shuchi vaishnav hi! I'm assuming that she must have already had an approved visa for France. Visa once taken is valid for 10 years so multiple visits to the consulate is not necessary. As for the guy, he's a pilot so he probably had the necessary approvals too! :D

for some countries visa on arrival is an option, just go there get visa, or e-visa may be there
And France is not one of those countries for Indians.
