Sam, as a former state employee, I really appreciate your advocacy for hardworking, dedicated public employees. We're so often cast as lazy, stupid, ineffective, and the biggest cause of government dysfunction. The vast majority work hard to serve the public and leave politics at home as much as possible. Even among those who aren't good at their jobs, the percentage who have all of the faults I mentioned above (as opposed to just one of them) is vanishingly small. So thanks for recognizing their hard work. And I am wishing all the best to my federal bros and sisters.

PLEASE READ AND PASS ALONG! My wife works in the health insurance field. Her supervisor’s wife works for a VA hospital as a nurse. They, the whole staff received an e-mail by The government, meaning Trump, asking them to quit and they would pay them until September. There’s already a low nurse to patient ratio, many of the younger nurses have taken the option leaving even less nurses to care for patients. BUT this goes to the doctors, the administration staff, everybody! THERE IS A HIRING FREEZE for new staff. These people are forced to work double shifts at rates they’ve would’ve paid for three nurses. I thought his offer was going to be for federal government, low level admin staff NOT NURSES AMD DOCTORS! We’re in SoCal so this must be happening across the country. I don’t know who to tell but maybe one of you reading can spread it to someone with a voice. God bless
I live in Washington state and my niece and all her coworkers that work at our VA hospital for the last 5 years all got an email today saying they could resign or basically get fired?? WTF?? It’s a big VA hospital, what’s up with this and who is going to take care of our veterans that are in the hospital or have appointments??

Glad the IG expanded on IG removals. If I had listened to Sam I would have thought Obama was the only one to do it. There will be times an IG might need to be removed. Loved him taking Ronald Reagan to task about removing all of them. And why am I not surprised the IGs began during Carter administration. My admiration for the first president I voted for continues to grow even after his death.
I have great respect for what IG’s do. I have read a few reports, not all the way through because they are very detailed, but the executive summaries are excellent and you can jump around for the details you are interested in.
@ Government websites. Each executive agency has an IG. I mostly look at DOJ OIG reports. Type the agency (Dept of State, Dept of Energy etc) then OIG (Office of Inspector General) reports. The reports are publicly available for download.

It seems clear that this particular IG doesn't get it about the need for ethics, integrity and rule of law in such Departments under Trump's Administration...this is exactly what Trump doesn't want, and is why he wants to install yes men in lieu of honest brokers.
Just the opposite...he understands very well. It is his business to understand . The umpires of our government .

We’re on the precipice of kleptocratic autocracy, even as we have economic oligarchy already, so that role you are in is critical. This will be overcome - despite their efforts, because we are Americans, and you’re young enough that in years to come, you will need to account which side of this you were on.

The problem with his argument and the comments that he would like to make to Trump is that Trump does not want rigorous oversight or the prevention of fraud and abuse.

Glad the IG expanded on IG removals. If I had listened to Sam I would have thought Obama was the only one to do it. There will be times an IG might need to be removed. Loved him taking Ronald Reagan to task about removing all of them. And why am I not surprised the IGs began during Carter administration. My admiration for the first president I voted for continues to grow even after his death.

I have great respect for what IG’s do. I have read a few reports, not all the way through because they are very detailed, but the executive summaries are excellent and you can jump around for the details you are interested in.
Where did you find them?
@ Government websites. Each executive agency has an IG. I mostly look at DOJ OIG reports. Type the agency (Dept of State, Dept of Energy etc) then OIG (Office of Inspector General) reports. The reports are publicly available for download.
apparently, trump can do whatever he wants to do. nobody is fighting back. the media is docile and congress is complacent.
