Today I went to the Home Affairs in Grabouw. With an appointment it is less than 30min to apply for a new ID card. Great service for those with an appointment. I suggest that their offices be made bigger so they can give same great service to those Not with an appointment because that queue tend to get bigger... But great service generally...
I would like to say that the Home Affairs in Randburg were fantastic and it's always good to let others know of ones experience. I am happy report good SERVICE! THANK YOU!!! New Beginnings ❤
I am working for a government Dept.Fiber internet IS next to our offices but they still choose the old-fashion internet.Lack of Tech knowledge and Tenderpreneurs who offer cheap services are to be blame.
Don't blame Home Affairs for the low speed. It is the fault of SITA (State Information Technology Agency) that do not want to spend the money to get it upgraded. Probably because of South Africa's high Internet costs.
Had a good chuckle at this - after submitting my retiree permit for renewal at the end of March 2023 (i.e. last year) followed by an appeal submitted on 16 November 2023 (again - last year) - I am still waiting for the outcome to come through. In the meantime my annual car licence renewal was met with: "We need verification from the DHA that your permit is legal" (hmmm - difficult - it hasn't been issued yet), followed (more recently) by the possibility that my bank account could be frozen because I haven't (yet) received my permit renewal. You can't make this up guys, it's happening and it is nerve-wracking 🌺
In Stellenbosch in September, without informing the public why, getting passports at about 8am, one gets a page, saying you last in line, and if you come after you don't know why, you just have to come the next day. I found out later its because they have limited staff at the moment not sure how, so they just work out how many people the few people can see for the whole day. But as one is there the whole day and people arrive and are turned away, its not clear why?
Home affairs is a shambles. I born in another country brought here at the age of five, by my parents, my dad born in Cape Town in 1929 finished my schooling and went to the SADF as it was called in those days as a volunteer, changed my citizenship in 1985 to South African does not qualify for the ID card as I was not subjected to the ruling of automatic citizenship of 1994. I only qualify for a bar coded book which is only available in Barack street and Swellendam. Bearing in mind that is over 290 km from where I reside to the nearest place and the fact that you not in the doors by 1O am you won't be served and then you have to repeat the exercise.
They are useless my uncle passed last Thursday and my aunt has been sent up and down all over Durban for a death certificate and his funeral is planned for thus Saturday

We're lucky in Midvaal. We're near Heidelberg and they're awesome. Same with learner's and driving licence tests.
Oh yes, that's so true, heildelberg testing station is one of the best.. Vanderbiljpark home affairs is also the best.
Good luck. I tried to get for my two sons. Manage to get one after 6 months and now trying again and hopefully will get it in 6 months.

My money is on Rameez!
But the Nigel Home Affairs in Gauteng is pro-active and almost seems too good to be true… 😅, because all the officials there are working!
