The sampling is not only "Defe Defe". It is that whole line. Manhyia Nyame anka yɛayɛ me defedefe, defedefe [The original song produced by Mickey Kwame started with this exact statement]. Also in the chorus of the song, it went like menuanom eh, mongyae me, na menk) da Nyame ase, Manhyia Nyame anka yɛayɛ me defedefe, defedefe And Team Eternity's part is mongyae me, na menda Nyame ase, Manhyia Nyame anka yɛayɛ me defedefe, defedefe. So it's not just the defe defe part
I knew this would happen when i heard the original song. Team Eternity just for see am settle am lowkey😂. Theres nothing wrong with sampling but just get the permission
But TEG does a lot of renditions tho. The Ghana chant song on the album is a combination of old gospel songs. I hope they’re able to settle this. Love both the old and new defedefe ❤️
Why are there people in the comments talking about jealousy, he’s hungry etc. If he has a case the courts will determine. It’s not wrong for you to claim your intellectual property. I see in the comments section people saying this is a Ghanaian attitude etc. It’s not. Americans are more litigious than Ghanaians. If you did this anywhere in the world, people will take you on. Let the courts determine if he has a case or not.
This isn't secular music. This is within the confines of Christianity, and what is paramount is that the gospel is preached. If a pastor quotes another person in his sermon, do you hear of a lawsuit?
@@michaelmartey6183 music is music. Rules are rules. It doesn’t matter the genre. Some intellectual property owners make it slide . He clearly said he won’t.
@ScillaKrystodea music is music, rules are rules...and the gospel is the gospel. The end game is that the gospel is preached. So what if they used a line in his song? What is his motivation for coming out with a lawsuit? Is it to further the kingdom, or is it money motivated? Answer this, and I will rest my case.
@@michaelmartey6183 lemme also ask you Why would they also steal someone’s intellectual property when they are not the rightful owners? If they are truly Christians why steal. Pls google interpolation, copyright infringement, sampling you sound ignorant at the issue at hand.
Let me tell you, OG’s know, the moment I heard the song, I immediately knew the connection. I‘m not a music person, so I‘m unsure about the sampling part. Let the experts debate that. But the words and the Defedefe part, there is no argument. Hopefully, they will find a calm and peaceful resolution. And again, people need to take others' intellectual property seriously.

Defe Defe (Team Eternity) is a wonderful song and as a christian, am happy for the gospel space. But work and ethics are standards we need to follow. And I think the production, managements and legal advisers of both parties should work things out. Still DEFE DEFE all the way......
Oh I loved the old Defe Defe. It was definitely a hit in its day and still is whenever it is lifted anywhere in churches in Ghana. It’s such a vibe! I had to warm up to the new Defe Defe. So I definitely lean towards the old one. However, I don’t think this is a real case. Did they pick a complete line from the old one? Is there a copyright for the word Defe Defe? Isn’t it a Twi word? Me de3 I’m even confused. Someone please tell me the sampled part because I can’t find it.
I ❤ both. Because, when Team eternity dropped defe defe 🔥 and i even sang the old one as i heard it before when i was young and still love it. But, Ghana 🇬🇭 we must dey for each other. This matter needs not to stretch. At least them get views for them a era. Because even popular Ghanaian movies on TH-cam get 3 views for about 10 years😂. Let's 😉 all Ghanaians gather make we do the needful. Vhim! KSS team. You dig?😊
For his own, I don’t think there’s any problem because he was ministering…he didn’t bring it out as a song or credit the song to him. He just sang what we all know to be choral songs…
By the definition of what Kwadwo Sheldon read, it is clear that this is not sampling or interpolation. Sampling has to do with inserting a portion of the original song in a new song. Interpolation is recreating a new work based on the melody of the existing work. The only similarities are the lyrics. And lyrics are words that can be taken out of a song and the melody remains the same. Someone could rap defe defe and it can't be considered interpolation because it will not follow the original melody. However, this lyric was copied word for word but I don't think anyone owns words. So this is probably a loophole that team eternity could take advantage of.
They still can’t cos Kwame Mickey owns the song so far as his was released first. He has a case. This wouldn’t have been a problem if they seeked consent/ at least seek consent.
Fair Use Defense The proposed rule states that any mention of songs lyrics "must represent only up to 10 percent of a copyrighted musical composition" due to fair use. I don't think Team Eternity's lyrics from the original make up even 5%, so even on fair use. They are in the clear.
@@aldotrapani8241 it makes more than 15% Watch it Sheldon was only talking so he really didn’t play the similarities. Team Eternity sang same lyrics 2 X back to Back & emphasized on it towards the end. Research more about interpolation/sampling cases. Stonebwoy’s osobokyer3 was only one line yet he did the needful. Just accept it that the man deserves his credits, royalties & what so ever it is his intellectual property.
Sampling dey music inside…plenty music wey ekam out nu Ibe sampling people do make he go sit somewhere… Ghanaians dey like these things too much…always if people dey go up ah them dey wann bring them down… Make he sit somewhere koraaaa
the question is was the "DEFE DEFE" word created by the first composer? If the word is already known or a twi word known to the public, then they can never be sued. You all know Sheldon's YAWA OF THE DAY Term was used by Shata Wale right??? So how about that?

