Engelbert Dollfuss (4 October 1892 - 25 July 1934) was an Austrian politician who served as Chancellor of Austria between 1932 and 1934. Having served as Minister for Forests and Agriculture, he ascended to Federal Chancellor in 1932 in the midst of a crisis for the conservative government. In early 1933, he shut down parliament and assumed dictatorial powers. Suppressing the Socialist movement in February 1934 during the Austrian Civil War and later banning the Austrian Nazi party, he cemented the rule of "Austrofascism" through the authoritarian First of May Constitution. Dollfuss was assassinated as part of a failed coup attempt by Nazi agents in 1934. His successor Kurt Schuschnigg maintained the regime until Adolf Hitler's annexation of Austria in 1938.

@Krisbugajew11-11 "Blut und Boden" isn't a nazi slogan, is a phrase of the conservative-revolutionary philosophical movement, and much of them, like Moeler van der Bruck, Jünger ecc... Weren't even nazi, Hitler just used it after.

I would say Dolfuss, even tho he is a fascist is my hero. I am a libertarian and I would say Dolfuss was too. He was even informed by Ludwig Von Mises. I appreciate his fight against national socialism, trade unionists and marxism.

He wasn't a fascist and he definitely wasn't a libertarian. He was a traditionalist, authoritarian, and a conservative who know exactly how to defend Catholicism and Austria. He was a great man indeed.

@@Classical.Conservative lol no thats not correct at all. He was close friends with Benito Mussolini and all political scientists agree their ideology and aesthetic is clerical fascism. There is many variants of fascism with this being a conservative, traditionalist, counter-enlightenment fascist movement. You dont realize How big of a family the fascist tree is
