I’m rewatching your episodes. I find them intensely informative. I have been knitting a lot of years and love the way that you share your thought process. I hope that this isn’t your last episode. I’m looking forward to seeing your “Japanese” episode. Thank you so very much for all of the time and energy that goes into to your vlog. You are an amazing knitter and speaker.
Wow, just wow!! You never fail to amaze me with the reasoned, detailed, and inspiring examination of your projects. Hearing your thought process in these podcasts has made me a better knitter, Thank you Mel
I just discovered your vlogs this week & have binge watched about a year’s worth of your videos in the past 7 days! Can’t wait to see what you share next! Beautiful knits & amazing talent! 👏😊
Hello Mel, You must be the most talented knitter on You Tube, you are streets ahead of the rest. What you don't know isn't worth knowing, you are one of a kind.
Hi Mel, Thankyou for yet another great vid, you make me feel more normal with some of the techniques you revealed which you do, that I do too, and as always I learned many new things. Your sock technique almost has me tempted to try socks again, they really arent my favourite but your way of knitting them looks right up my alley.....thank you for sharing your pattern, I'll have a squiz. Cant wait to check out your next Japanese installment, take care til then. Cheers, Tara
I love the Jared Flood jumper and the cardigan, both look really cool on you. I also like the colour choices on the Bohus style yoke. My favourite is the wrap. The colour is stunning on you. Seed stitch blanket is a winner and the socks are cute. Mitres are great, love the geometric design for the decreases. Summer is not the time to work on heavy stranded knitting although I can see it will look good when it’s done. Congratulations on all those completions!
I miss your podcast! I’ve watched this episode again to keep me going :o). It’s close to Rhinebeck time so my fingers are crossed for you to podcast again soon. Thanks so much for the detailed information you give in relation to your projects, I’m inspired by your creativity. Thanks again Mel.
I love your Shimmer sweater. Thanks for the tip to cut off the sewn bind off. They are such a pain to unpick but I never thought to cut it off. Thanks for a lovely podcast.
The Blue Shimmer sweater looks gorgeous on you as well as all your other projects! It reminded me of the Trouville sweater that I've knit in the past and now as we head slowly into autumn I'm inspired to knit a bohus style sweater too.
This was a lot of fun to watch Mel🥰, interesting on actually listening to your thought process on why you like the pattern and any changes you made for your own personal style and fit. Thank you❤, Sharon.
Love, love, loovvee everything! I enjoyed watching this style of video too as it gives an overview of what can be accomplished when one sets their mind to finishing projects. And now I am seriously contemplating a seed stitch blanket for our cabin by the sea. Something in moody browns, blues, cream and greens.
Oh my gosh! Several of your projects are giving me cast-on-itis. That Blue Shimmer is stunning, and I love your Wild Grass Wrap. The blanket with the seed stitch marl is giving me heart palpitations. Thanks for sharing!
"I got all of my blocking mats from Harbor Freight." 😆😆 That's brilliant! I got mine from Amazon - the "multi-colored children's play mat." The red, blue, yellow and green squares are quite a sight when it's all laid out.
Thank you for another inspiring vlog. I just love the variety of the projects, patterns, colours, etc. you choose to work on. I am sure it makes for a very happy knitting experience as your hands and mind would never get bored.
Your projects are beautiful, and you explain so clearly how you make choices to make sure they turn out well. Thank you for the insights that show just how deep your knowledge of the craft is.
Goodness you managed to finish quite a few things! I have to say I have quite a few projects where I've got them almost to the point of finishing and then the lure of the shiny new project becomes too hard to resist! It might be why I have an abundance of cables and tips in my knitting kit - or not, as they're mostly on my works in progress!
Mel, this was amazing! I’ve been watching for awhile and find you to be a great teacher. As with all to whom I look for guidance, I find you to be wonderfully skilled and talented. This is not only as a knitter, but as a TH-camr as well. Thank you💗
Another great episode. Love the buttons. When ripping back rows, rather than messing around with picking up loose stitches, I find it’s quicker to locate the row I want to start from and, using a circular needle several sizes smaller, pick up the right leg of each stitch in the first half of the row and continue with a second needle for the remaining half. Planning to try your method of using a US0 needle to start the toe.
I just discovered your channel and started binge watching them. I really enjoy watching you talk about your projects- so insightful and inspiring! I hope you continue to make videos! And I think it’s so funny that you talk about how short your arms are- It was pointed out to me (when I was in 5th grade) that my arms are longer than my height- like a gorilla. Teasing ensued, but that’s a story for a different time. And my arms are still pretty long. I tend to push up my sleeves all the time on my store bought sweaters because of that 😆
Mel always a pleasure watching your podcast. Thanks for the heads-up on the getting the mats from Harbor Freight. Love the buttons on the cardigan, perfection. Enjoyed all your projects.
Mel!!!! I jump every time I get a notification that you uploaded a video! As usual, such an incredibly rich with information episode 😍 I love that purl soho wrap and I think I may do something similar with my yarn because the poncho isn’t calling me anymore 😂 I love every single project you showed and thank you for the inspiration to actually finish some wips 😝❤️
Just had to say I really love the Methodology Queen shirt you have :) shout out to Maintenance Phase! but I love the way you discuss your projects in your videos and I want to apply the same thought process to my projects. And your voice is lovely to listen to as well :)
Thank you for keeping me company while I knitted 3cm of 1x1 ribbing with 3-ply yarn for the bottom hem of a new top 😌 Seeing you being so productive gives me a lot of motivation!
Always excited to see your videos come out, I thoroughly enjoy them, the vibe, your expertise, just everything. Thanks for sharing you knowledge and experience with us! :)
I get so excited when you post a video. They’re aleays so much fun to watch. Also, I love your sense of color. You constantly give me new ideas for color pairing. Thanks for everything! 😊
Mel your videos are so soothing to listen to whilst knitting. Really inspirational and enjoyable. I have a few almost finished wips I want to tackle now too! Yours are lovely :)
Girl... I have missed you! Glad to hear that you are okay. Your work is inspiring. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into each episode. Thank you for sharing and I look forward to your next video! You inspire me to keep striving to improve my knitting skills to create works of art that I can wear. Thank you so much for all that you do for the knitting community. Kind regards, Stephanie from California
Always good to see you! That blanket - it might be the one for my basket of blanket yarn (i.e., deep and sometimes regrettable stash and odds and ends).
Thank you for the great instruction, love your presentation style and your helpful hints and thought process… Helpful when thinking about my own knitting projects.
well hello - new sub here, and i'll join everyone else in singing your praises. such wonderful content, thank you. i've just finished binge-watching all of your videos while trying to finish my 3rd color work sweater (Trouville - yummy). however, we are on day 28 of +100F days here in SE utah, and while i just have a wee bit more to finish, it's firmly stowed for now. i think for me, you inspire me to aspire to more excellence in my knitting - where before i may have been ok with doing something, um, sloppy, now, i take the time to really hammer it out. so many thanks for that inspo. cheers to you - libby in utah
@@melmakesstuff hey again with a quick reply: what i think a lot of people miss when looking at T'ville on rav, is that it is actually a cardi worn with the buttons up the back! check out the bottom hem in the main photo - the pattern is written for both cardi and jumper. i'm doing the jumper and am using her original colors b/c that's what initially caught my eye - it's breath taking, if i do say so meself! cheers!
Mel that charcoal sweater towards the end, you could take back the ribbing to where you picked up the stitches and do some short rows in the rib, along with a few decreases on the second row (row after knitting). Hopefully you get lots of wear from it as it's a lovely yarn and pattern!
I always learn so many things watching you- both technically and creatively. (Any chance I can tempt you to come over for BCN Knits in November?? Selma will be here!)
Omg I would love that - we already have a big trip planned for December though so I’m not sure I can swing it this year. Would be great to hang out with you in person ❤️
I am amazed and inspired by all your projects in this video! Thank you, your podcast is always such a treat! :) Safe to say, your podcast is the best out there, not even exaggerating. Now I kinda want to make that seed stitch blanket, too, haha. As for the next bohus, Lunenberg and Woods from the Japanese book maybe? ;) I have to say, I tried Wild Apple from Poems of Color but it is so broken, none of the stitch counts correspond to the chart, it's just bad. If I ever try it again, I will have to rechart it completely by looking at extant garments with my own stitch counts. I just finished Woods body, modified to be top-down (move purls one row up for the same effect), out of pure alpaca yarn (the fluffy lace kind from Holst, held double), and it gives angora vibes big time. Will see how it holds up when I actually wear it as it might grow way too much.
Awww thank you Nadia ❤️ Wild Apple was the first Bohus I was attracted to many years ago (I think saw it on the Yarn Harlot blog) - that’s one pattern I might be tempted to buy the kit and original pattern for. I do really love that Lunenberg pattern too!