It's just a line ooo they didn't sample the entire song oo . Na even the old defe defe too sampled from somewhere hehe go and check Lord Kenya, akyeame, five five etc they all sample songs even Drake samples songs Kendrick Lamar mo nyinaa..
I was just waiting for this
If the song never became a hit, he would have kept shut.
Oh hmmm true ooo true
Regardless Ebe Sampled
Black man 4 u despite there are laws guarding such art
Wasn’t the old one a hit
That be why you get only 3 subscribers 😂😂
Masa forget story this music dey beee pass the old one….buh Team Eternity Ghana have to do the needful 🤝and moreover they still have the numbers🥇 and if that old man like make he he challenge….💯‼️
You have which Numbers?Do you know, Kwame Mickey 😂😂😂 will you pay some of legal fees for Team Eternity 😂
You don't know Mickey.. relax.. he has produced More songs in Ghana than anyone.. again, this song is not better or popular than the Old one unless you are talking as a 15 Year old
@@agyapongdaniel apuuuu
@@naivenatives9597 they still have the numbers bruh don’t challenge!!!
Ojoe’s voice at the back de3.
Mind borsting 😂😂
Bro. Do u know I hv never taken this into a serious consideration like today... This is really education bro👍 I agree TM should see Mr. Mickey 👍 This is not a fight 👍 #teameternity #ghanagospel
They shld just give the Defe Defe to him and put pasapasa cos they can't touch that song
😂😂😂😂
As simple as that
That is all 😂😂😂😂😂
The sampling is not only "Defe Defe". It is that whole line.
Manhyia Nyame anka yɛayɛ me defedefe, defedefe [The original song produced by Mickey Kwame started with this exact statement]. Also in the chorus of the song, it went like menuanom eh, mongyae me, na menk) da Nyame ase, Manhyia Nyame anka yɛayɛ me defedefe, defedefe
And Team Eternity's part is
mongyae me, na menda Nyame ase, Manhyia Nyame anka yɛayɛ me defedefe, defedefe.
So it's not just the defe defe part
I knew this would happen when i heard the original song. Team Eternity just for see am settle am lowkey😂. Theres nothing wrong with sampling but just get the permission
This song is a game-changer, the catchy melody and meaningful lyrics make it a standout hit pass US
If he
reached out . he would have said it
But TEG does a lot of renditions tho. The Ghana chant song on the album is a combination of old gospel songs. I hope they’re able to settle this. Love both the old and new defedefe ❤️
Takes me back to killer cat now😂😂
Did Drake ever pay the money?😂
So we now for pay for language we dey speak now.
Their emotions are leading them not logic
Some don’t even understand what intellectual property means.
@@michaelmartey6183 lemme also ask you
Why would they also steal someone’s intellectual property when they are not the rightful owners?
If they are truly Christians why steal. If it wasn’t commercial that wouldn’t be a problem.
The man produced the old defe defe with his hard earned money, promoted & radio tours. Don’t downplay his hardwork.
The old one is not sharp, I love the new defe defe and am obsessed with the TEG defe defe😂❤
One love from Nigeria though I don't know how to speak the language ❤
I dont think the two songs are the same in anyway...oh no no no 🤔🤔🤔🤔this is serious
Defe Defe (Team Eternity) is a wonderful song and as a christian, am happy for the gospel space. But work and ethics are standards we need to follow. And I think the production, managements and legal advisers of both parties should work things out. Still DEFE DEFE all the way......
Interview the MD of team eternity and I’m sure we would get to the bottom of this🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ humble suggestion 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Yhh
Sheldon has to do that.
Kojo Antwi did Dadie Anoma, Akatakyie also used Dadie Anoma, as well as Kwabena kwabena Dadie Anoma but there was no problem
People have been saying Defe before Kwame mickey produce the old defe song . He should keep us a break
This is sampling not interpulation. The melody is totally different.
This isn't about melody
Masa he should kmtfd, like if the song did not become a hit like will he be doing this s**t he is saying...This life kwraa why are we like that🙄🙄🙄🙄
Oh bibinii de3 tweaa😂. Do you know copyright?

