After playing around with Node-Red I can see how one can get hooked on it. Great Job!! I guess my only other question would be Is it possible to edit one of the Nodes. Example the meter node on the dashboard. Is there a way to edit this node then resave it with the Graphic changes.?
How scalable is NODE-RED? What if I want to automate small village with 100+ users should be able to write its own little scripts + a few admins control critical tasks on a whole system?
The Node-RED admin module is only available for the groovBox as part of its complete embedded solution. Industrial grade specific hardware, operating system, administration, application software, Node-RED, protocol drivers, OPC servers and HTML5 Operator Interface in a single device, all from a single source supplier, Opto22. If you prefer to "roll your own" Node-RED solution on another hardware platform, then things like installation, device administration, operating system and future support would then be your problem.
While Node-RED Admin is a feature of our product, the key takeaways are encryption and authentication. Both of these can be turned on in Node-RED by anyone. Just check out the details on the node-red website; nodered.org/docs/security
That user logo button is a security feature of groov that cannot be disabled. A typical Node-RED installation on something like a Raspberry Pi or PC won't have authentication by default, so this button won't be there. Thanks for watching!
The groov AR1 is listed in the products section of our website www.opto22.com/, if you want more information feel free to reach out to pre-sales@opto22.com or give us a call. There are no extra pieces of hardware for the AR1 and no starter kit; everything is contained in the groov-AR1-base so it can absolutely used as a standalone device just on its own.
'Sketch' usually refers to an Arduino program, in Node-RED, they are called Flows. So long as we are talking about making a flow in Windows 10 and then loading it onto a Linux Pi, then yes, not a problem. You just need to make sure that if you have installed and used any special nodes on Windows, you need to do the same on the Pi. Once you make sure the same Nodes are on both platforms, just highlight all the nodes in your flow and export them. Copy or email them to yourself and then paste or check your email on your Pi, paste the flow into the Node-RED on the Pi and you will be up and running.

See if their code is available. If so, you can download it, make the changes, then make a new node to import into your flow.

so Node-RED Admin is a your proprietary product or it's opensource and available for everyone to install on their node-red setups? thanks

How much is a GroovAR1? Can the device be used in a standalone environment? What other hardware goes with this? Is there a starter kit?

$1,295.00!!! Ouch!
question can I build the sketch on a windows 10 then load it to a Linux on the PI?
