Bookmakers knew it before the season started. They need the media to drove away bets from picking the Celtics, and they hit the jackpot big on the finals series where 80 percent of money were for Dallas to win.
Perhaps the best compliment that can be given to the Celtics is that they were not being compared to the league, they were being compared to perfection. Some said they were a poor clutch team, and they lost 12 games which included 'clutch time'. Without those loses, the record would have been 76-6. They lost 6 non-clutch regular season games and 3 in the playoffs. With the loses to the Heat and Cavs, so many thought those were the beginning of the end. Both were followed by three straight wins to end the respective series. The loss to the Mavericks was completely taking their foot off the gas, leading to winning the championship at the Garden.
Do people even realize what ESPN did? They knew Boston was going to dominate the playoffs, so they took a cue from Fox News and had their "expert analysts" come on TV to sow doubt in Boston, call them untested and their competition weak, and hype up the Mavs, calling Luka & Kyrie the greatest backcourt ever. And they succeeded to the point that 89% of all bets placed on ESPNbet prior to the Finals were for the Mavs, despite the fact that Boston was heavily favored by Vegas. So ESPN made a fortune trolling America. They convinced people that Boston sucked and that Dallas was unstoppable. And most of that 89% were the "I do my own research " crowd 😂.
They’re one of the top 10 teams in NBA history. Let’s just appreciate that fact and root for them to make a run of and win multiple titles because they have some of the best guys in the league who should be well liked and respected be everybody… And I’m a Van Exel era Lake Show guy 😂
This celtics team is a fortress of a defencive team, which is built like a machine to operate with all parts operating together. Yes, idividually their players might not be amongs the greats, but as a team, theyre almost un beatable due to their defence. For some reason people disregard their ability to STOP anyone in front of them. The only two teams i could see celtics struggle are Shaq & cobe lakers; and Jokic noggets just because of the overwhelming size that celtics atruggle to stop. Any other team they would lock down and stop getting to 100 points whilst beating with ghreea on the other end. Which is exactly what weve seen all year this past season.
The NBA is also a war of attrition staying healthy and being available at the end is part of winning taking care of your body. Injuries happen but there's something to be said for staying healthy.
Interesting to see how the Celtics perform next year with the oppsessive pressure from the Boston Media and fanbase gone. Boston fans are tough and the Celtics legacy is a heavy weight now lifted off their shoulders. A whole city now looks at them differently as Champions, forever.
So sick of the no Butler, no Mitchell, no Haliburton talk, guess what? No Porzingas! Healthy Porzingas even if the other teams had those guys we still would of won probably more dominant so
This team was amazing and beat everyone, not their fault who they played and who was hurt. I will also say for all those who said we had an easy path, all 3 teams Celtics played put up more of a fight than Dallas did who all said would beat the Celtics. They were blown out all 4 games did come back enough to make the score close but never was it down to the wire like it was with the 3 teams before them…….
It would be fascinating to see this year's Celtics play against a 1980's Celtics or Lakers team. Those teams in the 80's hadn't unlocked the full potential of the 3-pointer yet. So, I wonder how they would fare. The 80's teams had dominant low post games - but buckets from the low post only count for 2 points while the 2024 Celtics would be raining down three pointers. Is the modern game, taking advantage of the three point line, inherently better than the game from the 80's? It would be a blast to watch!
As a Boston fan, who’ve been critical, I was always skeptical. But only cause of Denver and Milwaukee. Not a single other team was going to win more than a game in a series, healthy or not. They are as good as it says on paper. Have been all year.
Really amazing accomplishment. I don’t want to take anything away from them and like Greeny said they didn’t have any say in their schedule but let’s face it, the league was fairly weak this year with many injuries. C’s pulled this off with Tingus Pingus missing large stretches. There is no way they are that that good, especially considering their shallow bench. None of us will mention them among the best ever
They acting surprised because they slept on that narrative of "They're not good enough," "not battle-tested," "JT is unhappy about not winning EC MVP/ F MVP", "C's run was TOO easy," etc. etc. etc.