Vhim! KSS team. You dig?😊
Even Davido sampled " UNAVAILABLE"
He seeked consent
There’s a difference
He didn't samlped it but someone wrote it and gave it to him
@@akasidina1708he did. Burna boy also sampled common person

10:43 MOG ... All the Choral fraternity is coming for him😂😂😂😂
For his own, I don’t think there’s any problem because he was ministering…he didn’t bring it out as a song or credit the song to him. He just sang what we all know to be choral songs…
you watch, yes, sir!
Sheldon you wear lawyers demma coat then wig come talk serious matter wey you wear scooby doo shadda😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
😂
We love O Joe ❤ backing vocalist
Everything is on point and eloquent English just that the Scooby Doo spoil there😂😂😂
Like you rightfully said a clear case of interpolation but they should have asked for permission from the original composer
They should just go and see him to sort things out simple
music is dynamic ooh or? dem for pay the man for using en line
Yeah. I think so too👍🏾
They still can’t cos Kwame Mickey owns the song so far as his was released first. He has a case.
This wouldn’t have been a problem if they seeked consent/ at least seek consent.
Fair Use Defense
The proposed rule states that any mention of songs lyrics "must represent only up to 10 percent of a copyrighted musical composition" due to fair use.
I don't think Team Eternity's lyrics from the original make up even 5%, so even on fair use. They are in the clear.
@@aldotrapani8241 it makes more than 15%
Watch it Sheldon was only talking so he really didn’t play the similarities. Team Eternity sang same lyrics 2 X back to
Back & emphasized on it towards the end.
Research more about interpolation/sampling cases. Stonebwoy’s osobokyer3 was only one line yet he did the needful. Just accept it that the man deserves his credits, royalties & what so ever it is his intellectual property.
Defe Defe is an Akan phrase and no one can lay claim to thos phrase
I can tell you that the original that got 400k views got 80% of the 400k views from the sample or the new release one love from Nigeria ❤😊
Sampling dey music inside…plenty music wey ekam out nu Ibe sampling people do make he go sit somewhere…
Ghanaians dey like these things too much…always if people dey go up ah them dey wann bring them down…
Make he sit somewhere koraaaa

the question is was the "DEFE DEFE" word created by the first composer? If the word is already known or a twi word known to the public, then they can never be sued. You all know Sheldon's YAWA OF THE DAY Term was used by Shata Wale right??? So how about that?
