holland reached a crossroads when he couldn't enforce his own morality as law since he agreed with the message. I wonder if he would do the same if the sign was different and maybe challenged his personal feelings/beliefs.
That would demonstrate whether the no-homeless-allowed policy is a viewpoint neutral pseudo restriction subject to strict scrutiny. 😆

You could lose the things you earned. No one is exempt from being homeless. You could just as easily end up living in a car, as anyone else. Act like you're above strife, and struggle.. that attitude is the stuff of arrogance. Pearls before swine.

A tax exempt business at that

The church I went to when I was younger used to feed the homeless around the holidays. God bless the homeless!
Everyone calm down, the church does send "thoughts and prayers" across the street to the homeless, and everyone knows how great that works!
It really saddens me to see fellow Americans in such dire straits.

Brainwashed hypocrite
Jesus is not homeless, never was and never will be.
Tell a lie make it big keep telling it in sooner or later they will believe it this is the basis of all religions.
"Unenforced tyranny" simply is not tyranny. Tyranny, by definition, involves force. If nothing is forced, then it's not tyranny. It might still be problematic for OTHER reasons, but it's not tyranny if no one enforces it.

2. the 1st amendment is still in existence.

its obvious these people do a briefing and their commander tells them to say such things, to attempt power over people. most people would subconsciously obey security/ law enforcement in such instances.
the "I was just doing my job" excuse wont work if/when all hell breaks loose. history has shown us that, repeatedly.

Jeff, I appreciate what you are doing, especially the way you do it with courtesy to all.
"I'm gonna need to get you to move on"
Who the fuck does this security guard think he is telling a member of the public to "move along" when he's on a public sidewalk?!?
But in the theme of my argument above, maybe there is more to the story . . .
I wish all the homeless would move into Beverly Hills sidewalks and streets.
They are already there.
They're there big time. Just like Hollywood Blvd and around the Walk of Fame. It's a shithole around there. People don't give a fuck. They get treated as sub-human. And all these religitards are complete hypocrites. Fuck religion as well. All religion.
