My mother-in-law ABSOLUTELY LOVED watching the hummingbirds that visited her flowers and feeders! When a group would start to "fight", she'd watch carefully to see who won. At that point she referred to him as "The Godfeather", which I thought was HILARIOUS!! 🤣
Hi Robbie ... I just Luv your video..But I mistaken got the wrong cat n dog electric one.But I order the USB charger for it... Can't wait for the Results....Thks. Robbie for Your Inspiration....
I set up a fountain today that I've had for years with one of these pumps. I just sat and watched it for most of the afternoon. Not only the hummingbirds love their fountains.
Today, the rain came down so fast and heavy it created a "river" in front of the house. The back has a creek that in 52 years (neighborhood information) that had never left the bank. Until today. So, I sat inside with the front door open and watched exactly what hummingbirds do in torrential rain. I have 3 feeders under the roof of the porch. They were more active than I have ever witnessed, other than prior to them migrating back south. It was amazing to watch. I am so thankful I learned from you how important it is for them to find food during such a horrible downpour that lasted for hours.
I saw on the news today that some areas were gonna have terrible rain storms across the United States. Stay safe. It is good that you had your feeders up because that’s when it’s very difficult for them to find food and they most appreciated it, I am sure. Thanks for sharing all this, you take care thank you.❤️
I've been searching all over and found them today at Ace Hardware, here in Southern California! There were a lot of them and they were $5.49! They were about an inch larger than Robbies, but fit perfectly in the clear tray! I was so excited to find them!
Robbie, Robbie, Robbie, guess what I just saw??? Two little Hummingbirds playing above a tree across the street from us. I think this is the earliest I’ve ever seen them here in my area. Magna Utah, it’s southwest of Salt Lake City Utah.
Yes!! I agree Robbie! I have used a large terracotta bowl with a rubber plug to hold the water with another smaller terracotta pot turned upside down with the tubing coming out like you just did on this video for years!! The hummingbirds and goldfinches adore it!!🥰 The terracotta is naturally rough so they are able to grab on to it and bathe and bathe!
You scared me at first !!!! I literally just put mine out the other day !! I thought something bad was coming the way you started !!! Ok so now imma go find a terra cotta to try that too!
I am making so many of your fountains and bird baths!!! Love the sounds..so peaceful. I think the birds and hummingbirds love it too. I mostly use your USB ideas though since we don't get much sun in the backyard. I bought several power banks and pumps and am making many of my own now.
I just made one of these with the Terra Cota pot. I used a solar power bank that I put in a repurposed Redvine container. Then set the fountain on top. I also covered it with a stretchy head scarf bandana.
I LOVE your videos. I bought two of the solar water fountains and can't wait to make mine. Your truly inspirational. Thank you SO much for making these videos so people like me can bring these beautiful birds into our decks and gadens..We're helping the birds and hummingbirds with something they need and they give us great joy watching them. Its a WIN, WIN all the way around. 😄 Thank you again, Robbie! 🌹
The main thing is to take care of your health now, and soon you can get right into all this. Hope you feel better soon’ more videos coming out, I even set up a new one that I can’t believe the birds don’t stop coming to. By the time you feel better I should have the new set up video launched. Take care❤
I have one of those terra cotta pots! I just need to pick up the straws and am good to go to modify my water station. QUESTION: Is there any concern about the power packs overheating when the temperature goes up? Here in Phoenix Arizona the temps are getting to 💯 🥵 Thanks for all the great ideas!!
Questions: (1) How do you protect the USB from ruining from water? (2) Dobyou have to keep the powerbank plugged in, or only to charge back up? (3) How and how often do you need to clean the fountain?
Rainy days? I live in Portland, Oregon. I've been operating a 1000 watt ham radio station using solar 365 days a year. I'm sure a small DECENT panel will keep that fountain going even when it's raining. 🙂 We get tons of Anna's here. Once in a while I'll spot a Rufous, making me break out in my "happy dance." I like your fountain idea. But I'll be using solar to charge the batteries. 😇
Hello, Robbie. I love your fountains!!! I built one using Garden Boots. So far, my one hummingbird totally ignores it. How many mAh's are your power blocks. Mine is 15000 mAh and it only lasts a day! Thank you
Hi Robbie, I love watching your videos. I do have a question in regards to how you prop your solar panel for the fountains 😮. I tried putting it on top of a container on a long stick so it can be high enough and have sun hit it all day. Living in Bakersfield during the summer believe me there's a lot of sun. I tried hot gluing the stick to the container but the sun is sooo intense it melted the glue 😢. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Hello! I LOVE my hummers. But now I'm moving and am living in an apartment as a temporary stop. If I set one up, do you think they would come? After all, an apartment complex is a much different environment. I do have a corner of flowers to help my poor heart at having to leave my garden behind. I'm not sure how to get an answer, maybe do you post this on your blog as well?
I get a log of sparrows visiting my terracotta hummer fountain (like yours). Do the sparrows deter hummers from coming to the fountain? If so, is there something I can do to favor the hummers?
Robbie, I just set mine up, but I need to know how you get yours to pump so forcefully. Mine works, but the water barely rises over the little flower. 😶
Are you kidding? I'm glad you've never seen them fight before, but they're very territorial and fight all the time. Even adolescents. I have a family of 3 here. A male, a female, and this year's chick. They ALL fight. All of the time. One will come to the feeder, doesn't care about me being there, but look for the other birds. The male chases the female and baby off, the female chases the male and baby off, and the baby chases it's parents off. I've honestly been almost poked in the eye during these fights. Wings on my face and beaks near my eye ... good thing I wear glasses. They chase each other around my house and come to the feeder tentatively, looking out for another, even if it's family. It's all about territory, not about family. I don't even know that they recognize family because they all fight. Hummingbirds are glorious, but they're mean and territorial, even where family is concerned apparently. They all fight, all day every day, Or at least that's what happens here. I have no idea how you end up with so many at one time on a single feeder or bubbler. They're fiercely territorial by nature. SO pretty, but fiercely territorial. Fight all of the time with any other hummingbird except in mating season. The babies come out fighting, honestly, to claim their territory, and then they have to fight to keep it. I watched a half-sized bird take on a full-grown male for feeding rights at the feeder and win. Pretty. Ethereal to some. Fiercely territorial and will fight for that territory. Mean, cutting off other birds from food. Always on edge looking for another hummingbird to attack, because that's what they do. They're territorial and mean and will deny others food when they can. Revealing and stunning, yes? The reality of the beauty we give to them, and they are beautiful, includes a beautiful heart, and that's simply NOT the case. They're territorial, mean, don't care about where they are in a family hierarchy ... they just live and live to have territory and that's that. They raise babies, and then the babies are on there own to fight for themselves. Hummingbirds are beautiful, but they're brutal creatures. Brutal to strangers, brutal to family. Brutal in fighting for food and territory, even the juveniles. They're mean first. THAT is the nature of hummingbirds. They're not nice. If they come to your feeders (and mine) while you're standing there, it only means that they don't see you as a threat, not that they've accepted you because they know you won't hurt them. That's all. Otherwise, by nature, they're mean ... fight all the time for territory and food. Family doesn't matter. Yes, they're beautiful and you can likely tell who the parents are, but the chicks will fight mom and dad for territory as soon as it can flay. Survive or die. Hummingbirds are beautiful and absolutely brutal.
You can click on the Walmart picture that shows the fountain, it will tell you it’s out of stock, scroll down and look through. You’ll find the flash sale.
Please note. It’s important to use a pot with a tapered bottom as shown in the video. I couldn’t find one and used a flat bottomed one. When the water falls from the straw, it hits the flat surface of the pot and splashes out of the fountain requiring frequent fillings.
My mother-in-law ABSOLUTELY LOVED watching the hummingbirds that visited her flowers and feeders! When a group would start to "fight", she'd watch carefully to see who won. At that point she referred to him as "The Godfeather", which I thought was HILARIOUS!! 🤣
This is not meant for Outdoor use as it says indoor only.
It has running water… I explained to my other videos how to put the plug-in in a plastic bag or pencil box
I LOVE it!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ That is adorable and smart 😊

