I remember waking up early on a school morning to start the Ambition of the illuminous update and freaking out the whole day waiting to get back to see the club open for the 1st time lmfao - Happy birthday sonic or some shit lmao - PSO is better than nothing, but it just isnt the same.
It really isn't the same. Especially with the NGS update, it doesn't feel like there's any love in the game design at all. The story, especially, is egregious... at least pso2 has a story that is interesting, ngs is just campy and barebones. PSU was just a much better game.
Man, the nostalgia in this opening is so immense. Back in those days on the demo I remember joining clans and having shout battles to turning it into a competition to get the best maxed out gear and have the highest amount of money. The most meseta I had at one point was like 10 million and that was nonstop grinding S rank sleeping warriors at raffon. Those were the good ole days. E-dating, trolling, hanging out with strangers, and built lifelong friendships because of it. The full game was even crazier.

I remember being so excited for the return of Phantasy Star. Loved the new themesong and ended up loving the game! I wish PS would return in an offline game.

Anyone else remember the online demo? Lol I would repeat the like 2 only missions available to afford just some of the most basic merch that the demo would allow you to purchase in game, only to finally buy the full game after nearly a year and realizing just how easy it was to get the in game money by just playing through the story line. Best decision ever to finally buy the full game back then. Story mode was beautiful. Mostly just played originally to chat with others in that main area in the space station. So many scammers on the game would spam your inbox offering you all types of things for exchange of in game currency. Good ol days.
Is there another game where you can just sit on a bench or the ground, talking trash, as people mill about, trading and selling and dancing for no reason? And then get up, join a party and go on an epic fighting adventure in space? So underrated, I miss all of you.
My after school life was this game, I just love Phantasy star so much, all the games will always be rank 1 in my faves, I can never compare any game to them, they are just great games with great communities
I know this is weird but this game along with Xenosaga helped me appreciate Xenoblade Chronicles. I really enjoyed the series when I played it and wished I could have explored the online world more when I was younger.
My older brother owned this game on the PS2, and i would play it all the damn time. He never paid for a GUARDIANS License subscription to play the online though, but i loved the gameplay. Especially the fact that you still got a slight taste of what could come from online in the form of Extra Mode since that let you create a custom character instead of following the story. Then around the time the pandemic started i had gotten a laptop and discovered a fanserver called Clementine that let me experience the feels of my favorite PS2 game with other players. I do use an Xbox controller when i play, so i did fiddle around with the UI files purely just replacing the default PC controls with the 360 controller buttons. Anyways, this game holds a special place in my heart and made me wish to play every game tied to Universe's story. Universe, the AOTI expansion, the Phantasy Star Portable games...
I originally played the PS2 version online, and the story mode, today I enjoy each version including playing Online again on the rebuilt private server known as Clementine.
I remember playing this game 2010-2011 on xbox 360 - I was 6 years old when I started playing and made a group of friends on there called Cloud and Joe - they were both a bit older than me and Cloud thought my voice was annoying so he always had me muted XD, but Joe didn't mind my squeaker voice. I remember Joe gifting me a rappy suit I think they were called when I hit lvl 70. Haven't spoken to Cloud in probably 10 years now and Joe I last spoke to about 3 years ago. What an amazing game I would love to replay it.
I loved how this game's episodes all opened like this. It was like playing an anime. Though I much prefer the Ambition of the Illuminus version of the song, I like that they introduce you to the characters and show scenes from the game so you can see some of what you're in for. I miss playing this online, but thankfully it can be played offline... and I got Dark Falz 2's achievement before the servers went down. :D

I still have it, I've gotten enough money and bought a badass fir e sword called Crimson, it does massive dmage even to fire creatures, and I got the 2 headed Ragnus, can't remember if it has an element but their both S class weapons!
