Tyler wrote this song for his brother. And joshes favorite movie happens to be fight club (the whole “disappearance” part is a reference to fight club) . So they kinda tied that all together in this beautiful music video.
I think the older brother represents his trauma. His mother dies when he is young, causing a lot of pain that gets bottled up. He is naturally timid/insecure/depressed but his defense mechanisms help him when he is young, helps him get by, sleep at night and whatnot. As he gets older it makes him act out, it gets him into trouble. But it stays with him for better or worse, the lasting pain of early trauma. Anyway thats the way I saw it.

This is the hole story his mom had cancer and he loved her so the little boy pretended to have a bad boy brother but he was imaginary he did all the stuff that the bad boy brother did he was an only child but he really wanted a brother he hated being alone with nobody
