Forget how good he is at drawing and focus on how he good he is at public speaking and answering the questions quickly and adequately. (Still he is an amazing artist).
Thats true! It actually takes a great level of proficiency to be able to draw and speak like that in the same time. It shows how much experience and confidence one has.
@J. Smith even if you're working smarter you need to work hard at the same time .. your comment is like saying you can be a great football player by just working smarter lol
@@feinfein4444 it depends on what football you mean but look at Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers even guys like Marshall Faulk and Richard Sherman. If you mean euro football then that's just a ridiculous and stupid statement. Look at Zinedine Zidane, Luis Suarez, Beckham, Rooney, Ronaldinho etc the list just keeps going. So I dont know what your getting at?
And I'd like to add that this format was practically perfect. The drawing was well displayed and we got also to see enough the face of Peter Han while he was talking. And the audio was good enough. If you had even better audio recording equipment to have less background noise, it would be perfect.
Peter Han and Kim Jung Gi broke the barrier of how talent doesn't correlate with impossibility, and intense passion and hardwork can anchor anyone towards their dreams.
I've watched both of these demo parts twice now. And its just amazing how he is honest and fair about what you should be expecting and aiming to do. Art is a lot of work, after all. But he also mentions pacing yourself. Giving yourself breaks, and giving yourself time to reflect on your art. And that aspect is something I feel more artists should strive for and encourage.
I really enjoy how he discusses the mindset and mental strength it takes to become better at drawing. It’s a great reminder to me on how important that aspect is.
I am a starting artist, and i greatly enjoyed watching this and all of your vids. They are inspirational and info packed. Sometimes i even try to draw along with them, even if my art isnt that good. Just wanted to say thank you for the consistent uploads and wonderful content.
He can articulate the intricate workings of an experienced artist very well and how they get to a finished product. This is why he's a great teacher. Concise points and no wandering around the topic trying to find the best way to describe what he's experiencing. I feel like this can only be done when you have an immense level of understanding of the subject. If you look at Scott Robertson's books, you'll find the same thing.
This is even better than the previous one. You watch a guy doing and commenting his drawing and bam! He just told you how an artist's life looks like, from the inside. And how to maintain energy and fun of doing it for the rest of my life. That's one of the best lessons I have received in drawing ever. Thank you very much!
This guy is simply amazing. This speech is universal for any area of the life.😄😅😆 I could completely not watching, and just listening. 💪 And a great drawing of course ! ♥️
Wow! Allen Williams was just a couple steps away! Talk to him! I would love to see him among these great artist you gathered around you Proko! Congrats this year 12 days of Proko was really good! Thanks a lot!
@@seanramsey It seemed to be a very interesting event for those who wants to work with art! More than the Comic Con! Hope someday I can be present in one of those! I've spotted the Allen Williams cabin for accident in the last couple of seconds of this video!
WOW! These two videos on Peter Han have helped me an insane amount! It’s so much more helpful to see the techniques being executed and explain at the same time. Thanks for making this available Proko!
This was very inspirational . myself being very very critical of my work. This was very good to hear . to push myself further and be more focused on the learning experience, rather than the end result. Thank you - p.s cant wait for Draftsmen: Season 2
Great content as always Proko. Ive been watching your channel over a year now and it inspired me to start my art channel as well. I lost my will to draw 10 years ago because I didn't think I was good enough and im grateful to watch artist like you and it it inspires me to commit on inproving my craft. Love and support from the Philippines❤
More demos!!!!!! From all the proko favorites!!! I love seeing all the different styles and techniques, it's so motivating and informative! These are always my favorite videos
2:40 I mean this in a respectful way. It's not impossible per say, it's a matter of "understanding" "practice" "Determination" "Faith" , and "Focus". There are people who've made dramatic improvements in simply a single year. While having outstanding knowledge of anatomy and can draw by instinct. It's a lot harder than one would think, but not inherently impossible. Edit: To which all of what was said is a carried by "COMMITMENT" sooo yeah.
Yess!! You should absolutely keep doing more demos like these! More videos like these in general! They are incredibly informative, inspirational and motivating. You need more Kim Jung Gi demos, I’m sure he’s a tough man to get a hold of, but that man’s a master!
"It's got to be to the level where you're literally waking up every day, sleeping, thinking about this. Because I am." Dangerous advice if applied incorrectly. Han did clarify thereafter about work-life balance and avoiding burnout, which is good however.
this is weird how people in arts (for industry) forget this balance often, like you have to study and study and then what? You are a good technical artist with a broke health, broke social relations and broke culture.
@@jefflhama A clearer distinction needs to be made between passion and obsession, for sure. I understand he was talking off the cuff here and it wasn't scripted, but he needs to be wary of what advice he's giving.
04:51 I tried to take a break without drawing for a week bc my back .. all of my body actually hurts from drawing every day .but damn!! .. not drawing is hundreds times harder than drawing 24/7 it's funny that I couldn't make it .. I went back to drawing the next day
Great video! PLEASE get Iain McCaig to draw with you! He is a fantastic teacher and artist. Next, it would be epic to see John Howe since he is a wonderful teacher as well, and the new Amazon prime series for Middle-Earth will want to promote him!
OMG his on par with Kim Jung Gi level. Drawing from imagination from any perspective without construction lines! that's a dream of any artist! One thing I think on the next level would be drawing from imagination from any perspective without construction lines but in colored! that would be the Ultimate level I think :) My level is still primitive, I have to use a lot of references on each of the things I want to show in a composition. I find that extremely time consuming.....That's my down side...haven't drawn a lot so everything needs a reference. But with reference, I could draw anything. The faster a drawing comes together the more joy there is. That's what I have learnt. So if anyone could draw without reference and from imagination, each drawing is very fast and you can see the end result quickly gives you a boost of motivation! As for me, the beginning prep work takes up so much time and it becomes frustrating to have to spend 6-10 hours on any drawing I want to create. This hump is the barrier between pros and amateurs I feel.
Little late but you can and should sometimes restrict your drawings to a time limit. Like 30 seconds to 30 minutes, anything in between. Maybe vary it a bit. Pick a character or object and draw it in 30 minutes. Then 15. 5. 2. 30 seconds. You'll get much faster at drawing and retaining information this way.
Who should I invite to demo at the Proko booth at next year’s Lightbox Expo?
Jeff Watts!
Eleeza and Gary villarreal both
More demo please.
Hopefully we get to see Eliza Ivanova, JAW Cooper, Loish and other female artists.
Craig Mullins of course
Karl Kopinski

I love how he keeps it real. Have to commit.. no sugar coating what it takes.
