- This week we have the camper and patrol all patched up and enjoying our style of travelling. Remote, offgrid and away from the crowds.
But at the end of last week I pinched my back again and in a bit of pain. But nothing like what it was like at steep Point, so a couple of days taking it easy for me.
Really refreshing to have honest product recommendations that aren’t a paid placement or endorsement, it’s getting real difficult on YT to work out what is someone’s honest assessment and what has been a freebie for them. Keep enjoying that trip!
Thanks Bug M. Sorry for the late reply, been really remote again. Yes I know exactly what you mean and we have been turning away so many companies that what to take over our channel. We just like showing people what we get up to and the gear we trust, pretty much all of it we payed for too.
Love your videos. It’s Great to see you get your kids involved in the daily chores of setting up and packing up camp it makes everyone’s job that little bit easier
Thanks Jeff, the kids have been super helpful. Sometimes they are so tied but they always try their best. They have grown up so much on this trip
Hey team, you really showed how beautiful it is in that area.We love it only an hour or so from home.
Thanks for the episode....
How lucky are you, bet your in litchfield every chance you get. It was really a beautiful park, and so much variety. We'll be back for sure
I'm always impressed by the confidence the kids display in the water, it's a great character building exercise. Amazing places you've seen there; the lost city and the termite mounds are unreal. Thanks for your efforts in sharing your travels, always look forward to the next episode. Take care, stay safe, Cheers.
Thanks Kev for the support every week. The kids love the water up here, and they are so croc wise, they just know where to stay away from. The lost city was great but have a tip where there is a better one to the east, can't wait
👍 another great show.
Thanks Scoot for the support every week. Really appreciate it
Well done "Going Overland", Yep I really enjoy your channel. The way you live off grid, the remote places you show us and the easy going (so it appears) way you all are travelling our magnificent country. Cheers 😊👍🥫
Thanks Peter, and you don't need all the expensive stuff too. Just the right gear and simple is always better.
Litchfield done and dusted in the awesome way we have grown to love from you guys. See you next time, stay safe till then..
Thanks Wayne, always appreciate your support.
Nice work. Hayley an emerging talent!
Thanks Simon, she is loving it
Good job Hayley with your videoing. Glad Adams back is on the improve. Look forward to watching your next video. Take care
Thanks Kerry, she is doing so well. She is really enjoying the challenge
Wow Epic pics ofeverything as a stonemason of 30 plus years i am blown away by the lost city. wow..
We have a hot tip of even better ones not to many people know about to the east, can't wait to check them out too
Love your videos. Litchfield is in our top 5 of the places we have explored. Hayley is doing a great job. We love traveling on a budget. We think the cascades were a surprising underrated part of the park. God the bull dust at the lost city has gotten worse! Your videos highlight why our country is the best to explore due to its diversity. Thanks 😊
Thanks Cover. Hayley is such a fast learner and she is really enjoying the extra challenge. Yeah we really enjoyed the cascades, and with not as many people even better.
Glad you got into Reynolds etc before it closed 👍
Thanks Drew, closed from the rains?
Great video guys well done Hayley 👏. I can't believe even in Aus that you have campsite thieves who think it's OK to move other people's stuff to take a campsite makes me 😠 😡.
I know, it was something I would never would have imagined someone doing. The poor couple in the rooftop tent had to then camp on the road because the group that took the spot wouldn't move either. And I bet they didn't even pay the camp fees. Disgraceful
I’ve been smashing through your episodes, loving them
Great informative down to earth stuff, thanks for sharing your trip
Loved your comment about the weekend warriors 😂😂
We suffer camp set up envy most places we go with our Kimberly Kamper, they’re not that common over here
It’s always packed ready to go, just add perishables 👍
Cheers team 👍👍
They are a great camper, built really well. That's what we usually do, have everything ready to go within a hour
cool drone footage and music in this one ! the rig looks really good
Cheers Brent. It's so hard flying smooth with the drone when sitting in the patrol on a bumpy road and half the time I can't even see the screen
Great filming by Hayley, if you didn't say anything, I wouldn't have known Larissa had retired as head videographer.
As for the 'no trailers' sign, I probably would've ignored it too. They'd never know, so long as you didn't get stuck.
Keep up the great work guys, and continue enjoying your adventure
Thanks Peter, it's fun because we camped within the no trailer signs and the ranger didn't say anything.
Hahaha, that's awesome. If it was busy, etc, he may have said something.
Great work and enjoyed also you got a great drone shot as well. 👍
Thanks mate, it can be tricky sitting in a bumpy 4wd trying to be smooth with the drone
Good one
Thanks for the support David
Another great episode guys love your channel
Thanks so much Azmin, really appreciate the support.
Great episode guys and we’ll done on the camera Hayley
Thanks Daniel, she is loving it.

Thanks NSW mods. We really did enjoy litchfield. A amazing place
thanks for another great family vid.
Thanks MHT for the support, we have been loving travel with the kids
Fantastic episode enjoy that beautiful country.brilliant camera and sound quality can’t wait for the next one.
Thanks Keith, I'm really enjoying putting these videos together. And all the positive comments from the viewers is fantastic motivation to keeping it up.
