He is also the mastermind behind lightsticks that kpop groups have today. Bigbang is the first group to have a lightstick and gd designed the first version. They want something that would represent VIP when in a concert. After that many groups followed.
He is also a trendsetter. He started the trend of changing hair colors during comebacks. He also started TONS of fashion trends. He is known in the field of fashion for trying out and experimenting different outfit. This is just few of his impacts in the industry.

Just know this, if you're new to kpop or Asian entertainment scene in general. Just like you can't compare anybody with Psy and BTS, likewise you can't compare anybody with GD. At least in the Korean entertainment sphere, he's the one & only showman in the scene. Don't question him, just follow him, he may not be the greatest in the whole world like the other names I mentioned but sometimes you don't need to be the greatest of all time, sometimes you just need to be you and the great one of your time.. and that's what GD is. He's himself and one of the greats of his timeline.. just like another one in his time, Seo Taiji himself.
So, to all the newer fans, pay respect where it's due and don't throw shades.
