The man cooking skit was done on I Love Lucy. They did a great job with it…and the comedy of Fred Mertz and Ricky Ricardo had some hysterical one liners plus the physical comedy of the rice and chicken disaster. 😂🤣
At 18:00 Rob is imitating Sheldon Leonard’s psychological analyses of comedy situations in the shows he produced like Dick van Dyke and Andy Griffith. He would hold meetings with the cast to discuss the believability and appropriateness of the situations for the characters and what would motivate their behavior and reactions. These were very well thought out in advance. You will notice that Andy Griffith and Dick van Dyke shows actually dealt with real social problems but in a comedic way. That’s why the audience could relate to them more than other shows that were more fantasy oriented and still popular today.
I do the same. And this is one of them. I was listening to this one at work, laughed out loud when Rob said you can call me Lorraine, almost got busted.
By film date order, this is actually the last episode for season 3. Their living room couch makes it obvious. They also did the same thing with the last episode of season 2 and 4. "All Eavesdropping" was pushed into season 3 and "A Farewell to Writing" was also pushed into season 5. I think the reason this happened was because they wanted to even the number of episodes each season. I know it doesn't really matter, but I personally prefer the film date order over the air date order.
Lucy and Doris were friends in real life as well. There is another DVD show in which Doris REALLY shines as the bullying wife of an English husband whose daughter beats up Richie. NO ONE could disguise a put down and talk catty like she could.
Amsterdam (and/or the writers) missed the joke starting at approx. 09:50 ! Should have said "...this guy has a *hair* trigger brain, but I think the gun jammed" (due to his constant hair/bald jokes). 🤣
You know I didn’t think about it, but I think Morey Amsterdam could’ve been a good Penguin in the 60s Batman series if Burgess Meredith wasn’t interested
This series was shot in front of a live studio audience using three 35 millimeter film cameras. Why didn't Desilu use that method for their other sitcoms?
In her day, Mary Tyler More was(In MY opinion), An ABSOLUTELY STUNNING GORGEOUS LADY!
Morey Amsterdam would have made a good Penguin in the Batman tv show. Looks good in a monocle . . .
How did I miss that?! Been watching that little joke machine for the better part of 60 years, and I missed that?! He'd have made a perfect Penguin!
I never noticed but you are absolutely right.
Agreed...
True! a perfect penguin.
You are so right!!!

Funny. Your Long exposition, is similar to what "Rob" is doing in the scene. Lol.....who asked for All that?
iNTERESTING...THANKS!
Wow! Sally is gorgeous in the dressed up outfit 😁
Look up photos of Sally when she first got married. Beautiful lady!
I love all of the dick Van Dyke episodes I skip and watch ⌚️ my favorite s then go back and watch them all great 👍 tv 📺 show great cast 👏

Sally is so beautiful! Loved the dress 😍
Really?
I think she would have looked better with darker hair, without the bow.
She looks awesome
@@saran3214The bow was a tribute to Rose Marie's real life husband who died while they were doing the show. He really liked her wearing bows
you want to look like her? i doubt it.

Doris Singleton's first of 2 appearances on the show. I will always remember her best as Carolyn Appleby, Lucy's frenemy, on "I Love Lucy"
Yes!
She was a Good Looking Lady
she had a great voice.
I ❤ Dick Van Dyke.
I love women from this era.
Who else thinks Buddy 's torn underwear comment eas unscripted 😂?
22:36 - "Mel" got a real good roast / zinger in on "Buddy". Subtle and quick ...hit em all a little, but mostly Buddy💯
Doris Singleton was a regular cast member as one of Lucy Ricardo's friends in the "I Love Lucy" show.

@@poetcomic1 Thank you for that information. I didn't know that. I would like to watch that episode sometime.
and also on The Lucy show, Lucy meets Art Linkletter..
Yes: Doris played Carolyn Appleby (the name was taken from one of Lucy's real-life school teachers)
@@scotnick59 That's interesting. Thank you for that information. 🙂
Robs prediction was correct

DVK can be so good it's embarrassing to watch him being so embarrassing.
Another D.V.D. show with Doris Singleton. She was Lucy's best friend 'Carolyn Appleby' on I Love Lucy.
Best frenemy…they were always competing with each other for popularity and status.
2:20 did Buddy say "sex pot"?
Yes as a joke.
@@southernoregoncatmom6519 I'm surprised it passed the censors of that time.
Decorator ain’t wrong
We’re all a little messed up
Buddy was being a huge jerk. I blame him for Ms Loraine leaving lol
You'd be shocked, at how many real Hollywood people, that M. Amsterdam was impersonating. The Ego / Attitude....
@@anotheryoutubeaccount9852Yeah I know ha! He seems like a pretty nice guy in his interviews. He was a pretty funny actor
CLOSE THE DOOR!!!
5:02 was a blooper handled well.
It's not logged as a blooper- I personally don't view it as one either. Just very good comedic timing
What was the blooper?
@@dennisandry1632Mary said “pratfalls” instead of pitfalls.
My favorite part of this episode? Rob chasing Laura around with the rolled up magazine, smacking that cute little 🍑of hers 24:07
Buddy is not funny.
Buddy is not funny. He doesn't make me laugh like the other ones.
That's too bad. Morey Amsterdam was legendary.

i agree. he sucks.
