How can she not fall in love with this man? He is so sweet. They're both too adorable. He's realizing just how right she is for him. They have the same interest/they live by the same code. He was truly fortunate that Yuanniang schemed to make her sister his legal wife. If he was stuck with Lianfang...his life would be a living hell. General Fu knows how much Lingyi loves his wife/he knows that she would never hurt him. She took out the time to seek General Fu out in order to understand Lingyi's nightmares. She has opened her heart to him. I love her response when she finds out how he used to be. She can't imagine him being so carefree.
She waited for him. Shiyi loves her husband. I'm glad she's finally starting to open up towards him. He's waited a long time for her to accept his feelings for her. He's one step closer to his goal.

Shiyi's eyes started getting bigger, the closer Lingyi came to her bed. He noticed the death grip she had on those covers which is why I believe, he tucked her hands underneath the covers. He needed her to start trusting him and to relax around him, which he accomplished by teasing Shiyi and slowly invading her space.
I just thought that when Lingyi said to Yuanyan about Shiyi, “How will she be my wife?”, the last thing he could suggest was that problems would arise where she actually arose. If you think about it, his relationship with Shiyi is the inversion of his relationship with his concubines and his first wife. When he married Shiyi, the last thing he could have imagined was that she would be such a wonderful mother to his son, his friend and comrade-in-arms. Fortunately for him, he can overcome Shiyi's fears, but if she was the way he thought at the beginning, he would have done nothing.
Indeed, moving in with her and constantly being in her personal space is a very good idea. This is a great way to accustom her to he, in addition, it allows them to get to know each other better. Understand what they think / dream about, what is hidden behind his restraint / coldness and her calm equanimity when communicating with the outside world. Neither he nor she really knows what the other had to pay for what they see now. He does not know the price of young Shiyi's pragmatism/wisdom in life, she is his seriousness/coldness.