One stat they missed: “Al Horford is the only Celtic player, in history, to have personally been gifted one of our band’s CDs.” -Oserō💚 P.S. We love you Big Al
It depends on the era these teams play. I don’t think the older teams have the 3 point shooting to match this C’s team in todays era of basketball It would be a closer series than many think depending on what rules these teams would be playing under
people that hate boston are just coping right now, but in 5-10 years none of their cope will matter and they'll be historically viewed the way they should be
This team would absolutely smoke any team from the 80s, if you were able to just magically transport them to the same time and place, but it's not really a fair comparison. Basketball has changed a lot. The amount of skill and shooting is something those teams would have never seen before. They'd be down 30 before they even realized how much of a problem the 3 ball creates for defenses in a moderb 5 out offense.
they also had more 30 point leads than 10 point deficits this year, which is just insane to think about
One of the best teams of all time? I think so

They lost 6 non-clutch regular season games and 3 in the playoffs. With the loses to the Heat and Cavs, so many thought those were the beginning of the end. Both were followed by three straight wins to end the respective series. The loss to the Mavericks was completely taking their foot off the gas, leading to winning the championship at the Garden.
smashed da lot LFG Celtics ☘️
And most of that 89% were the "I do my own research " crowd 😂.
in sports you have one job . Dominate your competition as a team
job done
Not to mention that they didn’t lose 2 games in a row all season. And also won me a boat load of $ this year.
They’re one of the top 10 teams in NBA history. Let’s just appreciate that fact and root for them to make a run of and win multiple titles because they have some of the best guys in the league who should be well liked and respected be everybody…
And I’m a Van Exel era Lake Show guy 😂
What an epic!
You need to respect Mazzulla now. His offensive system and ability to coach this teams emotions is one of the main reasons they are here
Very nice video, thank you so much 👍
Great stats
With the stats in front of him showing how dominant the Celticsis, Greeny still find a way to slender the Boston Celtics.
All them crazy stats but doubted all year.
I love the Celtics 😭☘️
Interesting to see how the Celtics perform next year with the oppsessive pressure from the Boston Media and fanbase gone.
Boston fans are tough and the Celtics legacy is a heavy weight now lifted off their shoulders.
A whole city now looks at them differently as Champions, forever.
The 2017 Warriors is #1 for as Greatest teams with the 96 Bulls close second. But yes i do put this Celtics team in my top 7 All-time.
Creativity knows no bounds here. Keep pushing the envelope!
So sick of the no Butler, no Mitchell, no Haliburton talk, guess what? No Porzingas! Healthy Porzingas even if the other teams had those guys we still would of won probably more dominant so
The league is stronger than it use to be because the pool of talent is the whole world
Good stats!
My God, I had no idea they were that good. Wow.
Have been all year.
most of the playoffs they were without Porzingis, their 3rd 20-pt scorer and the most efficient one at that.
Tom Brady is EASILY the BEST QB of all time.
This might be low key one of the best teams ever.
BEST TEAM
Celtics is a machine, they play with ease and grace without major injuries just different level.
Injuries are part of the game! Being available is a sign of strength, but wether or not everyone is healthy they will beat then all.
I’m a Celtics fan , they were 0-2 vs Denver… next year they better out , we coming for back to back
Lifelong Green fan is gobsmacked by #1. This team wasn't a Grizzly bear. This team was a Giant Polar Bear. Holy sh-wow!
In Brad and Joe we trust!☘🏆
7:56 facts, people are saying it was a mickey mouse run because the teams were hurt, as if we wouldnt have beat them anyway.
They acting surprised because they slept on that narrative of "They're not good enough," "not battle-tested," "JT is unhappy about not winning EC MVP/ F MVP", "C's run was TOO easy," etc. etc. etc.
Can't remember how many media predicted Mavs would win instead. Cut their pay.
One stat they missed:
“Al Horford is the only Celtic player, in history, to have personally been gifted one of our band’s CDs.”
-Oserō💚
P.S. We love you Big Al
Question what were the 3 teams that lost by 50??
Nets, Pacers and Warriors
On X-Mas Day, the Lakers were down 50+ at home against the Celts before Mazzula decided to sit the starters for the entire 4th quarter.
It depends on the era these teams play.
I don’t think the older teams have the 3 point shooting to match this C’s team in todays era of basketball
It would be a closer series than many think depending on what rules these teams would be playing under
They did most of that run WITHOUT PORZINGAS!
The Pacers should feel very good about how they played. It was the hardest sweep ever.
Nick Wright needs to see this segment
I’m not used to people not hater on us ☘️
The Celtics is a good team, but if they win the chip next year we'll see greatness.
people that hate boston are just coping right now, but in 5-10 years none of their cope will matter and they'll be historically viewed the way they should be
This team would absolutely smoke any team from the 80s, if you were able to just magically transport them to the same time and place, but it's not really a fair comparison. Basketball has changed a lot. The amount of skill and shooting is something those teams would have never seen before. They'd be down 30 before they even realized how much of a problem the 3 ball creates for defenses in a moderb 5 out offense.
a healthy bucks vs healthy celtics would've been a coin toss honestly. we'll find out next season.
