The Tyranny of Arbitration Clauses in Consumer Contracts

I appreciate calling attention to this issue. You make valid points. Why would companies be requiring arbitration if they aren't receiving better outcomes than in a court of law? Would arbitrators make money if companies did not choose to use their services? The best defense for consumers might be to refuse to do business with companies that require disputes to be arbitrated.
