      @Jesse Marcel I understand where ur coming from but if you want to hang onto your bitterness and resentment towards Christianty that's your choice. I choose to forgive just as Christ forgave me. Alot of atrocities were committed in the name of Christ and not everyone who calls themselves Christians are. The Bible says by their fruits ye shall know them. Jesus himself was crucified by his own people but it was all part of God's plan. I don't serve a dead man I serve a risen Saviour . Get saved accept Jesus' gift of salvation I'll be praying for you.

      The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him.
      John 1:1,14 KJV
      In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us,
      1 John 3:8 KJV
      He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
      Isaiah 9:6 KJV
      For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
      John 1:10
      He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT.
      John 3:18 KJV
      He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God

    An honest and humble worker for the LORD. God uses the weak to show his strength. His dedication in sickness and depression shows the Spirit shining through to sustain him till he crossed the finish line. Praying more youth will abide in the vine to bear much fruit and shake up those in compromised churches. I've been watching several movies on Christian heroes of the faith and I'm amazed at how much God allows them to suffer. David Brainerd: Expelled from Yale, his horse breaks a leg and he has to kill his horse, depression, tuberculosis, coughing blood. The native Americans, although thousands of years removed from the near East and contact with the Sacred line and teachings of God's prophets still retained a lot of man's history. According to Andrew Blackbird, son of a chief of the Ottowa indians wrote in the 1800's of his people's history and beliefs as it was rapidly being erased by white expansion. Along with them having the same cosmological model of ht earth as the Bible, he also tells of his people knowing of the Great flood of Noah, of a prophet being swallowed by a great fish only to be spit up on shore alive after, and even a set of 21 commandments, very similar to the 10 given to Moses, with some Indian society type of additions.

    I disagree with their analysis in terms of what Brainerd was actually experiencing as related to his diaries. Whenever a psychologist attempts to explain the nearness a person becomes to Christ in solitude, he inevitably explains it away as "depression". It's NOT depression! The word "melancholy" may have had a cultural meaning, but it has also been a description by men who have drawn so near to God, that after seeing themselves in light of who God is, the experience sent them into a deep and "dark night of the soul" - a kind of spiritual anguish. It's a time of testing and refining by God of the inner man. It's a breaking of every dependency on flesh and human endeavor and a realignment of the mind, the will, and the emotions to the will of God - a dependency on Him above all else. This doesn't happen of our own volition but by God's undertaking. After all, "He who God uses greatly, He must first break greatly". Is this what Brainerd experienced? It could be.

    • @jimih7811
      @jimih7811 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely right so! In addition, it is imperative for a man to come under conviction, by God's grace through the Holy Spirit, of the depravity of man's heart. The natural state of man's heart is wicked to the core and there is no cure excepted for the grace of God through the sacrifice of Jesus at the cross... I believe Brother Brainerd really experienced this awakening and realised that the only way to inner peace with God is the total destruction on relying upon one self's goodness to deserve God's grace to overcome our sinful nature. Self is so wicked and intrinsically rooted in pride that the only way out to freedom is to crucify "self" at the cross, like denying oneself, pick up our cross and follow Jesus. I confess that it is an arduous walk of trials and errors but crucial for our spiritual growth to become mature men and women of God.

    ..."indentured servant" is a soft term for slave/enslaved...many Europeans that came to the Americas came out of the orphanages and prisons by way of indentured servitude and many did not last. It is sad how many were stolen from Ireland and Scotland and dumped on the shores of the Americas. It is only by the manifest power of the Great Spirit that some of the tribes took some of the people in...there's to much to be said here...all and all, it is quite interesting the true history of European backgrounds and further their forced occupation in the sacred lands of Turtle Island (America).

    "The Creator" not a pre-American concept. Taught by us to them.
    Accordin to their own law, those who "sold" Manhattan didn't own it because they hadn't occupied it for 2 years continuously. Thus they pulled a scam in claimin ownership of the island.
