Ultimate bracing, my 1st home was ICf Basement, soon building florida home poured concrete, board formed. No ICF because of insects. Thank you for sharing your impressive bracing techniques.
I like the idea of not having to buy snap ties for each project. Just learning as much as possible and this technique seems a bit more sensible than snap tie... I'd like more vids with this tie of form ply work
I have often wondered the opposite. But have never used snap ties. Some of the jobs we do now are far to big to use snap ties or even coil ties. But as you know, with this kind of work often it is best to just stick to what you know as if it goes wrong it’s not good!
Both. I am using snap ties 8". Your threaded rod is very sturdy and I like the corner brace method you use. Im blowout is not in your vocabulary. @bmformworkconcreteconstruc9783
Absolutely professional and great work! See much same as we using the traditional timber formworks, except that we using a single timbers in a vertical way, and twin timbers horizontally. Anyway you reach a great surface - that's the main thing. With respect from mountain concretor!
Good to see you back. I'll definitely be looking into that jig for my personal collection mate. That's how we do our corners too using a timber drill and a 500mm auger bit. You gotta have a dead on eye to line up the 2 timbers haha
It's called a drill guide. Carbatec is where I got it. I have also used it for door mortices on my house and other random things. We made them up on a rainy day in the yard.
Ben do you reckon you could do a video on the process of cnc cutting them radius/curves lines. Like all you need is the CAD file of the drawings?? And a shoutout to the business and what sort of costs? Cheers Ben
I got tennis elbow, I think from a wall job we did 7months ago where the tie bolts all got stuck and we spent 3 days belting the living day lights out of bolts. So I did a bit of research and people were saying titanium hammers are a huge help so I bought a stilleto. As much as I love the latthammer, I cant go back to it, the stilleto is so so smooth and light.
Hammering those bolts across the corner, you should have hearing protection. My rule of thumb on a build site is that when I turn 100, I want to be able to hear my great-grandchildren singing me Happy Birthday. That means looking after my hearing now!
We all have and wear hearing protection, I supply my guys with iso tunes aware pros so we can have ear protection and still communicate. if we aren’t wearing it it’s because we took them out to film some scenes.
Awesome stuff. I’m in love with concrete walls. Can you recommend a book or website that teaches this formwork for DIY? I would love to learn about the process and materials and tools used to build these forms. I have construction experience but have never built concrete walls. But I want to learn!
It’s taken me 20years on the tools. It would be a very big book. There are 3 elements. 1. Having a good understanding of carpentry skills 2. Understanding concrete pressure and the strength of your materials 3. And the unicorn of concrete mixes and additives to get the ideal finish. All take many years to learn.
@@bmformworkconcreteconstruc9783 I have the carpentry skills but lack the knowledge of form work and concrete. Btw, what company did you buy the bolt tie rods and wing nuts/plates from? or recommend a company that sells these bolt rods and nuts? USA doesn’t seem to offer this. Did you buy from an Australian company or from china? which company do you trust for these products?
@@bmformworkconcreteconstruc9783 thank you! I saw those coil ties too. I noticed some have been using the fiberglass rods that get snapped off afterwards, but i like the holes left behind by the bolt rods and not having to repurchase rods for each project
Hello! I’m an architect student and I do have a question about fair face concrete, do you have instagram account or email for me to contact you? The question will be about the hole and the concrete finish stuff(whether it is being plaster or paint). Thank you
Please stay here i was watching your videos yesterday wondering where u were
Thankyou for watching. Check out my instagram to see what we had been upto since our last video. Just search bmformwork on insta

Building forms is therapeutic.

Thabkyou, where are you?
Do you request a particular mix for your concrete? How come it seems so creamy?
Yes
Good to see you back mate 👍
Thx

Thanks Ian!
Yesss!!! You are back. Have watched your old videos 10 times each now. How did the 6 meters feature end up?

Can you do a tool belt set up video and what you recommend for formworkers? I see you’re running the diamond back.
Love the vids
Yeah mate, I was going to do exactly this next week. I'm pretty keen to show off the new belt a bit as I'm so happy with it.

Cheers
Nice job mate!

Yep I can do that, I found out how to do videos of me on the computer which will be a great way of showing the curves

I buy them from anyone of the several local formwork suppliers. I’m trying out a different tie called coil ties on my next project.
