    Great review! This library sounds amazing! Yes, this video was very helpful! Thank you for creating it. Also, I split out the articulations as well. I like the separation and flexibility.

    Great to see you on board with VSL libraries. I'm only a hobbyist but have the chance to use VSL products. A bit (a lot if I'm being honest) overkill for my use and my musical abilities, but they sound great out of the box. And I just love the Synchron player, which I find easy to understand and easy to use, much more user friendly than Kontakt... and resizable :-)

    I loved your review, very honest and on point. The library can also have the epic Hollywood sound. Especially when using the larger ensembles with processed mixer preset. :)

    Tried to focus on the subject, catch my self staring at the beer on the table , stood up and went to the store) took a beer and came back. Thank you for Review, very informative. I was trying to stay a way from Synchron series, as it’s Too much knobs to tweak .Definitely Classical sound. I use a lot VSL Fan fare trumpets , Solo Bb Trumpet and Trombone separately. But still the best stuff I’ve done was with CineSamples. It always blended perfectly with life musicians, after full clean up, from phasing , timing, eq. This sound. !!! I think there is no perfect library, every lib have a niche and application. It’s all about how well we know them. Please do more off those reviews, and Thank you for your time.
    P.S. officially, professionally in love with what you do.

    Vielen Dank für die ausführliche Review Anne! :) I think whats worth noting though is, that after all, every brass library has its own strengths & weaknesses.. Theres no single library out there which handles every aspect of the brass orchestra perfectly, so i think the best approach might be to mix different brass libraries together, depending on the requirements at hand. Personally, i mostly use Cinematic Studio Brass for the upper registers (Trumpets/Horns/Bones) and complement the lower registers (Tubas/Cimbassi) with OTs Metropolis Ark or Cinebrass, as for some reason, the Cinematic Studio guys decided not to sample the Tubas/Cimbassi up to the lowest notes. And only solo tubas/cimbassi, sadly.

    Another great video! I love your honest note that this is not a beginner's library. I noticed you've also talk about the Epic Orchestra that comes with VEP7. Have you checked out their chamber strings library called Elite Strings? It claims to be good at agile fast passages, and I wondered how it would layer with CSS, CSSS and CS1

    Definitely on my to buy list for this year!
    I'm just sad they only recorded 2 single instruments for trumpets, horns etc and not like 4 singles for the horns, 3 trumpets and so on. It sounds perfect for fanfares and other brassy stuff!

    For people starting out with VSL or DAWs in general, Studio One currently has the best integration with all Synchron Player libraries, where you can either
    (1) use traditional musical notation (tremolo, sforzato, etc), and it maps to appropriate articulation in any given instrument (same as their expression maps for Dorico), or
    (2) Right-click on a selection of notes, and select any instrument-specific articulation that you would find in the Synchron Player itself, WITHOUT looking at keyswitches, nor manually importing them, nor writing keyswitches into the score. (This can be done in several ways, right click, drop down menu, etc - either way, it requires zero setup from the composer, and is done by Synchron Player + Studio One automatically.)

    While binge watching your amazing videos, I am impelled to comment on this one. With a classical, “Viennese” sound, it is surprising that Wagner tubas have not been included. Their sound is beyond heavenly beautiful. Can this source be adjusted somehow to approximate them? Have you used Wagner tubas in your writing? Are there other libraries which have them? And finally, I will just say ditto to all the other terrific comments you have received. You are an incredibly inspiring person. My sincere gratitude for all that you do.

    It’s a great sounding library but I do wish there was more slur on their legato instruments. Their legacy silent stage had some of the finest legatos. the shorts and Giant Tutti Brass is amazing though. I love the full sound.

    Perfectly! (Like any of Your reviews). So far I use only Elite Strings from VCL libraries. I also bought Orchestral Tools - Berlin Strings (Sine). I still haven't decided which strings I like best (for some reason I liked Berlin Strings on Kontakt more). Now woodwinds and brass. Could You do a review about OT Berlin Woodwinds (and Brass) on the Sine player?

    Regarding the size of VSL libraries, you can download only the instruments and mics that you need. So depending on what you are working on, it can actually very fast and take up little space. Most other companies need you to install everything.

    Thanks for the video, I am having difficulty finding the right Trumpets Ensemble that serves the style that I do, epic, fast, staccato etc, libraries either have good staccato but mellow sustains or both are good but they sound like different ensemble that using key switching does not help. Hopefully I'll find that one day.

  • @DakotaArnoldMusic

    I don't know if this will be answered, But do you use a midi piano to write or do you program them with the mouse? I love Cubase but the piano roll is quite hard to get use too, I'm very basic with the piano so i suck at keeping a tempo.

    • @mazetoeden9334
      @mazetoeden9334 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's definitely the easiest if you play some piano, just some basic chords... Then you can start moving things around in the piano roll... Programming the automatikn is much easier with a controller because you actually have something in your hands rather than just a mouse controlling nombers on a screen...

  • @Ravez77
    @Ravez77 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So in this example you are using keyswitching rather than splitting articulations as you like or expression maps?

  • @_emanmodnar

    I think it is sad that the evolution of libraries hasn’t evolved more. The sound is ok, but doesn’t sound like real brass sections at all. The trumpets sounds like balloon squeaks and the trombones sounds like synths 😣

    The good news? VSL reports to Studio One with, so load the instrument and it will 'automaticly' have all the correct Sound Variations.
    ... Now we're just waiting until Sine, Kontakt, Spitifre Player and the rest do that.

    Sounds great for full orchestra or classical ensemble, but my projects are more intimate and mixed with other instruments that require a unifying room reverb. Because, unlike the Synchron-ized libraries, these are recorded in-situ with a lot of room sound even in close position that make them, for me, impossible to blend with other tracks. I found this out the hard way with Synchron Strings Pro, now completely unusable to me and a waste of $$.