Thumb's up guys!. Adam..hope the back, mends soon, so you can get back amongst it all. Hayley is doing a great job filming..got that from the parents for sure. Larissa..what are you feeding Hayley and Joe? The kids are mastering, the art of jumping into the water, and rebounding back onto the rock! Would be a great skill to have around suss looking water..if an attack was imminent..lol!. Take it easy folks...looking forward to the next episode. Cheers!
Thanks mate, the kids are loving the water up here. Hayley wanted to jump from the very top of surprise Creek after seeing someone else do it. We had to spend 10 minutes talking her down to the lower level. She's brave
@@GoingOverland wow!.. little daredevil! Kids just don't have any fear at all sometimes..but they soon learn from mistakes. Part of growing up.
Awesome episode
Thanks Charlotte for the support. Always appreciate it
Great episode guys. Hayley doing a great job.
Litchfield is a magic place, but usually busy. How are you going with dust in the camper? It is what it is…? We get some in around the tail gate but have the dust suppression system.
We have 2 x 120 AH lithium in the camper and 1 x 66 AH Optima in the car. 75 litre fridge and freezer in the camper. 45 litre Bushman in the car. 900w of fixed solar and blankets.enjoy Kakadu and take care.
Sounds like you are set up nicely for extended trips off grid. We have problem with 1 small door letting dust in but we tend to track alot in when set-up anyway. So it wouldn't really matter if it was 100% dust proof anyway. We just learnt to live with it, blow it out every couple of days
@@GoingOverland yes we can stay out indefinitely if we wanted too. Just food and water to worry about, but we all have that issue.
Editing is getting good 👍
Thanks Shane, it's a lot of time some weeks I just can't keep up
great informative videos.
Thanks Malcolm, we are just trying to show a realistic lap of Australia
Your daughter is doing a great job on the camera .Great to see them getting involved.Question what did you both do for work before setting out on your trip
Thanks Greg, she's a fast learner. I was a maintenance carpenter for a builder and larissa is a teacher
Litchfield is certainly a beautiful region. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. 🙂 Is the tank/s that the water filter feeds into, used for your showering as well as drinking water, or do you have separate tanks? Also, how has your shower system worked for you on this trip? You did a video on how it was set up before you left but I'm interested if it has worked well for you as that is one of the last parts of my own setup that I need to build. And finally, Hayley is doing a great job. 🤩
Thanks Paul, Hayley is loving the responsibility of filming. We have 2 tanks in the trailer, rear is 85L for drinking, cooking and sometimes dishes, front is 60L for washing and showers. We were filtering and topping up both tanks. The water that comes out of the filter is crystal clear and tastes great.
The joolca hottap is fantastic. Really reliable, and safe. We used to carry around boiling water to add to shower water and sometimes it wasn't enough for hot showers for 4. Highly recommended.
@@GoingOverland Excellent info. Thank you so much. 🙂
Another great episode guy's a great part of Australia. Can I ask what program you use for your video editing. Hope the back improves quickly.
Thanks Gary, we use filmora, 1 off payment, easy enough to use, and best of all I don't need internet access when I'm editing, because we usually only have phone service once a week, and I think we had none once for 16 days.
How long does the life straw last. Or how many litres. Just curious. Enjoy all your videos
I think from memory 10 000 litres or something crazy like that. It's something most people don't think about, but because we are always in these remote areas we wanted a plan b.
Check Aussie Arvos, the young man's lighting. You could make trailer security with the $11.00 pir.
Thanks Rusty, I'll have to have a look
I know you may have made mention or maybe not but what did you budget per day/week/month for all actual costs.... I have a similar set up up and if my wife gets a redundancy this could be on the cards... also cheers for your efforts documenting this
Thanks mate, I did a few calculations before leaving, est kms, roughly what we spend a week on food, servicing cost, what camp fees are in NP. We are not counting the cost but judging by the bank account we are on track. The $1 per km trick is pretty close. We will do a full video when we stop and work everything out.
couldn't help notice you use the supapeg guy ropes, do you use their keyhead pegs?
Absolutely, the ground has been rock hard at times and they are the only peg that can drive through without bending. We are getting to the point we're some are so hammered flat that they are breaking and we cannot find new ones in the NT or top of WA
@@GoingOverland we use their short version of the pegs, when the ground is hard. at less than $1 ( from snowys - not associated) they are inexpensive.
Nice but just FYI, you might want to improve the sound quality, especially when you're driving.
Using a lavalier might be a bit of a pain (unless its a clip on wireless type) but maybe a directional mic (Rode micro's are good) linked to the camera might help?
We had a rode mic on the old gopro and it was fantastic, but on the new gopro it is so quiet, we couldn't use it because if we where more than a meter away you would not hear us. For now we are just sticking with the media mod for simplicity and the compact size. Thanks Gary we will probably shop around in the future for a upgrade
No trailers allowed on the Rene old track so irresponsible and ruin it for everyone else.
Hey if they had the sign at the start of the track, not 3/4 the way up we would definitely would not do it. But when we drive for a hour and a half from the hwy heading north then 15 minutes from camp there is a sign, that's a joke. Then add the fact there is nowhere to then turn a trailer around at the sign and we have a problem.
@@GoingOverland there is a sign at the start
