The story I was told by some Scottish family members. Is that some Scottish troops were in a camp and some English troops tried to creep up on them barefoot but they stepped on some thistles that were growing around the camp. The sounds they made when stepping on the thistle in their bare feet alerted the Scottish troops to the attack. This is why the thistle is Scotland's national flower. How much that is true and how much is made up who knows..
The story is probably not true, but it was vikings who are said to have stepped on a thistle when trying to invade the highland clans. The story was written in the 1200s and was the first recorded use of the thistle being our National flower.
I'm Scottish and it's a wonderful feeling listening to any anthem. You need to listen to the Welsh anthem being sung at a Wales v England rugby match in Cardiff. The home of Tom Jones and some of the greatest choirs in the world. Really enjoying wAtching you. Thanks
Respect to Scotland from a proud Welsh woman. Wonderful.... now listen to the Welsh fans at a Welsh Rugby International game singing the Welsh National Anthem. Try this version ladies😃th-cam.com/video/jxF7GE4tPFQ/w-d-xo.html
The flower represents the Scottish soilders who died in a battle i am drawing a blank on which battle it was but i think we lost. Love the videos ladies from over in alba aka Scotland, UK much ❤
The song "Flower of Scotland" is about the Battle of Bannockburn, which took place in 1314. The song's lyrics describe the victory of Robert the Bruce, King of Scots, over Edward II, King of England, at the battle. But i'll just say Culloden.🤣
It's a beautiful song, and I say that as a born and bed Englishwoman, but that recording does not do it justice at all this one is much better th-cam.com/video/EEbGC1UWaLQ/w-d-xo.html The Scots deserve better treatment than that version.
Much love to you beautiful ladies from Scotland💙🏴 Please react to ‘Bagpipes Bands performing "Amazing Grace" LIVE’ on Maximoon page.. you’s will love it x
In fact Scotland does not have an OFFICIAL national anthem - this song has just become one by popular acceptance. I am a Scot, but I feel uncomfortable about "Flower of Scotland" because it is based on historical hatred of the English, a sentiment which should have been buried centuries ago. The UK is too small to allow such old animosities to be perpetuated.
Thank you ladies, we’re a proud nation ❤️ from 🏴

The Scotts, Welsh, Irish and Cornish have more love for rugby than football, and all are famous for a good song before and during a match.
Flower of Scotland is a thistle same as the litte girl gave to young William Wallace 🏴