Beautiful pot. Such a classic shape. Now you’ve started another searcher. I’ll never look at a flower pot the sane way again.

You’re a natural energize bunny.❤
I ordered my fountain today. Used your formula for the food. No joke in less than 5 min I had 1 feeding. Thanks for all your information
Wow, I love it Robbie! ❤My fountain was delivered today and I’m excited!
Perfect ❤️❤️❤️
How beautiful and natural. Happy Hummer's. !!!!
I’m going to go out and get me some terracotta pots. Sweet 😊 and that squirrel popped his head out.
Hi Robbie. My fountains will be here tomorrow. I got 2. I have the same terra cotta pot. I got it from OSH, years ago. Cool ideas thank you 🪴
Our OSH, in Goleta, CA., got bought out by Ace Hardware. I was in there today and they have the same pot in stock!
Wonderful! Have fun, thanks ❤
Thanks I want to get another one❤

Try to get it set up in the shade, mine in no way get hot. Cover it with something dark, like a towel or fabric to the sun will not beat on it❤

Another great video!!! What kind of tray did you use that was deeper than the blue tray that came with the fountain?
Looks like the tray that comes with it and that fits under the blue tray that goes on top of it.
That blue tray comes with the unit
What I great idea , I’m now have 2 . Why do the $ tree feeder drip sugar water ?
Great idea ❤ i have one.
Thanks for this video, what is the exact power bank you have?
I bought one a few weeks ago from Walmart that was on a Flash Sale for $8, it was a 20,000 mAh, Powertek , but any type will work
What happens to power bank when it rains? I guess it can be put into a cool whip container with lid? I'm just imagining it shorting out if it gets wet
@@aspenriver76 I have that in a video. But yes or zip lock bag
Hello Robbie,
I want to ask how often do you need to add water to your fountain on a sunny day vs a cloudy day?
Usually more, and sometimes so many birds come in splashing, they can drain out some of the water, so I top it up. That can change day to day 😊❤️
I get a log of sparrows visiting my terracotta hummer fountain (like yours). Do the sparrows deter hummers from coming to the fountain? If so, is there something I can do to favor the hummers?
Robbie, I just set mine up, but I need to know how you get yours to pump so forcefully. Mine works, but the water barely rises over the little flower. 😶
Did I see a squirrel getting a drink before or after the Rufus?
Yes 😊❤️
❤ hello please tell me no solar and no need to plug in so it can be moved anywhere?
Then how does it work can you explain please?❤
Love it!
Thanks!!
Where can I find the pot you use for your latest bird bath. Thank you.
If you don’t have a fountain, what is a good way to provide water? Would you just use a separate feeder? 🦋🙏🦋
My fountain doesn’t squirt up like yours. Any suggestions?
I don’t know what unit you got, but it doesn’t have to shoot up in the air. The trickle of water will bring them in.
My pet fountain has a sensor on it that stops it from running continuously. Any suggestions?