Amazing work Mel! I’m working on a blanket too, just a time sucker but one that will get done when it does. But it’s a coverlet blanket for a king bed. Blue shimmer is stunning, and the buttons in the Claude cardigan! Those are super cool! ClaudiaSJI
Great progress, Mel! Were you the one who notated your preference for the small food scale ? I’m tired of dragging my kitchen scale to my knit space! Any suggestions? Happy knitting!
Thanks! I’m not sure if I specifically noted it, but I did get a second food scale specifically for my yarn - I just bought one online that went to two decimal places, nothing overly fancy
I don't usually care much for what exactly people are knitting on youtube, but your japanese watercolour project definitelly lives somewhere in my brain. I too am going through your older videos. So nice to know I've got plenty of episodes to look forward to. I adore Elsbeth Lavold's Silky Wool.

I always use wool to sew on buttons because sewing thread will saw through the garment leaving a hole eventually.
Hmm, I’ve never had that issue personally but I do use backing buttons sometimes if it feels like it needs it.

Hi Mel, I hope you are well and you podcast again soon, I miss your channel. 🌸
Is the non-miter, seed-stitch blanket from the book, The Blue Shimmer (Poems of Color) - Anna-Lisa Mannheimer Lunn? It's beautiful!
Thanks! It’s the Muhuroosa blanket pattern by Purl Soho
I'm intrigued to know what you think of the Linya pattern. I am knitting it now but I am not convinced, esp given that the pattern is averse to being memorized (at least by me). Beautiful projects. Did you follow a pattern for the marled blanket? I thought you mentioned a name but don’t see it in your show notes?
It’s the Muhuroosa Blanket - free pattern from Purl Soho!
